Easy town to move around. Not that many pedestrian walkways.
Easy town to move around. Not that many pedestrian walkways. From my last visit(2023) there is an upgrade though.
Need for more coffee places.
The beach areas could be more cleaner.
For coffee and lovely delicious snacks,go to Malaika restaurant opposite the Buntwani Beach Front.
Walking is the healthiest way to move around Malindi, just don't give a visual contact with the boda boda taxis( you will ride unwillingly!)
Avoid the Tikka chicken with coloured(yellow) spicing.

The information on Booking.com about Malindi is an accurate representation of what I found on site. I visited the following places:
Galana Shopping Centre
Vasco da Gama Pillar
Portuguese Chapel
Malindi Marine National Park.
I occasionally ate out from a wide range of restaurants in the city centre. It was quite easy to move around Malindi and I currently have no experience of places to avoid while in Malindi.

Laid back lifestyle, great beaches, wonderful Italian pizzas. Vasco Da Gama pillar and Portuguese chapel are right there. Museums need updating. Not a huge amount to do in Malindi but if you want to get out and about, Hell's Kitchen in Marafa is worth visiting. It is a mini mini Grand Canyon. Karibuni villas in Mambrui is also nice - clearest sea water you ever saw.
The compound was very well managed, with beautiful well cared gardens and breathtaking sights. We came during the rainy season and the cleanliness and maintenance exceeded our expectations.
The staff were really friendly and kind. I loved when Benard allowed us to check out late because our flights were delayed. Pools were very clean and perfect.
Location is superb. Less than 30 minutes drive to the airport, 3 minutes walk to the beach and just within Malindi town. We really enjoyed our stay. My kids loved the place
The staff was amazing! The manager and Owner as well. Friendly and just felt like family.
The pool was clean and deep(3m).
The beach is next to the apartment/hotel.
Every weekend there would be something happening. Ie DJ and band.
Vasco de Gama was close by. Swahili dishes restaurant and Pizzerias near by. Made daily life easier.
It was so great I stayed here from Dec till Jan! For three weeks! Sarah, Martin, Fiona and the rest of the team, Thank you for a great stay!
Truly a little gem of a place tucked away in a little private spot about a 15 or 20 minute walk from the beach. The owners and staff are incredibly friendly and accommodating and really I cannot recommend Lions enough. It is a fantastic place to spend a few days in Malindi. Has a nice pool and the food is incredible - especially the red snapper and meat dishes. The owners Andrea and Imelda and staff Corazon and Clarice are to be congratulated on a job very well done.
Think twice before choosing a Resort/Hotel in Malindi.
The property is in a great, secluded, yet very safe location. It is surrounded by nature, steps from an International hospital, and many other pleasant characteristics.
The breathtaking structure and vast garden makes this guesthouse a one of a kind.
The most amazing thing it has been the great hospitality, the love, care and attentions of the host.
This is a hidden gem in Malindi. Highly suggested.
The food is exceptional, especially the 4 course Diner.
The Hotel has no access to the ocean and therefore is quiet and secure and has lavish swimming-pools.
In easy 5 minutes walking distance there`s the "White elephant" which for a small fee offers everything you could wish for a day at the beachfront, with an added value of a very interesting art and culture space. A lot of other beaches are just a short drive away.
The white Elephant is more than just a place to stay, it’s an experience!
I stayed here for a few days after my safari and it was the perfect ending to an already amazing adventure.
The hotel is set amidst a tropical jungle and outdoor art gallery, and is right on the Indian Ocean.
Imagine having your meals right off the beach!
And the staff could not have been more welcoming and accommodating.
This hotel has great potential! Built next to a huge Baobab tree that provides shade for a sitting arrangement, it has a lovely Tuscany-Swahili architecture and the pool is just fine. The location is close to shopping and downtown area, though more noisy and smelly (waste burning) as the hotels closer to the beach.
The room was beautiful and comfortable, there was a relax area with a pool, and couches outside of the room. The staff was helpful, there were bicycles to use for free to go to other restaurants or beaches. The yoga session was also very good.
Peaceful, beautiful and comfortable little resort. Safe place and no outsiders at the site. Good beach to swim when the water is high. Short distance to the services of the town and a tuktuk always available for a reasonable price.
Nice boutique hotel on a kind of an peninsula. Equipment top with a very tasty view for every detail (lamps, game photos on the walls, cushions, daybeds ...). Private small beach and a lot of privacy.
Hotel is beautiful, amazing pools and so peaceful. Staff are extremely welcoming and helpful for anything I asked for. Enjoyed having the bikes available to go between hotel and the beach resort.
The place is just awesome, everything from the rooms, compound, swimming pool and the beach view. The host Lucio was soo welcoming and friendly. Can't wait to go back once I am back in malindi.
Peaceful, Quit, privacy 100% indoor games, clean pool, affordable cooking deals , clean kitchen and proximity to beach and town Centre, jovial staff and of course I like parrots.
I've been to Malindi 4 times.
It was best hotel experience.
Staff are very kind and well trained.
I felt hospitality so much.
Hotel is just on beach.
Pool is very clean.
