FAQs about hotels in Catania

The Perfect Combination of Ancient and Modern

On Sicily’s eastern coast, at the foot of Mount Etna, Catania is the island’s second largest city. This charming destination features unique Sicilian Baroque architecture, large squares, avenues and a very important port.

On the northern side of the Cathedral Square, the historical Palazzo degli Elefanti houses the Town Hall of Catania. The Elephant Fountain is the city’s symbol and the entrance to the main shopping area. Surrounded by stunning Baroque buildings, Piazza del Duomo is a popular meeting point for tourists and locals.

Dedicated to Saint Agata and built over the Roman Baths of Achilles, the Duomo has an impressive facade that is one of Gia Battista Vaccarini’s masterpieces. The cathedral’s dome dates to 1802, while in the vaulted interior is the grave of the well-known composer Vincenzo Bellini.

Facing the Ionian Sea, this beautiful seaside place is one the hottest Italian cities during the summer. Mount Etna is an active volcano and a nice place for skiing in winter or a trip to the solidified rivers of lava during the rest of the year.

Catania is easily accessible with Catania-Fontanarossa Airport, served by numerous European destinations like Munich, Rome and London. You can stay in one of the Catania hotels, guesthouses or hostels with Booking.com.

Catania is nice for a couple of days. You feel unsafe when you walk far from via Etnea. The main street is fantastic, the food is not expensive. A lot of churches to visit. If you can, visit Taormina and Cefalu. Magnificent places for one day tour.

Exploring the main sightseeings of Catania could be done within a day. If a tourist is more detailed and interested in spending time in museums, then they could easily do it in 2 days. Catania is a good accommodation base from where tourists can organize visits to other sightseeings in Sicily. Driving in Sicily (especially in Palermo and Catania) could be quite challenging for people not used to driving in an environment where there are rules which are not very much obeyed by the drivers.

A beautiful but unfortunately unmaintained city. There are beautiful buildings, interesting places to eat the local food and friendly people. When you decide to visit Catania be prepared for a lot of garbage on the streets, sidewalks and in some places unpleasant smells. The city government should definitely get very serious about cleaning and maintaining this beautiful city.

The staff at the hotel was exceptional. We were unexpected guests as we had to find a hotel in Catania with very short notice after Mt. Etna erupted and the airport closed. The hotel staff was extraordinary. They were so welcoming and kind. The two women working at the front desk (Dani in particular) sat with us for over an hour to figure out an alternate route to Rome to continue our vacation. We were so grateful to find this hotel and work with the amazing staff. Thank you again!

It was a great place to spend our last night in Sicily. It’s very close to the airport (5 minute drive) and also close to the beach (also a 5 minute drive). The room is very clean, Tanya is a great host with all kinds of little things to make us feel welcome, like the water bottles in the fridge. Tanya responds very well on whatsapp, so communication was easy. If you choose to do the self check in, she’ll send you some video’s to show you how to find the place and how to enter.

Perfect location - very short walk from the main sightseeings, but very quiet at night. They have indoor parking right next to the hotel. The breakfast was amazing - a lot of options and everything was super delicious! The lady at the front office - Paola is amazing! The most kind and helpful person we met during our Sicily trip! It was lovely meeting and chatting with her. If we ever get back to Catania we will definitely stay there again. Thank you, Paola!

The host is very friendly and greets you every morning and asks if you want coffee. The room was clean and the facilities were new. It was a very comfortable stay. In addition, the location of the hotel is also very good, it is very convenient to go to the city center to play or go to the bus station to take the bus to the airport, which are all within walking distance. If there is a chance to go to Catania again, I will continue to book this hotel:)

We chose this hotel for its proximity to the airport at Catania. It is 10 minutes from here to the car hire drop off. This is a good standard business style hotel. The room at had, with balcony, was very well equipped and comfortable. Quality coffee machine and tea making facilities. We had a problem with the restaurant and the hotel staff dealt with this so well. The pool was closed when we were there for to a conference, but it looked lovely.

Clean, spacious, tastefully decorated, full of character, homely atmosphere, large rooms/bathrooms, lovely lounge perfect to socialise and meet other travellers, right in the centre of Catania, everything at the doorstep. Spotlessly clean, gorgeous new bathroom, generous extras provided (including toothbrush and toothpaste). We stayed in the family room, which is very comfortable and has a little balcony with table and chairs. Great location two minutes from Piazza del Duomo. Alessia was incredibly helpful even before we got to Sicily, as there was a lot of uncertainty around Catania airport following the fire. Thank you!

This is the strangest hotel I have ever stayed in regarding the location. It is surrounded by the rental car parking lots at Catania airport and some crumbling remains of old houses. Still, it is a 2 minute walk to the airport and made dropping our car very easy. The young man at check in was very nice, but it was confusing to find "where" to check in and it is not indicated very well...

Silent room and extremely close to the airport. Close enough that you can walk if you want to. Federica was an amazing host, and she and her family are some of the most cheerful people I have met in Sicily! She made our lives very easy. She also helped us get a shuttle for a reasonable price to the airport the next day, as we had a very heavy bag.
