Beautiful Like a Porcelain Doll
Delft is a picturesque Dutch city with canals and historic buildings, situated between Rotterdam and The Hague. Birthplace of the famous Dutch painter Johannes Vermeer, this destination is also home to the iconic Delft blue porcelain and the University of Technology.
Like a phoenix from the ashes, the 17th century Town Hall of Delft was destroyed on 1618 and rebuilt by the architect Hendrick de Keyser. Located across from the City Hall in the centre of the Market square, the Protestant church of Nieuwe Kerk (New Church) with the imposing tower is connected with the Dutch Royal Family.
Resting place for Piet Hein, Maarten Tromp and Johannes Vermeer, the Oude Kerk (Old Church) was built in 1240 and is one of the main landmarks of the city along with the Prinsenhof. Booking.com offers a variety of apartments and hotels in the centre of Delft.
The Delftware factories with the blue ceramics and the hand-painted porcelain are definitely something that travellers should not miss while visiting the Netherlands. Weather permitting, you can enjoy a local beer on a canal terrace.

The town is so unique, churches to visit and beautiful squares surrounded by restaurants and cafes. Lovely places for brunch in the mornings and for beer in the evenings. The atmosphere in the evenings is wonderful. It is easy to get around on foot. the view from the New Church roof top is spectacular, tho the 300+ steps are not easy. Delft is a nice size, easily walkable for the main part.
Delft is a nice size, easily walkable for the main part. Train station to the centre is 15-20 minutes maximum. Plenty of hotels, good restaurants of all cuisines, Dutch, Indonesian were ones we tried, but there are French, European, smaller snack-type bistros too. We spent just a couple days in Delft, but the Vermeer Centre and Museum Prinsenhof were well worthwhile, spent most of a day in each. We could have spent longer in Delft.

Central or old Delft is well worth a visit.
Central or old Delft is well worth a visit. It’s on a human scale. The two big churches are beautiful, the working windmill is charming and the Vermeer Centrum is interesting. We particularly enjoyed how peaceful the town is, with great crested grebes, coots and other waterfowl swimming in its serene canals. Cyclists outnumber motorists and the town has a youthful atmosphere owing to the university. Shops and restaurants offer very good products, food and service at reasonable prices. Above all, the people are very helpful and friendly.AAnonymous - 10Scored 10

Delft is a lovely place and I hope to take my wife next time as the food, bars and atmosphere in the centre was lovely. The many bars and places to eat will suit most people and they are all (well the ones I tried) were reasonably priced. I will certainly go back again - and hopefully not involving a business trip.

lots of history and wealth, as well as blossoming tech research. loved the climb up the tower of the "new-church", scary, felt like touching the clouds. it was interesting to find out how local politics evolved around water management as a crucial part of life.

In view of my review of the hotel, I would recommend Delft...
In view of my review of the hotel, I would recommend Delft but not the hotel particularly because of the noise issue and disagreeable frying smells in the morning. If those things get sorted I will be happy to book at this hotel again.

The room was modern and had some tea/coffee making facilities which is always great. We could park the car in the nearby parking garage, which is a short walk away (but you have to walk outside so will be affected by the weather). The hotel is not far from the city centre so one can walk there (you have to cross at least one busy road). The wifi worked well enough on our phones. It would have been nice to stay longer in Delft so hopefully we can come again!JosefGermany

The furniture was well spaced out that I didn't bumped into anything. There was ample plugs throughout the room and the bathroom. I love the rain shower and I had a choice whether to use the shower and bathtub. Both the room and the bathroom was well lit. The room had a small balcony and the view from the room faced the street but at night it was quiet. The hotel provided easy access to the plaza and the restaurant.

The manager was there waiting for us despite us arriving there quite late. It seems there is no opportunity to rate the taxi bookings through Booking.com. That was a disaster! No taxi was there to pick us up at the airport despite the fact that I received messages from the system saying that a driver was on his way. Never again. The staff were super friendly and helpful and left us clear instructions on how to check-in after the front desk closed as we arrived late at night. The fact we could rent bikes as well meant the half an hour walk to the centre of Delft was reduced to a 10 minute ride. Would highly recommend Delftse Hout to anyone looking for a budget friendly letting around Delft.

There was a bit more than the basic kitchen set-up. The bathroom was spacious and had a bath. We were on the top, attic level floor, but there was an elevator! The location was right in the old city of Delft and we could walk everywhere easily. The bed was spacious and comfortable. An electric fan was provided.
