Enjoyed visiting the ruins at Palenque, well worth seeing as they were in more of a tropical setting than some of the ruins we visited around Mexico City and it is still permitted to climb up to the top of some of the ruins. While visiting the ruins it was also possible to take a short jungle walk back down to the entrance. The town of Palenque itself was quite pretty with plenty of places to eat and the people were very friendly and helpful. We also took a trip out to Misal Ha and Agua Azul waterfalls which were interesting and fun as it is possible to swim in these areas.

I didn’t spend much time in the town, I was there for the ruins. Definitely take the tour though the jungle to see the ruins that are still covered with trees. Climb through the ancient Mayan Aqua duct, see the monkeys and try eating some termites. The whole experience in the jungle adds immensely to the site.
My guide was Victor, he speaks Spanish and English, very knowledgeable, well worth the money.

We stayed one night in town to visit the ruins
- had a good coffee
- nice evening walk in the town
- farmacies availeble
The ruins of Palenque was beautifull, due to construction/care-taking we could nog visist al the temples. I was sick at the time, but there were enough toilets on inside and outside the domain.
There is a second part more into the jungle where you can see more wild animals but my body was not up for that. As far as we could understand it does take a tour to do this second part.

You can spend weeks in that region easily, because there are too many beautiful things to visit and do. Waterfalls, Maya ruins, hours and hours of hiking in the jungle is all possible and must do. Palenque and Chiapas state offers lifetime adventures. Can rental is essential as the public transport is not really safe for tourists.

The big attraction for tourists to go to Palenque are the Mayan ruins nearby. The ruins are not that impressive. At the time of our visit, the area you could walk around was restricted to only the large buildings. Every few feet was a vendor selling all the same things as the neighbor vendor. This made it feel so commercialized and distracted from being able to enjoy the atmosphere of the ruins. Tikal blows this place away. The museum was pretty good. The town has a few shady blocks with some excellent restaurants in the tourist district, but the rest of the town is not all that special.
By far the best place we stayed at in all of Mexico! So comfortable and a wonderful staff and the sweetest house cat too! It really felt like a home away from home. The location was also magical, we stayed two extra days just to sit on the patio and watch all the exotic animals in the trees! This place was such a fantastic value and everywhere else had been a disappointment we’ve stayed at places that costed twice as much and weren’t half as nice! I loved Palenque and I will definitely return to Casa Hadassa!
Though the hotel is aimed at travellers with a car as the accommodation is right above the garage, you can easily get to the place without a car. It involves an 800m or 15 min walk through a pastoral landscape to the main road where there are frequent 'cooperative ' busses that will take you to Palenque or the archaeological site for 25 pesos, which I preferred to taking a taxi to and from the hotel. As others have told, the couple running the place are very pleasant together with their 4 year old girl.
Just beautiful! My boyfriend and me had a wonderful time here in Kin balam. The hotel complex is very welcoming, the personal is very friendly and helpful, the beds and shared bathrooms are clean and comfortable to use, and the restaurant serves great options of breakfast. It’s nice to be surrounded by the jungle after a long day adventuring the ruins or waterfalls.
We would come back if we bist Palenque again. We can really recommend this place to everyone!!
Amazing! Low budget, basic facilities everything you need and also clean. Hot water and aircon. The jungle on the backyard right after the terrace is great, you can watch animals there! The host is so nice/kind. Has an extra bathroom which you can use after checkout, even gives you towels! This service was so great, we would come again. Also the hotel us located near a very nice street full of great bars/restaurants!
A stylish, modern, centrally-located hotel which stands somewhat in contrast to the rather rundown feel of Palenque itself. Rooms are modern, there is an excellent dining/breakfast room and a swimming pool for a cool dip later in the day. Palenque's stunning Archaeological Zone is about 9km away and this hotel makes an outstanding base for your visit. Highly recommended.
This is the best quality hotel in Palenque. The food was excellent as was the service. There are only 8 rooms so the attention you receive is very dedicated. We found the food in Palenque be quite mediocre so having delicious food at the hotel was a blessing! the room was very large and comfortable.
Everything was wonderful!!
Rooms squeaky clean!
Staff super friendly!
Breakfast made to order was heavenly.
Water was hot (just need to wait a few minutes for it- which is very typical all over Mexico.
Location only a few blocks off the square but very quiet at night.
Very safe.
Very cute hotel just at the entrance of the national park, surrounded by jungle. We slept so well in the little cabins. The restaurant of the property is quite nice, we ate here almost all the time. Nice pool and chill area. There's also a spa(massages) for fair prices.
Centrally located hotel, easy to reach from ADO and to get to the main square of Palenque. Healthy breakfast with yogurt, fresh fruit, cereal and bread which is a nice chain from pan dulce or fried eggs etc. Would definitely stay again here!
Decent hotel for a one-night stay, right across the ADO station and the station for the colectivos to Palenque ruins. They allowed us to leave our luggage prior to check-in and after check-out.
small hotel in the middle of Palenque, we stayed there for 1 night, perfect breakfast and a big bed with airco. I recommend it for a short Stay, you can also park the car in a private space.
Nice hotel with a nice pool; the rooms have balconies facing the pool and the jungle, and are of good size. Good service; they accommodated our bikes without question nor charge.
The location was great, and the parking was inconvenient, but once we found parking, walking the square and being able to return to the hotel was good.
