L'aquila is a lovely small city. It has now come to life with great restaurants and is vibrant and beautiful. Reconstruction is not quite finished but nevertheless there is plenty to see and do. There are good transport links to Rome from the central bus station. There are beautiful churches and museums, city centre parks and good restaurants and wine bars. Best to stay in the city centre. City sightseeing is either by a little electric tourist train currently 7 euros pp or tourist vehicle which costs more but has a guide to the city

The city is a nice combination of a slow city life and student city in Italy. So, there are a lot of students, the city main streets are vibrant during day and night, but it is not loud and expenssive. The historic core is beautiful, but still in reconstruction after the earthquake in 2013.
The main problem is that L'Aquila is not a city for people who like to walk. There are a lot of small narrow streets with many (legally and illegally) parked cars, pavement is not proper in most of streets, i.e., bumpy and with holes. The city is very hilly, but finding alternatives (city buses, taxis) is not easy.

Unfortunately, after 14 years from the earthquake, works on buildings and facilities are still ongoing. Only two streets in the city centre are done and offer a pleasant space to walk through. I stayed only 1,5 days. On a longer trip I would have booked an excursion on the beautiful Gran Sasso which you can clearly see from downtown.

L'Aquila is a wonderful town and I would recommend it to everyone. That said, the BnB home that we werepromised by Booking.com and this host turned into a nightmare I would not wish on anyone. In summary: Go visit L'Aquila! But stay away from this host and look for another website besides Booking when it comes to B&Bs--since Booking will not reimburse you when the host makes it impossible for you to reach their place.

Exceeded expectations!
Exceeded expectations! Was expecting a run-down city, devastated by the 2009 earthquake. Though MANY buildings are still under construction, there is a lot of new life in the city. The people are resilient and very friendly. Vibrant center city, nice parks, excellent bars and restaurants. This is a perfect base if you're spending your days hiking or doing car excursions in Gran Sasso. We will definitely return, and look forward to continued refurbishment of this gem of a town.

Beautiful city. Great atmosphere.
Rich of history. Still suffering from the 2009 earthquake L’Aquila is surely a place to visit and discover.
Loads of charming places to stay, typical restaurants and besides strolling through the city center we would advice to take the guided Eco Tour.
Very bad experience .they will give you a key of appartment but when you are outside they enter in house.i asked the owner that why he enter in house when we are outside.he replied that this is my house its not a hotel so he will enter when he want.no privacy.
I was there for two days beleive me the worst 2 days of my life.because the owner enter in appartment any time.dont know how to explain that.. i attached the owner sms here ...
Location is perfect- very close to Piazza Duomo, actually in the street lined with palazzos and other historic buildings. The hotel itself is the historic house, very well maintained. The owner, signor
Paolo, is a nice person, responsive and helpful,
he provide us with some valuable advices
Concerning the l’Aquila city- which is beautiful-
places to see, to eat and bye things.
Insomnia, very recommended.
An absolutely beautiful stay! We had everything we needed for our group of 6 and we were inspired by the beautiful art and books about L’Aquila, Italy and art that were in the home. The home is in a perfect location, within walking distance to the city sights and delicious restaurants. L’Aquila was a delightful city full of beauty and warm, welcoming people. Thank you, Roberto! We hope to visit again someday.
Very nice Hotel a bit out of town. Good shaded parking under some trees. Popular location for weddings, however since the Restaurant is about a 100m away no noise. Good starting point for road cycling tours in the Area: Campo Felice, Campo Imperatore (Gran Sasso),....
There is a shopping mall about 2.5km away with a huge Spazio Conad.
The customer service is exceptional they all went out of their way to help me to get my PCR test to return
Great and comfortable room , the breakfast is fabulous and they have the best crossaints in all Italy compliments . The hotel is located only 5 minutes walk from the city center and great parking / absolutely fantastic shower
Apartment was was clean, and the fridge was full of produce. A small little apartment that looks like a small house instead of a generic hotel. A nice host, needed to use some google translate to communicate, but nothing that technology cannot solve :). Nice thick walls so the temperature was not too hot or cold.
I slept very well in this apartment thanks to the firm mattress and pillow, as well as the thick walls. The unit is in a quiet corner of the city. The host was very nice and responsive. Check-in was a breeze (key in lock box). Better experience than dealing with hotels, and at a more attractive price point.
Really lovely hotel in the city center. The absolute best part is the staff... welcoming and really went the extra mile to make sure we enjoyed our experience. Great breakfast and spa experience as well! We will come and stay again when we return to L'aquila.
Receptionist was wonderful and helpful, provided us with lots of recommendations of where to visit locally. Outdoor swimming pool was relaxing, hotel grounds are well kept. Rooms were up to date and comfortable. Breakfast was good.
Very central and very friendly staff
In general tasty interior even if an outdated but that’s normal in Italy .. gives charm ! But it was very clean. Breakfast was ok and very friendly service
Everything is excellent.
If I lived in Italy I would want to live in this apartment.
The owners are lovely and friendly.
Everything is perfect, they have thought of so much!
