Usually picking a hotel around Kyoto Station is my operandi modus but decided to try a slightly different experience. The location beside Kamogawa is the prime draw for the birds and you cannot get a similar view at a better price. The riverside view room is a must and a pleasant surprise to catch the magical view of the last snowfall on Spring Equinox. Away from Kyoto station means avoiding the overcrowded buses. Took more Subways than previous trips to Kyoto because of the location. Plenty of food choice within walking distance though you have to mind the rush hour crowd - this is Kyoto after all! Despite being seemingly inconvenient, the transfer from JR to the Subway is manageable even with heavy luggage once you figure out the elevator access route. The breakfast is fabulous, from the attentiveness of the staff as you enter the restaurant right up to the delicious breakfast spread. You know the chefs are great from the bespoke Omelette orders that they churn out.

We loved our 5 day stay in Kyoto and our hotel was so ideally located that we walked every afternoon to our favourite coffee shop and each evening to the wonderful eateries nearby ( especially the Soba Noodle eatery “Ukiya”) We stayed downstairs in one of the quiet, garden view rooms with a very large, modern bathroom and very comfortable bedding. The staff were all very helpful and friendly ( in particular Jenny) who had excellent English and helped us so much with our taxis, luggage service and other points of interest. Thankyou so much Jenny - you made such a difference!

Place as described in the picture not photoshopped. Everything was clean. Stone throw away from all shops and convenience stores. We really like the firm bed, helps our back to rest. We appreciate a little surprise for our wedding anniversary. Love the onsen after long tiring day outside.
