The Apulian capital Bari has been known for its port since Roman times. Nowadays there are 2 harbours: cruise ships and ferries to Greece and Croatia depart from the new port, while the old port shelters fishing vessels.
Between them is a seafront road bordering the real attraction – the old town. Narrow, cobbled streets lead under arches to hidden piazzas with pavement cafes. Many are on adjoining Piazza Mercantile and Piazza del Ferrarese, where the old Roman road is exposed.
The imposing 12th-century Norman-Swabian Castle guards the west of the historic centre, and the simple Cathedral of San Sabino is from the same period. Equally understated is the Basilica of St Nicholas, housing relics of the saint. Pope John Paul II once prayed there, which may have given rise to Bari Airport’s name: Karol Wojtyła Airport.
Corso Vittorio Emanuele II is the meeting point of the old town and the Murat district, built under orders of Napoleon’s brother-in-law. Facing each other across this street are the colourful façades of the municipal office and Piccinni Theatre, though most prestigious is the Petruzzelli Theatre opera house.
Booking.com’s Bari accommodation includes luxury hotels by the Fiera del Levante, cheap city centre apartments, and B&Bs near the train station. For families, the slides and swimming pools of Bari Acquapark make a great day out.
Good to visit. Bari's old town is beautiful, it is very good for walking next to the beach, the center of the city is very energetic and the train station offers a lot of destinations around Bari. Maybe the bus station could be a little more organized.

One of my favourite cities in Italy.
One of my favourite cities in Italy. Puglia is gorgeous, food is amazing, weather is good - when it's not raining. Everything is amazing.
Bari is so close to other wonderful places - for example, Polignano a mare is just a 30 minute train ride away.

The best is that for me Bari is very quickly reachable in one hour flight, and the fact that there are so many amazing places to visit nearby ,like Alberobello, Matera, Polignano, Monopoli, makes Puglia a great place to go to.

This is my second time visiting Bari.
This is my second time visiting Bari. I like Puglia and Bari is a nice starting point. Bari itself is a very nice city. Nice shops, restaurants and atmosphere. Reaching the airport is very easy and cheap.
I believe it is even much nicer in the summer, when you can see the true spirit of the old town.

We visited Bari in a 2 day trip, altogether with Alberobello and Matera. I think 2 full days are ok to check all 3 top-tourist locations! Being in winter, only the central part of Bari was populated with caffees, restaurants and other services! The central part is very hard to find a parking space.
The stay at the hotel was very pleasant and enjoying. The hotel is located close to the old town, so it creates an comfortable opportunity for walking around Bari. During the stay, the staff was immensely helpful, especially the receptionist, Paolo, who was amazingly helpful and always offered some advice, e.g., how to spend your time in Bari, or where go to eat, etc. Paolo seemed to have everything under his control, which made my stay uncommonly comfortable. If any problem occurs, he will solve it quickly and without hesitation.
The suite was fantastic. It was comfortable and cozy. It was nice having a couch to sit back and relax after a long day. Roberto the host will assist with everything if you need, but is not overbearing. He makes a wonderful breakfast that you can eat in the comfort of your room.
The location is perfect if you want to explore Bari. The gelato stand around the corner was some of the best i ever had. Also make sure to walk the town at night. Bari is an underated town. It has fantastic food and iteresting things to see.
Everything was perfect. The location of the hotel is probably the best in Bari - we enjoyed breathtaking sunsets from our room :) We even got a free room upgrade and our rooms were with a sea view. Staff was very helpful and polite. Breakfast was very good too - I will miss the amazing sea view from the restaurant every morning. :) Finally, the rooms are equipped with everything you might need for your stay. If we travel to Bari again, we will definitely stay here again.
Loved the location so close to train station and Bari Vecchia. Also great restaurants within walking distance. This small B&B has very nice rooms with modern amenities and the bed super comfortable. Breakfast was wonderful with a lot of very fresh fruit, homemade baked goods and nice meat and cheese and the best Cappuccino of our trip. The owners Nico, Agata and Marco are amazing and go out of their way to accommodate. We loved it here
Recently renovated and well-equipped, it offers everything you need for a pleasant stay in Bari. Alessandro is a very kind and attentive host, who does his best to make you enjoy your stay. The WiFi connection is very fast, which is a plus. The apartment is in a great location, at walking distance from the train station and very close to the sea. In the close vicinity there are several restaurants, supermarkets and shops.
Nice coffee machine but they only supplied about 4 coffee pods. Okay for one night but not for three..only about 10 minutes from train and bus stations since we bussed to Bari from Sorrento and then to Rome . Also took day trip to Monopoli by train. Very cheap and worth the trip. directions to hotel could have been better. It's the first building on the right after you pass through green gate
Information to get to the hotel was personalized and easy to understand! It was a walk away from the central Bari train station and to the most amazing street which brings you to ever where you need to go ! Just amazing location and appartement! Only why I haven’t given ten on t
en is the couple of steps to go to your appartement door but I didn’t mind since there is so much more avantages !
The location is a bit outside of Bari, but it’s perfect. I would not want to stay closer to the center, it’s too chaotic. It has it’s own parking, which is a luxury in Bari and I was really happy about this. The hostess is lovely and very helpful with tips of what to visit around Bari. Our room was newly furnished and a great size. Look no further, it’s the place to stay in Bari!
Donatello was the best host from time of booking to time of check out. He provided excellent information, guidance for the city, and a lovely place to stay. All was very clear and easy, and breakfast and service was fantastic. Super clean, close to the train, and to downtown and port areas. A lovely place to stay. Will contact them again next time I am in Bari. Grazie!
The hotel is modern, the rooms are nice. The decor is great. The breakfast is B- That is good, but some issues. The staff was very nice, understanding and helpful. If you are there when all the facilities are open and you have a car, this is a great place to stay. The bathroom was large with travertine walls. The pillows were the best we have encountered.
A gorgeous apartment with an absolutely lovely host. It feels like you are family staying with a long lost cousin, and she takes care of you as such. The place is in a great area within walking distance to the historic center of Bari, and Antoinette also gave us the best recommendations on where to go!
Very nice stay at the Nicolaus Hotel! Very friendly hotel. Pleasant and attentive staff! A big thank you to Paolo, the best bartender in the hotel!! He will give you very good advice on the choice of cocktails but also on the places to visit around Bari. He is the best!
The price-value range is really good. Good location 15minutes walk from Bari Centrale, the central station. The old town part is in 15-20 minutes walk. The Hotel is clean and the staff is really nice. They cleaned the rooms every day and give fresh towels.
The location of the hotel is excellent. Just 2 minutes walk from the sea. It is situated in Bari Old Town (Bari Vecchia) which gives you the feel that you are a local there. Lots of places and restaurants around.
The appartment is a cozy one. There is not 5 stars, but it is clean, quite, in a safe area, near shops and near train station. It is also not so far of the old town. The caffe is very good. And a correct price
The hotel is in the old town of Bari, all the attractions are nearby and accessible by foot. The room was very clean and the stuff really helpful and friendly! I highly recommend it!
Exceptionally clean, excellent location near the Bari Vecchio, good breakfast just across the hotel with very nice staff. One of the best hotels I ever booked.
