A Walker's Paradise Filled with Charming Surprises
Once a capital of the Western Roman Empire, Ravenna is a walker’s paradise and is home to several historical landmarks, magnificent mosaics, great fashion outlets, and charming streets lined with cafés, restaurants and bars.
Piazza del Popolo is considered the heart of Ravenna and was historically the civil and administrative centre of the city. It features the 15th-century Palazzetto Veneziano, the 17th-century Palazzo Comunale, and the 18th-century clock tower.
The most popular landmarks in the city are San Vitale, Mausoleo di Galla Placida, Basilica of Sant'Apollinare Nuovo and Dante Alighieri’s Tomb, whilst the Cervia Thermal Baths and Mirabilandia theme park are great options for a day trip.
After a day of discovery and sightseeing, be sure to head towards the coast for a revitalising swim or relaxing sun bathe at one of the several beaches scattered along the coastline of the Adriatic Sea.
Ravenna Station offers direct routes to Bologna and Rimini. Booking.com offers a range of accommodation options in Ravenna, Cervia, Milano Marittima and throughout the Emilia-Romagna Region.
Wonderful place! It was so very pretty and historic.
Wonderful place! It was so very pretty and historic. The city allows you to visit the museum of Alighieri Dante, one of the most important poet in Italy's culture. Also you can visit the Dante Alighieri's tomb. The city have a lot of bar to drink, seat and listen music, restaurants to eat the excellent and traditional italian food (for example piadina).

Ravenna is a beautiful place to visit.
Ravenna is a beautiful place to visit. It's easy to get around the town center and there are a lot of places to eat--across all price ranges.
So many beautiful mosaics. It's worth taking a tour for these. We did a guided tour with Silvia Giogoli at guidaravenna.com and it was worth the cost. She is so knowledgable about the history of the city and the mosaics in particular. Really gives you a better appreciation of the art.
If they block the guide's name and website, it was the guided walking tour offered via the booking site called Mosaic Tiles Guided Tour.

Great to see the mosaics and Dante's tomb. All the mosaics within
walking distance. Excellent restaurants. Good to have a look around the harbour and stroll along the beach.
Excellent train connection to Bologna.
It is worthwhile to just walk in a meaningless way to enjoy the city and its people. The people are very friendly and very helpful.

One full day in Ravenna was perfect for visiting the amazing Byzantine mosaics. Be sure to go to Sant' Apollinare Nuovo to get your tickets to the various sites--two require a timed entry, so have your day planned. All of the mosaics are wonderful and well worth seeing, but our favorites were the Mausoleum of Galla Placidia behind the Basilica, and Cappella di Sant'Andrea inside the Archiepiscopal Museum. Dante's Tomb was neat, as were the mosaics under water at the Basilica di San Francesco. And off the main tourist trail is the little Arian Baptistry. . . heck, you gotta see 'em all!
To get the most out of seeing these treasures, read up on the Arian Heresy and the conflict between the Goths/Arians and the Justinian Christians. Different hidden symbols everywhere. There's a short summary in the Rick Steve's tour guides that's helpful.
And when you're tired of mosaics, stop at the covered market for some amazing food. It would be a great "half-way" point for lunch (wish we'd known).

Great little city with virtually everything within walking distance. The late antique basilicas and their mosaics are truly astonishing and there is a great selection of bars, cafes and restaurants as well. Go to Profumo di Piadina for a great lunchtime snack! Museums are also good, especially the Mosaic Museum Tamo and the Classe Museum, presenting Ravenna's astounding history in an impressive and engrossing manner, one of their best I've visited and only a short t bus ride away.

This is a cute part of Italy with lots of history.
This is a cute part of Italy with lots of history. Would of liked an extra day to see more of it but we were leaving on a cruise from the port. The Mosaic sites were incredible. And the food at the Market Place was amazing. The Plaza was wonderful with lots of shops, restaurants and markets. The people were very friendly but the transportation was horrible. We had to walk from the train station to our accommodation's and it was a 30 min walk. No taxi would help us or barely any around and the ones present were very rude. They really need to work on there local transportation.
The staff at Palazzo Bezzi is just outstanding. my wife broke bones in her foot just before we arrived at the hotel. Sara, on the front desk made arrangements for us to get to the emergency room and then on to orthopedic appliance store for a boot and crutches. she ordered dinner for us, as late as it was.
The entire staff bent over backwards to help us in every way! The facilities were outstanding and our room was the nicest that we can remember.
I highly recommend the Palazzo Bezzi to anyone- you will not be disappointed!
The apartments are as centrally located as could be, and enjoy easy acces to a great restaurant and coffee bar in the same building. The apartments are stylishly outfitted with quality fixtures, furniture and accoutrements. Stefania was very helpful, including guiding us to a pharmacist who solved an important problem. We didn’t take advantage of the kitchen, which seems well outfitted. Ravenna is such an extraordinary place that we are sure we will return. And when we do, we will stay at Apartment Hotel Marchesini.
the apartment is situated in the historical place exactly in the city center but on the street which is quiet in the evening. A very nice view to the Sant Vitaly cathedral. The beds are comfortable, I would buy such pillows to my own apartment)). Shower is good, no problems with water. Very big dining room with a fire place, don't know if it works, I was much more interested in the AC which was ok))). I recommend. Next visit to Ravenna will check first of all if this apatment will be available.
We were warmly greeted by Anna. She gave us mainly helpful tips for touring Ravenna and provided us a map as well as use of a travel guide in English. We also appreciated her restaurant recommendations. Also, breakfast at the hotel was top-notch.
For parking, we can recommend nearby Garage Navoni. We were provided a discounted rate as guests of Casa Masoli. Antonio is a wizard at parking Tetris!
The appartman is spacious and very lovely decorated. Perfect for a longer stay, has all the equipment for it including washing machine. On the street there was always a free parking spot. The city centre is close even by foot and the beaches are about 15 minutes by car. If you are with car in Ravenna this is your place!
the hotel is located very close to the train track but you don’t hear them. it is close to everything you need for a visit to Ravenna. we stayed here for 6 days and were treated like family! the hotel is older but full of charm and very clean! I would stay here again! 😊
The location is very convenient and Valentino is a great host! He understands and speaks English very well and arranged vegan croissants for me for breakfast :) There were many more breakfast options than one would expect in Italy anyways. I really enjoyed my stay!
Beautiful and clean with a friendly helpful staff this lovely boutique-style hotel is across from the Basilica so everything is easy to walk to and there is so much to see and do. The scrumptious breakfast is in their beautiful garden.
We have been three weeks all over in Italy and this was our last accommodation on this trip. But even when I look back on my many many other stays, that was by far the best B&B we have had. All points in all categories.
Wonderful location close to all sights, wonderful and helpful staff, and very comfortable room. Even the small room on the street was quiet and cool. The best place I've stayed in Italy and I look forward to returning.
Very convenient for visiting Ravenna especially as private car parking is available at the hotel. It’s a standard hotel and met expectations, staff were friendly and the rooms were basic but very clean and comfortable.
Everything was just excellent !!!
The most elegant hotel , you feel like you are at home .
Stylish , clean , comfortable , great location , very nice staff , wonderful breakfast . Best place to stay in Ravenna .
Lovely hotel and staff, excellent location at walking distance from station and main attractions. Breakfast gave me also a big smile. I truly recommend it to all good people who would like to enjoy Ravenna.
close to restaurants, stores, historical sites. very warm and welcoming staff. you feel like you are staying at a friends home. breakfast was great, best coffee I’ve had in Italy!
