Small city so easy to navigate. Taxi drivers waited for us at out of town attractions. Highlights were quad biking around film sets, hammam spa and eating home cooked food in a Berber village. All arranged by our accommodation.

The city is split into two sections, one where the tourists stay (North - Ouarzazate) and the other is where the locals stay (South - Tabounte)
We loved Ksar Ben Youssef the hotel there, it is in an area where mostly locals stay and there is a good restaurant near it called Cafe Restaurant la Montana where we ate and picked up some shopping from the petrol station shop
We also ate at Nature Food Restaurant and Pizzeria which was very well priced
Travel around Ouarzazate is easy with taxis, they typically charge about 100 Dhs from and to the airport, and about 50 for the inner city stuff (there were 5 of us) I think they charge things like this, 5 Dh + 5 Dh per kilometer per person or something close to that
The touristy area is very clean and built up quite nicely, the locals area is a little more run down but we enjoy to stay close to the locals and see how they live
We had a bad experience at Ecolodge Lile De Ourzazate, although the idea of their place is nice to have an eco friendly place, we found that it was not as advertised in ways which made our stay there unpleasant
Overall our stay in Ouarzazate was good, we visited a place called Ksar Ait Ben Haddou - if you do and its summer make sure you go in the morning or afternoon, because it is very hot around mid day. They also have some studios there and locations where they filmed the movie Gladiator which the locals are very proud of.
If we go back I would like to visit the other areas nearby such as Marzouga 300km away to check out the desert, there is also another area about 200km away which apparantly has nice oasis / lots of palm trees but I cant remember the name

A place with traditional architecture and great historical relevance. The ride to the airport is a short distance. Transport links to Marrakech were easy to locate and local law enforcement very visible and helpful.

Located right in between the Atlas Mountains and the Sahara...
Located right in between the Atlas Mountains and the Sahara Desert - Ourzazate is a relatively new city but done up in the traditional Kasbah architecture. It’s famous for its film studios where a number of Historical films were shot. It’s a place where most tourists stay a night on their way to Merzouga (To see Sand dunes) or to Ait-Ben Haddou which is a Unesco world heritage site of one of the best maintained settlements where all houses / buildings are made of clay. Best part is the journey through Atlas Mountains from Tizin Tichka to Ourzazate on the long winded mountainous route alongside the Dra valley. Scenes are surreal and feel as if it’s on Mars given the amount of red clay you see in the mountains.

Stayed at the Oscar Hotel on the Atlas Studios.
Stayed at the Oscar Hotel on the Atlas Studios. A great resort with a beautiful pool area. Friendly staff. Great service. Liked the tour of Atlas Studio. Loved the Film Museum in the city. Definitely worth seeing.
The place is located on the outskirts of Quarzazate and it's a camp with a few huts and a small hotel. We stayed in the huts to try to imagine the berber's way of life. We definitely saw lots of stars and got quite close to the nature. We had a very comfortable stay and a good breakfast. The staff was very helpful and the place is a perfect stop between the buzz of Medina in Marrakech and the silence of desert in Merzouga, It's also a short drive from Ait Ben Haddou -- a legendary filming set location.
Best place we’ve stayed in Morocco.
The hotel is extremely curated in every aspect, welcoming kit, guardian if you have a car, carpets on the floors of every area in the building make you feel cozy and cuddled.
Food-wise they are very thoughtful, being aware of allergies, and also having haccp certification.
Rooms are beautifully equipped with everything you could possibly need.
Staff was amazing in being gentle and helpful for every need.
Great place in the middle of the old Kasbah the room was great ,big and very nice and cozy ,very clean and very good AC I did feel like staying in a family amaizing rooftop and great brealfast I was very happy to stay here .Also they did help me to get a trip to Wadi fint Oasis what was amaizing too. I think honestly it is a amaizing place to stay in Ouarzazate !!
One of the best places we stayed in Ouarzazate. Highlight here is the host, who gave us guidance for a super local restaurant (with local prices ;-)) and made sure we visit Ait Ben Haddou! Most magnificent place around the city.
Thanks so much for all the great tips.
Terrace of this hotel is amazing. A must chill out zone.
We had a really nice stay at this hotel. It’s run by the family that was really helpful and welcoming. Also, this is one of the cleanest places in whole of Morocco. We only stayed for the night because we had to continue our journey but we would definitely choose this for our revisit!
Wonderful hotel! It's a bit away from the centre but not hard to find. The riad is beautiful, the breakfast is served in front of the room and it's wonderful. The balcony at the top has lovely views of the landscape. The staff is attentive and really lovely. Couldn't recommend more!
Hotel is on main street with easy free parking in front of the hotel. Large apartment with 5 comfortable beds was well furnished. Kind stuff delivered missing blankets for all of us to the room. Breakfast was very good and there was a lot of it. Overall I rate it very well.
The entire place was beautiful. It has many terraces and the staff are exceptionally kind. The best part by far is the staff. But that should not that take away from the beauty of the building. Do yourself a solid and stay here while I'm Ouarzazate.
Beautiful courtyard, excellent waiter service and free breakfast. Quality and good amenities, bottle waters in the room everyday, facial tissue, AC, mini refrigerator, etc. this hotel deserves more than 3 stars instead of 1 star.
The hotel had a problem with water and put us in adjoining property. Close, but not as good. Still, I appreciated the change as the location was what I wanted. The breakfast was good and the pool was refreshing.
Our stay was amazing. This is a new hotel and It is the ultimate desert lodge with a Japanese influence. Each detail has been well thought out and the food it fantastic. It is the place to stay in Ouarzazate!!!
The hotel was good but the best thing about it was the friendly staff. Raja and Mohammed were fantastic and helpful. Raja spoke great English and was a fountain of knowledge about places to visit in Morocco.
This is THE new gem 5 * in Ouarzazate. Rooms are beautifully decorated. Amenities are top. Mohamed and his staff are friendly and discreetly efficient. Really the best Boutique Hôtel at the desert’s gate…
Through all my Morocco road trip this was my favourite place. The most realistic and authentic Riad I have been. The all staff is really kind and the view from the terrasse over the kasbah is amazing.
This hotel is vey combinient when traveling from Marrakesh to Ouarzazate or desert when traveling with car or motorbike.
Is next to the road. Also personal very kind and helpful.
I came back again to Ouarzazate and straight to Hotel Marmar
Lovely place and lovely people
I seased another chance to see Ibrahim, and the lovely Raja was on vacation :(
