Super convenient location with stunning views, this little gem of a place is not to be missed. The beds were comfortable and made up with crisp linens. The kitchen was well appointed and even had coffee. But the very best part was the giant wall of windows that overlooked the expansive surrounds! Please go and stay at Asta and Filips place, you won't be disappointed!

The staff were excellent! I left my iPad behind. They tried to contact me. I finally contacted them and they were holding my iPad for me eight days later when I returned to Reykjavik. So thankful!

Breakfast was delicious! The Lobby bar was our favorite. Staff there were very friendly and taught us about Icelandic gin and vodka! That was fun! Valet parking was a breeze and the front desk 100% there for all our needs! The Easter egg delivered to our room was a class act and very yummy too! Thank you for that!

The hotel is incredible, very modern with great facilities in the room and a very comfortable bed.
The location is perfect on the Harbour everything you'll need on your trip is so close, from restaurants to tours and museums.
Downstairs in basically the lobby is the best bakery you'll ever have the pleasure of eating in, it's called DEIG even if you're not staying at the Exeter make sure you go to the bakery, in the same complex is TAIL which is a bar with live music during the week, and next to that is LE COCK a fantastic restaurant with incredible burgers and wings, all in all the Exeter is by far the nicest hotel we have ever stayed in and couldn't recommend it highly enough.

The staff was very friendly and welcoming. We were there for one night for a layover, and they have us great recommendations for food and helped us plan our bus back to the airport. The spa was also a great relaxing way to start the day!
The Guðlaug hot tub on the beach is a 'must-visit'.
The Guðlaug hot tub on the beach is a 'must-visit'. If the outdoor location is a bit wild for you, it is also situated right next to the sports centre which has a heated pool.
Also; whilst I drove through the tunnel to get to Akranes, I recommend using the scenic route to get back. It does add a bit of time to your journey, but the landscape and scenery is fantastic.

Very nice small town, in 40 min from Reykjavik and near to many attractions in Snaefellsnes Peninsula in Iceland, so it's perfect location to visit many interesting places around.
The place to be in Akranes, for sure is a Lighthouse, since 1944, unique in Iceland which is possible to visit inside, climbing to the top. From the top you can see a beautiful panorama of 360° , this wonderful and romantic place offer some exhibitions and local music concerts.
Climbe the Lighthouse!
After climbing Lighthouse, may be you will be a little bit hungry, so have a nice lucnh or a dinner in Gamla Kaupfélagið can be very good idea. Very nice ambience, good local foog and local beer.
Enjoy Akranes in every season!

Akranes is some distance from Reykjavik, maybe an hours drive through a 6 km underground tunnel or 2 hours around the coast road. Don’t be put off though - the coast road leads through stunning views, there’s no delays or queues, its well maintained and passable in extreme weather- it’s a fantastic journey in itself. I wouldn’t say that public transport is particularly good though. There are no trains and buses are infrequent
Akranes itself is a quiet residential area with an interesting fishing history. There are a few grocery stores, at least one open till late and the local pool is decent, maybe not to the standard of some of the other local spas and pools nearer the capital, but certainly better than Council facilities where I live.

Quaint little seaside town with some interesting history. There are limited dining opportunities but
Gamla Kaupfélagið is quite good with fresh local caught seafood dishes that will surely please. Drive the tunnel under the bay but don't miss the drive around bay on Hwy 47.

Lovely town and great base to explore the beautiful Western Region of Iceland. Also easy access to Reykjavík. Good cinema (Biohollin), lovely new restaurant (Gamla Kaupfélagiðand) and a documentary film festival (IceDocs) in mid-July. A trip to the hot pool by the football stadium and the lighthouse are highly recommended.
Our stay was wonderful! The house was so clean and had everything we needed for our first night in Iceland. We climbed the lighthouse and explored town. There's a cool underwater tunnel that connects to the town from the south (turn your car vent to recirculation of air) 😉. The owners provided great information about the area and places we planned on going. Thanks!
Everything about this Cabin and location was just perfect. I have been to Iceland many times and it can be hard to find a property like this. If you want to get away from it all to relax and explore Iceland's West and South West then this is the perfect location.
The hosts were amazing to deal with as well. I would definitely book this property again.
Near in everything of this wonderful city! The room was excellent. The hotel had everything you need for starting your day. You can eat breakfast, cooking, reading. The space was very clean and organized. We stayed very happy with reasonable money to spend. Easy to find parking and to find this hostel. Quiet at night!
Coffee and tea all day in the kitchen. Big kitchen, too, and a large sitting room. Self checkin was super easy, and the location was great. Excellent value for Iceland, one of the best I found in the entire country. I would definitely recommend a stay here if you need a place to crash within a few hours of Reykjavik.
We deliberately stayed at the Icelandic Lake House for the second time because we feel very comfortable there. The house is in a quiet location and incredibly cosy. You feel right at home. There is simply nothing missing. The kitchen is well equipped, the beds are comfortable, a hot tub invites you to relax.
it central to Akranes and compared to most other accommodation, it had breakfast included but the one thing that added to the value of the property was the hospitality we received from the host. this was absolutely phenomenal and we highly recommend this to anyone visiting Iceland / Akranes
Such a nice, cozy, homey place to finish our first ring road trip to Iceland. Our family had the whole floor to us with kitchen, dining and living rooms. The host waited to greet us at arrival and told us places of interest nearby. Wish we could stay longer to enjoy it. Next time.
The instruction was very kind with all information I needed including getting into my room in detail.
Me and my wife enjoyed the coffee the guesthouse provided. Might not be same for others, but it was best morning coffee we had in Iceland for me and my wife :)
Our favorite stay in iceland! The house is cute, cozy and very well-furnished. The kitchen is well-equipped.
Everything was true to the pictures. Overall, We had a wonderful night here and would definitely come back if we visited Iceland again!
A lovely place to stay on our last night in Iceland. Nice layout of the living spaces with interesting books about the local area. A great evening spent with my family. I would have loved to have spent more time there.
This is a great location outside of RVK. With a car you could base yourself here and do day trips to most of Western Iceland. Save the time getting out of RVK. Cute little village.
it was a nice place to have as a “home base” while exploring Iceland. The kitchen was great as we were able to have breakfast before going out and snacks after coming back in.
Very cosy, everything imaginable was there, the hot tub was great, it felt very homely. Best place we stayed in Iceland (and we stayed in a number of lovely cabins)
Friendly dogs and chickens on the property. Very pretty spot close to Akranes town. The bunk bed was comfortable and the sofa bed worked out fine to fit 4 of us.
basic guesthouse stay - no breakfast, but as I was leaving early for the aiport that didn't matter. Very confortable room in a nice location outside Akranes
