Schiedam is somewhat of a hidden gem in The Netherlands.
Schiedam is somewhat of a hidden gem in The Netherlands. As suburban city close to the gigantic harbor of Rotterdam it often gets overlooked. However, this is not fair towards this beautiful city with its reminders that go back to the golden ages of shipbuilding and trade in The Netherlands. The relative small center has some of the best preserved canals of any city in The Netherlands with scenic houses and old sailing boats. There are plenty of restaurants and it is very calm compared to Amsterdam. If you want to see real Dutch old cities, go to places like Schiedam. It has the biggest windmills in the world and is famous for its liquor Jenever. A trip well worth.

Although we were tourists, we did not feel that Schiedam was 'over-touristy'. We loved the antiquity and authenticity of the town. The library, for example was fantastic!
We thought the audio tour was very informative and the visits to the Walvisch and Jenever Museums were very interesting and well presented.
We loved the trip on the Fluisterboot and the guide had a wonderful sense of humour!
We ate well, especially at the Stadshuis Restaurant where the service and the meal was exceptional.
The public transport was excellent. We used our OV cards extensively on the trains, trams and metro.
The property situated on the bank of the main canal in Schiedam was a perfect location with outstanding views. The house had great character and was equipped with every required kitchen utensil. The apartment was situated on the ground floor and the owners Ilse and Cor lived on the floor above. They were easily contactable whenever required. The artisan bread shop just round the corner was very useful. Highly recommended and we would choose to stay there again if we revisit Schiedam. Thank you Ilse and Cor.
Strategic location for Rotterdam, delft and other tourist location around schiedam. B&B Staff Is really nice.
The b&b is a renovated old house so you can live the beautiful atmosphere, ask Ineke about its history so you can see also beautiful from before the renovation.
Breakfast is very good and there's a lot of variety to choose from, room clean and full of optional (the coffee and tea machine were such a sweet surprise 🥰)
The room has two seperate room and big enough
The beds are quite comfy
The owner is helpfull and kind
The street that hotel located is quite, nice, historical and very misterious :) very good feeling :)
The most important thing that the room was warm warm enough and excelent for winter
I have always dreamed to live in the hotel on the water, the view is wonderful. Rotterdam is close to the location. Hosts are very caring, you have everything you need on the way. There is a common kitchen, we bought fish and srimps on the market and cooked. Really enjoy the time.
It's a very nice and cozy hotel, it has a swimming pool and a playground outside, very much appreciated by our kids, breakfast was extremely delicious with warm waffels and everything anyone could think of. Easy access to the highway, close to both Rotterdam and Hague.
The location was convenient for what I needed. The hotel itself was very clean and well ordered. The top storey pool was delightful. The breakfast was probably one of the best experienced; a small detail I suppose but excellent. The staff were extremely good.
The decor and vibe of the whole place was very nice. The bathroom was especially impressive, as it wasn't the typical basic white hotel bathroom we're all used to seeing. The staff at reception were very friendly and welcoming.
Very nice and comfortable in the center of schiedam at the canals and plenty of restobars around. Shops at 10 min walking distance. Much space in the apartment. Greatly decorated. Great hosts!
Everything. The attention to detail is superb, the location and views from the rooms are just charming. Definitely would choose again and recommend to anyone visiting Schiedam.
We were really glad we chose Schiedam over staying in Rotterdam. It was like coming home to your own little neighborhood. The apartment was really well presented and unique.
The decorations, the attention to detail and the overall good vibes. We loved staying here and will most definitely stay again next time we visit Rotterdam
