Beautiful, clean and modern. Close to everything, with a nice kitchen with stovetop and oven. Staff was wonderful and stored our luggage while we explored and gave us tips on things to do and places to eat. We visited in March but in the summer the patio area would be great to use!

Peaceful small town with rich and fascinating history, namely it's fishing industry and near annihilation by a volcano. I recommend hiking over and to the top of the volcano and visiting the volcano museum.

The ferry to get to the island was immaculately clean and ran on time both ways. While a smaller boat for such open seas, the sailing was still good and not too rough! The island itself was picturesque and I wish I could have stayed longer.

Such a beautiful island! The landscape is absolutely unreal. Hiking the volcano and then visiting the museum is a must. We saw puffins on the outlook just past the golf course! (ie didn't need to take the bus tour to the southern tip of the island to see them). Vigtin bakery is delicious, as well as Tanginn for dinner. Check out Brothers Brewery for a good drink! Super easy to get around on foot, and the ferry was perfect! A must see in Iceland!

Vestmanneayar is a beautiful, self-contained fishing village...

Vestmanneayar is a beautiful, self-contained fishing village that also caters nicely to tourists. It is located on the island of Heimaey. Getting there is challenging but well worth it. The best way is to rent a car in Reykjavik and drive 2 hours to Landeyjahofn on the south coast. Leave the car there (I found no need for a car on the island) and take the ferry out to the island. Two or three days is sufficient to see everything on Heimaey. Bike rental, e-scooter and hiking are the best ways to get around. I was able to bike the length of the island with several stops in about 2 hours. It's hilly- what do you expect it's a volcano. Great opportunities to view wild life and spend time outside. The views cannot be beat. Food is excellent but (like the rest of Iceland) a bit expensive. The public pool/ hot tubs are a great way to end a physically taxing day.

    What a beautiful island!

What a beautiful island! We took the tour with EyjaTours and it was so informative. The island holds so much rich history, and the scenery is gorgeous. We were able to see the puffins, as well as learn about volcanoes.

As soon as we arrived by ferry, we went hiking, then dinner at Gott, then puffin watching. Unfortunately we were not in the right place to see the true puffin colony (keep going up that road!) but we enjoyed what we did get to see.

Perfect! I cannot wait to come back, if I will visit Vestmannaeyjar again I would definitely like to stay here one more time. Houses are extremely cosy, clean and warm. I had the best sleep in a long long time. The common areas are always perfectly clean and smell nice. Definitely worth the price. Staff was very nice and friendly, especially Polish blonde lady (sorry for forgetting the name). :) Location is more than perfect. Coffee on a terrace with the mountain view was priceless.

Great location at the marina by the ferry. Easy walk to shops and restaurants. The unit is beautiful, modern, and well appointed. The unit is super clean. The beds were extremely comfortable. It is a second-floor unit (accessible only by stairs) with a view of the harbor. The unit was easy to access, and the management company had great communication.

This was a great selection for our one night stay on the island. It is about 10 minute walk from the Harbor and is located near several shops, restaurants, the Sea Life Trust and other fun activities. The hotel was clean and the staff very welcoming. We did not have dinner in the on-site restaurant but the breakfast was very good. I loved the Puffin theme!

The apartment was relatively spacious, well equipped, and perfectly comfortable. We found it easily thanks to our car’s GPS, but other guests should know how important it is to follow the complicated instructions that are sent to you. Parking by the hotel was extremely easy as many visitors come to the island without cars.

Staying in the barrel house was the most perfect way we could have experienced the Westman Islands! We visited in the summer with 24 hours daylight. We could walk right from the property to amazing cliffs with puffins and sheep! It was so idyllic! There was even a zip line to play on!

The house looks scary from the outside and we felt it looked like a haunted house. Inside is a little better. The inside is in the making. Bring a face mask, the curtains are too transparent (normally Icelandic hotels provide opaque curtains given the long summer nights).
