Macau is the true east meets west philosophy. Buddhist temples coexist with Baroque churches, peaceful oriental parks are overshadowed by mega-casinos and cobblestone streets are filled with rickshaws.
Hong Kong’s neighbour across the Pearl River strait consists of the mainland that borders the People's Republic of China and 2 major islands joined by the Cotai Strip. Coloane island is a natural wonderland with its mountains and beaches, whereas Taipa includes Macau International Airport and residential suburbs.
The prominent Macau Tower dominates the skyline of this former Portuguese colony and denotes the coming of age of modern-day Macau. It has set the stage for an economic boom with Vegas-style casinos lining the Macau Peninsula waterfront.
Historic sites and cuisine are important factors in this shining tourism star of China. I would recommend to stay at Taipa area, where all the newer casino themed hotels are located. I particularly enjoy viewing the Grand Canal Shoppes inside Venetian Macao. Take a day to sight see St. Paul cathedral ruins, Senado Square and drop by the historical A-Ma temple. Enjoyed overall the good Cantonese and Portuguese cuisines.

The locals you meet are generally a hit or miss - either extremely friendly and hospitable, or terribly fierce. But nevertheless, still a great place to visit and enjoy the cool weather. Definitely explore the Cotai strip and the various light shows/ performances - this can probably keep you entertained and occupied for a couple of days. Take another day for the historical areas and maybe even the older casinos.

In some aspects Macau is an expensive version of China, with some areas looking rather tired and in need of upkeep, but there are plenty of European restaurants and cultural explorations to make it worth at least one visit. The hotels in my opinion are a bit overrated/overpriced, but fun for one visit to see what all the fuss is about (I live in mainland China). The lower prices here make it a good shopping trip for a long weekend break combined with some sightseeing - the Portuguese influenced areas with their narrow winding streets are nice to visit with plenty of small shops and interesting historical links.

It was Christmas when we visited the Ruins of Saint Paul and there was an orchestra to celebrate the event. The place was crowded but we're happy with the experience of walking to the ruins with a lot of free taste on the way.

I know Macau very well having lived there on and off over the years, but it's certainly changed since I last lived there and seems perpetually busy (going by my two visits in 2023). The old-world charm is still evident in Macau (Leal Senado area) and in Taipa Village but as I said, it just seems to be busy at all times, so not really a tranquil experience. I'm not a fan of the big Casinos (and the whole Cotai area), but if you want see some delightful examples of colonial architecture and can out up with the crowds, then Macau is definitely worth a visit. I used to go to Coloane (Has Sa Beach and Fernandos) and Colaone Village in the old days - I would expect they would be less hectic as most of the crowds stay in Macau and Cotai.

There's nothing that I don't remember not liking Macau.
There's nothing that I don't remember not liking Macau. Staying for a short period of the makes me feel relax and I did enjoy the sorrounding views. I definitely would recommend Macau for people who wants to explore more about Macau. It was awesome!
The bed is comfy, there are hard pillows and soft pillows in the room.
The room is bright, there are main light, bed light, desk light, and so many power sockets within the room. The bathroom also has hair dryer.
Hotel's location is in the shopping area so you can find convenience stores nearby easily,
The staffs were giving me much hospitality which I am very appreciated for that (Thank you young lady at front desk that day, sorry for unable to remember your name because I was so dead tired)
It was a great hotel for a two nights stay in Macau.
There is a big spa area with jacuzzi, swimming pool and saunas to relax, as well as some casinos nearby.
The hotel is located great to visit all tourist attractions in Macau, but it is not a crowded area around.
The amenities in the room were a bit "not 5-star", but the hotel was also not very pricy.
The restraunts in the hotel were very good.
Is you are going for casinos and razzmatazz of Macau then you won’t like this although in theory you are a 20 minute bus ride from the Cotai strip snd all that. If you are looking for a cute hideaway from things where you can hear the waves and the crickets and have some down time in a family run hotel then this is for you. Lovely pool and enjoyed the evening sitting on my balcony.
The room is big and spacious with open concept of bathing area. There is a blind to cover is not comfy. Good for couple.Facing the fountain will have a good view of Wynn Palace as there is shows daily. LRT station is link to the hotel 2nd floor. The chambermaid is very kind to refill many water bottles. Thanks for the b'day cake given as we are celebrating my b'day.
The location was in the old town of Macau, which i really enjoy walking on the street with local residents staying & living around. The hotel was very new, clean & comfortable, the front desk staff also very helpful. They even help to keep the luggage after you check out, and there’s a resting lounge for the guests to use.
The location is near to Lisboa and it only cost us 75 MOP for taxi from the hotel to Macau airport. They also have luggage storage, you can leave your things even after check out. The room is very clean, the bed and pillows are very comfy. The staff are friendly and accommodating.
The location is among 5 stars hotel, opposited of Parisian. Its design and decoration is luxury and grand. There are shuttle bus service and convenience to access public transportation hub and attraction places. I would like to stay again.
Everything looks great! Especially the staff they take time out to make sure they understand you and are able to help you with whatever you need. There is bus stop right outside the hotel so it's very convineant so everything is nearby.
Super professional staff. Imagine a hotel where the staff is properly trained to understand your needs, and is capable to provide you an amazing stay. This is Four Season in Macau. Just one of the best hotels I've ever stayed!
Really friendly helpfull staff, brand new hotel, good free shuttle services to other hotels, ferry and Macau central, fast WiFi, room, bathroom, fittings, furniture and linen are all on point. Close to all the casinos 🎰
The hotel staffs are kind, courteous, enthusiastic and patient. The view is very good. The location is excellent. There is a bus station just across the road with multiple routes to many places of Macau.

Absolutely loved everything about this hotel!! It’s perfect for young people, and families with kids too. There is even a cinema there! Lots of Korean couples book it, and they know quality things!
well we have not taken the bfast so cannot comment on that overall the hotel is very good and we like the hotel. we wil recommend this hotel to other people also. great keep it up
I enjoyed my stay at the Okura hotel, even though the facilities, mainly pools and the gym were closed due to the recent COVID outbreak in Macau. The staff were attentive and polite.
It felt wonderfully luxurious. The rooms were so nice and the general feel of the hotel was it as a special place to be. The location also made it ideal for exploring old Macau.
Although not in the tourist area, it is within walking distance to CBD and many attractions. Good public transport in front of and within 100 m of the hotel.
