Please note. We are situated on a so called lower first floor. Due the course of 130-year history of the house the ground level has risen by one meter. We are not in the basement, all the windows are not covered and the rooms are bright and sunny. However, if you're looking for a panoramic view of the city, it's not us. :) Welcome to the Second House From the River! Its name says it all about its location - just a couple hundred meters from the river Daugava with its promenade leading straight to the historical Old Town and the formerly biggest in Europe agricultural market with a food court hosting more than half of hundred places to eat. The house was built in 1884 and is listed as an example of wooden classic architecture. Despite the age, the condition of the house was estimated 8/10, while the house for the former Latvian presidents has received only 7/10. Although the house is wooden the your lower first floor is completely brick. The walls on your level are one meter thick; the ceilings are arch-shaped with bricks by old technology. Modern quality windows provide an excellent sound isolation. The house has four big rooms and it spacious kitchen, toilet and a bathroom with a new shower. Every facility has a sink. The kitchen is equipped with a fridge, electric inductive stove, toaster, sandwich maker and a microwave oven. The bed linen is all natural and hypoallergenic. Also enjoy our pillow menu - from feather to unusual buckwheat. The furniture - beds, mattresses, cabinets, writing and coffee tables - comes new from a 5-star hotel and is so called "hotel-quality". Please note. Guests are kindly required to indicate the approximate time of arrival, otherwise they might have to wait until their room is ready.
My name is Igor Samovsky. You can find me on FB. Having lived, studied and travelled abroad, I decided to create a place offering an authentic experience of staying in real Riga. I will be happy to explain and show everything you might be interested in, especially considering the location of the place - in a walking distance from everything. I play and teach guitar, love nature, dogs. We are green, we recycle and are pet-friendly.
This neighborhood is the one to fall in love with. 10 minutes from the Old City, Central Market, Central Bus Station and Central Railroad Station. Numerous churches around - Catholic, Lutheran and Orthodox. A couple of minutes to the river where you can even swim. Enjoy the promenade leading right to the Old Town! 10 minutes to an island on the middle of Daugava - with a recreational park, cafes, BBQ places, wakeboarding and SUP rentals. All together, we are surrounded by wooden architecture and brick houses 100 years and more old. Some of them are so called Jugend or Art Nuevo style. During the WWII this neighborhood was a Jewish ghetto with police station located in this very building. It's real Riga. The street is named Lacplesha - by the name of a legendary Latvian epic hero. The surrounding streets are Gogol, Pushkin and Turgenev streets. Cool, isn't it?
