Great location, nice staff. Would recommend staying.
Olbia is all about the sea, and what a glorious turquoise sea it is. As the gateway to Sardinia’s stunning Emerald Coast, this down-to-earth town is often overlooked in favour of the more glamorous resorts. However, it does have attractions of its own.
The simple Basilica of San Simplicio dates to the 11th century and the Church of St Paul the Apostle is also medieval. The National Archaeology Museum houses Roman ships, as well as prehistoric artefacts from the surrounding area.
Sardinia has a wealth of prehistoric structures and one of these – the Tomba dei Giganti Su Monte‘e S’Abe – is near Olbia Costa Smeralda Airport and medieval Pedres Castle. Across the bay is Sa Testa Sacred Well, dating to at least 1200 BC.
Along the coast in Pittulongu are the real attractions – fantastic, unspoilt beaches from where you can see rocky Tavolara Island, a popular diving site. In summer, boats sail there from Isola Bianca Harbour, the arrival point of ferries from the Italian mainland. The harbour’s fishing boats are responsible for the fantastic mussels in Olbia’s seafood restaurants, some of which are amid bars and shops on Corso Umberto – the locals’ favourite passeggiata spot.
The Olbia accommodation on Booking.com includes luxury spa hotels, apartments near the beach and cheap B&Bs.

Olbia is a practical town to stay in because you can travel by bus or car to Sardinia’s top attractions. There is a lot of action on the Corso Umberto and surroundings but overall I found only a few good places to eat. The airport is close and easy to reach via public transportation. All in all I would recommend it as a place where you spend the night but you plan your day to day visiting the amazing beaches and hikes.

If you are travelling around northern Sardinia then I would recommend a visit to Alghero rather than Olbia.
There are very few places of interest in Olbia and the traffic network is very hard to negotiate with confusing signage in many parts.

A trip to Olbia felt like visiting the 'real' Italy.
A trip to Olbia felt like visiting the 'real' Italy. Tourists per se are not specially catered for, although there are tours of La Maddalena from Palau, dolphin spotting etc.
But what you do get is a warm welcome from local people.
Lively bars, but not thumping clubs.
- and the food is amazing, with a particular focus on local delicacies as well as fresh fish and seafood.
Easy to get to local beaches (Bados and Pittulongu) which have beach bars. plenty of loungers and parasols to hire for the day. Turquoise waters, sandy beaches.

Nice Centro and waterfront.
Nice Centro and waterfront. Seemed authentic and residential city. Only stayed one evening, but seemed some good restaurants and pleasant to walk around. Although pleasant, was better for transit spot than base and we were glad that we had stayed in another location for additional travel in the area. NOTE: taxis are difficult to come by and did not answer phone on a Monday morning although we were informed they would by a driver. Be sure to schedule ahead if needed.
This absolutely lovely property, “villetta”, is a little but modern, fully equipped and just renovated beach front house, that delivers first class experience of Sardinia sea cost vacation life style. It is distanced from the beach just by the stone wall and shrubbery allowing visitors to the sea in 30 seconds! The beach is one of the best is the region, white sand with blue-green water, ideal for kids. Great place to spend summer holidays, totally recommended and the host is the nicest person on the planet! Thank you!!!
Lovely Bed & Breakfast at the heart of Olbia. Clean and spacious apartment with all necessary amenities and nice breakfast. Our landlady, Rosella is an excellent host and a lovely and friendly person who attended all of our needs and also gave us some interesting tips on restaurants with local cuisine and beaches to visit around Olbia. She has shown true Mediterranean hospitality!!! Definitely recommend it!!!
Best accomodation during our whole time in Sardinia! The owner is an amazing fella, bringing a choice of either savory or sweet breakfast to the room‘s own balcony each morning — and both are great! The place is nice and quiet, very comfortable inside and outside (nice hammock!), spacious enough and a short walk away from some small beaches. If we happen to be in Olbia again, we‘ll come back here!
The Staff where realy helpfull and professional. The most wolkomming Staff i have meet in Sardinia. Room where wery clean. The bed where good to sleep in. Staff where very helpfull making an romantic room. They cept luggage when we arriwed early and tiped us on where to eat. We have traveled for a week and this is the hotell that we liked the best in Sardinia.
Lovely friendly staff with helpful recommendations. Having the free parking is definitely a bonus in Olbia. Very relaxing experience and felt you could duck in and out of the old town and out of the heat to the hotel as it was so close to everything. Great bars and restaurants around, felt the standard generally in Olbia was very good when compared to Alghero.
The location and the shower was amazing, also communication with the host went really smooth. She was super helpful and gave us many recommendations to do in Sardinia. The appartment is also close to the bus stop (from the airport bus 2 or 10 get off at the Mameli stop) a bus ticket cost 1,50 euro. you can also go to different beautiful beaches with the bus!
Excellent stay in Pittulongu, close to the big town Olbia. We loved staying here because the rooms were very cute and clean, charming because of the balcony directed towards the beach Pittulongu which is only a few min away.
Especially the hosts, Giulia and her husband were very nice and helpful.
We can definitely recommend it!😊
The size of the room is big enough for two people. The bathroom is a bit older but the value for the money is ok. The room was clean and the staff was very polite and professional. The city center is 10-15 minutes walk away. There is a parking that is free. Breakfast is nice - typical Sardinian/Italian - sweet. :)
Nice and quiet location on the outskirts of Olbia. Comfortable room and private parking space. Large bathroom. Some of the beaches just outside Olbia are easy to reach by car and the airport is just 10 minutes away by car. A pizzeria and a restaurant are just one block away. Nice breakfast on the front porch.
Laura was great at helping my friends get transportation the last day to the airport. The beach is a 2 minute walk. We also arrived there super early because we took the night ferry. The house was not ready for check in yet, and Laura allowed us to leave our bags at the house while we went exploring.
Perfect location to reach many excellent beaches if you have a car.
25mins to Costa Smeralda
10mins to Pittolungo
20mins to Teodoro
7mins to Olbia water front/city center
Comfortable bed
Nice bathroom & large shower
Breakfast better than most B&Bs
Friendly host
Plenty of shade in the garden
Great location for going to the beach. Supermarked a few minutes walk away, and several restaurants nearby to choose from. Friendly and helpful staff at the hotel. Nice atmosphere all together. Lots to choose from at the breakfast. The city (Olbia) is also easy accessible by bus or car.
Hotel Location is great, only 150 m from a stunning beach, with a view of the Tavolara.
Staff was absolutely lovely.
Cleaness.
5 stars for the breakfast with a healthy variety of choice. Fresh juice would be better though.
Great location and wonderful suites with great service. The hotel is located in a very calm area surrounded by nature and a beautiful pool. Also relatively close to best beaches and locations (port cervo etc..)
We enjoyed our stay in Olbia. This boutique hotel is wonderful. Rooms were very clean and well appointed as was the spa . Breakfast was varied and bountiful....John Paulo was a great host.
