I don’t know much about the Shilla’s history but stepping into the hotel felt like I was stepping into an institution. It is outdated though, but it comes across as cozy rather than grimy because of the upkeep. It’s outstandingly clean. The service at reception isn’t the greatest compared to other high-end hotels in Seoul. We weren’t told about details such as needing to book breakfast beforehand if we wanted to pay the guest price, or that there’s a car service between the parking and the hotel. They did end up giving us the guest price for breakfast though to amend for their mistake, but parking is a hassle if you have a car. You have to park and either wait for a car to take you up the hill to the hotel, or make your way up a very long staircase.

It offers a free shuttle to Shilla Duty Free Shop and Dongguk University Station (Line 3). Furnished in warm colors, rooms have both air conditioning and heating. Each room comes with a TV, safety deposit box, tea/coffee making facilities and mini-bar. Some rooms have a bathtub and separate shower. WiFi is available in all areas free of charge. The Fitness Club includes a gym, an indoor golf range, and a walking path. It also provides yoga and aerobics classes. Guests can enjoy a fine Korean cuisine at La Yeon. All-day dining of Chinese, Japanese, French cuisine and more is available at The Shilla Seoul. You can enjoy refreshing cocktails with live jazz music at The Library. Located in the Central Business District in Jung-gu, The Shilla Seoul is around 40 minutes’ drive from Gimpo Airport and an hour’s drive from Incheon International Airport where pick-up services are provided from at a surcharge.

- The gym, indoor pools, and saunas (available at a charge) are closed on the third Wednesday of each month.
- The gym is open to those aged 16 years and older only, and the saunas are open to those aged 13 years and older only. Please note that the sauna is a paid facility so additional costs are charged when entering.
- The indoor pool is for adults only. Access to the pool is limited to those aged 13 years and over. On weekends and holidays, however, children under the age of 13 years are admitted in the care of an adult and only when wearing a life jacket in the pool if they are shorter than 55 in.
- Urban Island (Outdoor pool) is only available for guests who reserve Outdoor Pool Access package.
- Please follow the instruction from Life Guard when using all facilities such as Adult pool, Kids pool, Jacuzzi, etc.
- Guests under the height of 55 in are permitted to use the adult swimming pool only while wearing a life jacket and under parental supervision.
- Two sunbeds are available per room, and some sunbeds are prioritized for customers who have reserved them as part of a special package.
- Children under the age of 36 months must wear waterproof diapers in the pool
- Swim tubes with a diameter of 3.3 ft or less may be brought in and may only be used in the kids' pool.
- Admittance may be limited when the maximum number of users is reached.
- Urban Island operates even when it rains, but only a few sunbeds offer shelter from the rain. (In case of continuous heavy rain, operations might be disrupted.)
