Nice colonial city centre in the top of Chiapas mountains...
Nice colonial city centre in the top of Chiapas mountains with lots of options: nature, food, cultural and especially the coffee and chocolate.
Very nice place to chill and even spend a long time to enjoy the atmosphere, visit the surroundings and enjoying the nice weather.
I think this would be a great place to spend several weeks and work remotely.

This city has a lovely atmosphere and the people is friendly, the main plaza is awesome with many vendors offering their hand made clothes. It is amazing to lear how many days it takes to produce a single piece of clothing.. they truly work hard to earn their living.

San cris is such an amazing place.
San cris is such an amazing place. Not only the town but the surrounding areas too and especially the locals and local travellers were really kind and helpful. I met lots of lovely people, It felt really safe too but I just stayed within the touristy circuit.
I recommend doing all the tours, especially the one to Palenque ruins. It's a long one but totally worth it.
I should have stayed longer to do the jungle bit. Lots of people recommended me booking the tours once there but since I had just 6 days, I should have booked the whole circuit tour that takes you to the jungle for a few days.
The food was amazing. There wasn't enough times during the day to try everything and if you are a coffee lover, get lots of coffee too.

San Cristobal is a very easy place to stay for a week.
San Cristobal is a very easy place to stay for a week. It is a great base for trips and there is plenty to do in the town. Lots of food options. Past the main plaza there are streets that offer very good meal of the day options and whatever your food preference you can find it here. I particularly loved El Arcotete national park, you can get a collectivo here for Q15. Also the free textile musuem is worth a visit.

A beautiful but very large city located high up in the mountains (2200m) so be prepared for cool nights! Two long pedestrian streets lined with shops, bars, restaurants and market sellers as well as markets at either end. Great things to see and do in the environs of the city such as San Juan Chamula, Zinancantan, Caves of Rancho Nuevo, Canyon (closer to Tuxtla), etc. The amber museum in town was fascinating!

We had been told about a beautiful old small colonial town...
We had been told about a beautiful old small colonial town founded in 1528; it resulted to be the third city or town in the Chiapas state and definitely, larger that we thought.
However, the interesting area from a tourist perspective is the historic centre which is completely walkable.
You can walk the central boulevard from the Arco del Carmen (old city gate) all the way up to the Cathedral and visit a number of "templos" (old churches) each of one with an interesting history behind.
For the nature lovers, there is a number of tours from the town to beautiful spots.

The hotel itself was lovely, such a nice place, and the staff were exceptionally helpful, sending us links to things to do and advice which was really appreciated. The rooms were quite compact but very clean and well laid out. We had access to a fridge and kitchen area, which was also helpful. The location of the hotel was a short walk from the centre and made it easy for us to get to and from the pick-up points for trips, and when going for food and drinks.
We absolutely loved this hotel, probably the best during our holiday. Very beautiful and old, with a vintage vibe, and a very friendly family that runs it. Our room was beautiful and spacious enough, and the bed was comfortable. Shower was excellent. The hotel is located in the centre (but not in the main touristy part) and close to many different lovely restaurants. Has its own private parking space.
After staying at Hotel Bo for 4 days, we wanted to change the scene and moved to CasaLum. What a disappointment, the rooms are beyond basic with no lights / windows in many rooms and it is quite noisy with restaurant guest, loud music and staff (kitchen / cleaners) makes noise starting at 5.30AM until late at night. I had to ask several times to reduce the music to be able to sleep.
The Hotel Na Bolom should be on everyone’s list of places to see before you die. This may be the best place I’ve ever staid in my well traveled life. The place is beautiful and peaceful. You are likely to meet a archeologist in the research library or some other interesting traveler The food is also very fresh much of it from the garden. It is also very quiet
Delicious free breakfasts and dinners are amazing, as well as the nightly activities that bring guests outside. Super easy to meet other travelers to hangout and party with. Best value for a hostel in all of Latin America and hands down the best hostel in Mexico. Have stayed here two separate times and always recommend to friends that are going to San Cris
Super comfy hotel with delicious breakfast and lovely staff. They upgraded me to a king room and it was probably one of the best sleeps I’ve had in Mexico! The area can be a bit noisy at nighttime but it gets quiet after midnight. I would definitely stay here again if I come back to San Cristóbal. Very comfortable digs and great value for money.
There is a business disco/bar with extremely loud music playing next store until 330AM. The front desk person lied to a fellow traveler saying it would end between 10 and 11 PM..he then lied to us saying it was for only one night (daj..it is an established disco/bar) when we said we had to book another hotel and asked to be refunded.
Liked that it was a unit inside a larger complex. Water pressure and water temperature was great and consistent. Loved the fireplace in each room.Shared terrace and fresh fruit. Also the general location of the hotel was great. Owner was communicative and responded quickly. Onsite staff was really helpful, responsive and kind.
Staff were super helpful and extremely nice. Even the owner is so nice that when the shower in my room wasn't working, he personally gave me a call and immediately fixed it
Location is great
The cafe next to the hotel serves good food
the people we met there both staff and guests were amazing, friendly and so helpful. We could hang out all together on evenings. We got many food, hiking and places in San Cris recomendations. This hostel was our best stay in Mexico.
It’s very central and the hotel itself is stunning. The on-site restaurant is the best one we went to in San Cristobal, absolutely fantastic. Beds are comfy and staff are accommodating and polite. One of our rooms was lovely.
Wonderful place. Wonderful history. Wonderful people. The hotel is an anthropological institution for Chiapas present and past culture. Great installations, beds and baths. Good food and lovely crew.
The service was amazing and they tend to your every need. The food in the restaurant was great. The location was near Centro and it might be one of the cleanest hotels I've ever stayed in in Mexico.
This place is an unknown gem. This was our second stay at this hotel.
Relaxing garden, beautifully decorated hotel, spacious rooms, delicious breakfast and dinner, friendly staff.
The room was absolutely spot less and much better than I expected. I can actually say that it was the best value for money hotel that I have ever stayed in and I’ve stayed in loads.
