We really liked the city.
We really liked the city. You need to understand the bus situation and we tried, bought bus passes, tried using them but they were not coded the way our phone was displaying so we ended up using taxi service for all of our visitations to museums, central, restaurants, etc. It wasn't expensive but much more than the simple bus or combi travel would have been. Merida has lots to offer, especially with tours outside of the city, a bus trip to the beach in Progresso for 25 pesos each way, very cheap, cenotes, pyramids, on and on!

Merida is a big, historic, busy city surrounded by Mayan ruins, historic haciendas and beautiful cenotes. The Merida restaurant scene has everything from chef owned culinary gems to family run taco shops. There are many excellent tour guides available for in-depth exploration of the city and surroundings or one can do so on their own using public transportation or with a rental car.

I’ve visited Merida several times and was happy that my companion enjoyed her first visit. It’s a walkable, safe, friendly, beautiful city. Great sights, many very good restaurants, and a friendly population — great bus and collectivo system, also .
We don’t have enough words to express how great this place is. It is worth to travel to Mexico just to stay in Villa Merida hotel for a truly Mexican experience. The place is a beautiful traditional hacienda, arranged in great style, with all needed amenities. The location is also great (some 20 mins walk from the main center) and in a safe neighbourhood. Host Batiste is very helpful and will do his best to make you feel most welcome. Thanks a lot to Batiste for a fantastic stay and we are looking forward to visit Merida again!
We loved the hostel and had a short but very great time with the owner(s). Very friendly and cool, caring and lovely people. The hostel is definitely among our top 3 in Mexico. We loved the style and would always come back. The use of the kitchen is very handy, the patio is very cosy, the craft beer sold by the owner is cheap and great, the little souvenirs they sell are unique (no pressure to buy!), and the free coffee with reggae music and the welcoming friendly dogs made our mornings! Gracias por todo, chicos!
Fast and reliable WiFi--the first time I've experienced this in 2 months in Mexico. My zoom calls were perfectly stable. Almost everyone who worked at the hotel spoke really good English--this is the first time I've experienced this in Mexico (I've only been to the Yucatan). Everyone was super helpful and friendly. The room was clean, comfortable, and stylish. Perfect location--walking distance from bus station and the central square. And the hotel is affordable. This is a gem!
Fantastic early 20th century charm. The architectural details were amazing. It gives one a nice glimpse into the world of luxury living in the early 1900’s in Mexico.
The location cannot be better. Right on the small Plaza Hidalgo and across the street from a beautiful old church. And it’s only one block away from the Plaza Grande. Plenty of restaurants and shops nearby. Wonderful vibe. A little noisy, but in a happy, busy Mexican way.
Very clean and comfortable.
Our stay at Mansion Merida was amazing, and we loved every minute of it. Raul, the owner, Noe, the manager, Abraham, the bartender were all so friendly, helpful and welcoming. This property is beautifully decorated, the gardens and pool inviting, our breakfast exceptional and the bar a lot of fun. The location is perfect for walking around Centro, shopping, restaurants and all the historical sites. We hope to return soon to this very special boutique hotel. Thank you!
The host has a lot of good tips to give about the area and is doing its best so your stay would be as plaisant as possible.
The hotel is the most charming I have been in Mexico, really love the deco
The bedroom is confortable, with all the equipment needed
The hotel is in a quiet location, 10 min away from the main square, there is plenty of free parking around
The best place I stayed in Mexico, and one of the best places I have ever stayed and I travel often. Viva Merida has it all: colonial architecture, great interior design with a local flavor (patio and restaurant with open roof is beautiful), spacious, comfortable, 2-level rooms, central location and incredibly friendly and helpful staff. Strongly recommended.
It was very close to the airport in Mérida which is what we were looking for. We stayed only one night as our flight was getting in late. The food at the hotel restaurant at dinner was good and reasonably priced. The pool was nice but weather was not hot enough for us to enjoy it. Our son loved it though. Staff was nice and accommodating.
This boutique hotel has all the amenities of a perfect vacation accommodation. Very clean and very well appointed rooms. It is centrally located and walking distance to the bus station, plaza/main square, shops and restaurants in Merida. Staff was excellent and very helpful. Would certainly come back on our next stay in Merida.
Loved this place - one of our favourite in Mexico so far. Beautiful courtyard and pool as you come in, nice staff, and clean comfortable rooms. Ideal location too on a really quiet part of town just north of all the main sights. Lots of good places to eat and drink nearby. Amazing value for money overall and highly recommend.
A wonderful boutique hotel led by an owner who cares. Plus, having explored all of Merida, this hotel is in the perfect location. It's right near restaurants, shops and beautiful strolls, but it's quietly set back so you can return for a quiet drink by the pool and a good nights sleep! Highly recommend!
Casa Garza is one of my favorite hostels in Mexico so far!
- Comfortable beds
- The kitchen is super nice and clean
- Good breakfast
- Really nice staff
- Good location, only 5 minutes from the ADO bus station and the main square
- There is a pet turtle
Overall the place feels so homy and cosy
On New Years Day, I arrived in Merida to find my wallet had been pickpocketed at the Cancun ADO station. I also found out, my phone didn't work in Mexico! The staff at Santa Ana, were most helpful with numerous calls to Canada and the police. The housekeeping staff are diligent and professional!!
b
- beautiful, bright and spacious room, pool and modern design of the hotel
- perfect location in the city centre of Merida
- supermarket and the main square are just a few minutes walk away
- during our travels in Mexico we visited many hotels, this was one of the best :)
Spent a month in Mexico travelling and this was my favourite hotel of the 8 we stayed in.
Loved the style. Loved the easy access to tea, coffee etc any time of day.
Excellent location.
Freshly cooked breakfast each day with huge selection of fresh fruits and juces.
This is a cozy property. If you are tired of big hotels environment and wants something more familiar and home-like environment, I strongly recommend this property. Very friendly staff and very good service. I definitely will comeback in my future trips to Merida, Yucatan
Viva Mérida Boutique hotel exceeded my expectations! This charming hotel not only has a ton of character, but is also in a central location. The staff was always pleasant and ready to assist with any request. Do not hesitate to stay here!
