Located 164 feet from the Ruins of Herculaneum, 7cento Vesuviano is located in Ercolano in a 18th century building, 10 minutes by car from the Vesuvio National Park.
The ruins were fantastic. There is also the Teatro Antico, which is still underground. We missed out on this as we didn't find out about it until we got there. They only admit small groups at a time and it was fully booked. Tickets are available from the Herculaneum entrance or on the Ticket One website, so you really need to book on advance. There is a virtual Archaeological museum in the town. This includes a short 3D film about Vesuvius, the opportunity to fly a virtual drone and a VR experience of walking round one of the palace gardens. Ideal for kids and teens! The museum is screen based about Herculaneum ruins and does not include actual discoveries from the site.
For visiting the surrounding areas, trains into Naples are regular, as are trains to Pompeii (but you have to change - the ticket man didn't tell us this!). Don't miss the chance to wander round the actual town of Pompei. It was beautiful! In fact, next time I would choose to stay there over Ercolano or Naples!

My grandchild suggests we would have been better staying in Pompeii and travelling to Ercolano one day. I had decided to follow what my neighbour suggested, based on taking a younger child to southern Italy.

We spent one night in Ercolano to visit the ruins of Herculaneum and break up our trip to the Amalfi Coast. The ruins are a must-see and you can experience authentic Naples pizza at RO.VI. We also enjoyed espresso and drinks at the Herculaneum Cafe. I'm not sure what you'd do here for more than a day or two, but the ruins and authentic cuisine were definitely worth our time!

The apartment was very nice and people of Ercolano very friendly. They really drive like crazy, but that is their way of life. Train station is really near the apartment and best option to reach Napoli, Pompei, Sorrento...

A spectacular place if you are interested in Roman history around the eruption of Vesuvius. There is plenty to see and the remains of Ercolano are in very ggod condition considering it was buried almost 2,000 years ago. Well worth a visit

Ercolano is a small town nearby Vesuvio, which can be seen...
Ercolano is a small town nearby Vesuvio, which can be seen from most everywhere, Naples bay also is lovely and is seen from most of the places in the town. You can easily find nice fish, pizza, fast food and traditional local restaurants in 10-15 min walk. There is a nice but small botanical garden in the territory of the local university. They also have a park of mandarins/tangerines which you can pick up for free.
The ruins of Ercolano/Herculaneum exceeded our expectations! It is not overcrowded as Pompei, the territory you can walk through in 1-1.5 hours, moreover, some buildings are in better condition ... we liked it.
Everything is perfect. Beautiful, nice atmosphere, calm area, very comfortable, nice restaurant, clean and everyday cleaning, good pool, nice breakfast, and very accessible staff. You can walk to Reggia di Porticci and have a look at the beautiful Palace and botanical garden or just walk to the ruins. It's also close to 2 train stations that give you access to Napoli, Salerno, Pompei, and Sorrento. They offered you at the hotel a trip to Capri, but I considered it overpriced.
Salvatore the owner was 100% helpful and full of information re the area. Our room was the corner room and very spacious with lovely high ceilings. The accommodation is in an old building and on the third floor with no elevator, but the accommodation itself has been renovated to the highest standard. The location is perfect for visiting the Ercolano Ruins - just a few steps away. It is also conveniently close to various restaurants and a market.
An extraordinary location, a wonderful pallazzo, a great suite! The reception was caring, the rooms clean, the bed great and parking inside the palazzo's yard safe. The location is perfect: only a short walk to the Herculaneum ruins, within walking distance to the train to Naples and with some restaurants and cafés in the vicinity. Thanks to lovely Sara for the perfect welcome, the wonderful breakfast service and the accommodating friendliness!
Great central location, near the train station (3-5 min, direction Pompeii or Naples), 5 min to Ercolano ruins entrance, next to cafes and patisseries. The host is nice and place is clean. Wifi is great and breakfast is available in cafe nearby. You will find fridge, botteld water and coffe in the room. Ercolano is definetely worth the visit and you should try street food (La maison de la pizza - rosticceria)
Very good location to experience real Italian village life! Lots of good restaurants near by, close to Vesuvio volcano and Ercolano archeological site! train station in 5 minutes of walk, so you can visit all Amalfi coast by train! Clean rooms, good air conditioning, very nice and helpful host! Recommend to everyone, 10 out of 10!
The apartment is very clean and has all facilities. The kitchen is very well equipped but a cutting board is missing. Beds are comfortable. it is quite and closed to the train station. But if you want to take trains to Pompeii you might have to change the train at Ercolano Scavi which is about 15 min walk from the apartment.
Great Staff, so responsive and helpful!
The room was great, quite smartly arranged setup.
Also, if you want to see more than just Naples, Ercolano is a great idea - close to the city and close to Pompei, Sorrento, etc.
The hotel was 9 minutes from the station and with a view of the sea. Vesuvius was right there!
My favorite stay during this trip to Italy. The house is well kept, clean and the view from the garden is wonderful. I loved the cats being around, they were friendly and it felt like home. Carmela and Francesco were very nice and helpful. Don't miss the Ercolano ruins which are in better condition than Pompei
The kindness and hospitality of the Hotel team. We got great advices on what to visit and also great support with luggage and parking. Breakfast was really good (international) and the rooms clean and large. Location for Herculaneum is just perfect (in front of the entrance).
the hotel is located directly before the entrance to the historical Herculaneum site. There are a number of cafes and restaurants very close by.
the room was clean and the breakfast adequate, but good for value as we did not pay very much for our stay.
It is located near a free beach (6min walk) and lots of restaurants (10min walk), historical sights (10min walk).
Bus and train station is near, airport is an hour from here. Excellent and plentiful breakfast in the price, very friendly owners!
The B and B was in a perfect location for access to the ruins, the train and the Vesuvius Express bus. The rooms were very clean and we loved the shower with hot water. It was quiet. Alex was great. All was perfect. Our highest recommendation.
Very quiet place with a good swimming pool, great views and kitchen with everything you need. Ercolano ruins and beaches are a few minutes drive away. We enjoyed our stay and will come back one day, for a quiet holiday close to Naples.
Hidden gem in Ercolano…very nice property and well maintained. We ate at the hotel restaurant for dinner and it was very good. Not much around the hotel within walking distance.
