FAQs about hotels in Dublin

Great History, Greenery & Pubs

Dublin is home to more than a quarter of the entire Republic of Ireland’s population and was originally founded as a Viking settlement. A lot has changed from those Viking days, and Dublin is now famous for its literary history and the most green spaces of any European capital, making Dublin a real Irish gem.

Dublin Castle is at the heart of the city's history and Trinity College houses the renowned Book of Kells, a beautifully illustrated manuscript from circa 800 AD. The Ha’penny Bridge is the city’s most photographed landmark and the statue of Molly Malone celebrates the heroine of Dublin’s unofficial anthem.

Dublin is home to many important literary figures including Oscar Wilde, William Yeats, Samuel Beckett and George Bernard Shaw. As the famous location of James Joyce’s “Ulysses”, the city offers tours tracing the protagonist’s footsteps.

As one of the youngest European cities, Dublin has vibrant nightlife with the popular Temple Bar area and plenty of bars and pubs, which invite you to stay out until the wee hours of the morning.

Dublin Airport is the gateway to your Irish vacation, so whether you’re looking for a stylish hotel, an independent apartment or a trendy hostel, Booking.com has a perfect deal for your Dublin trip.

Most striking for me is the combination of old and new.

Most striking for me is the combination of old and new. Most of the buildings, in most parts of Dublin, are old, but well maintained and create a whole very nice view. But a few new buildings appeared, still in line with the old ones, which creates even nicer views. There are lot of places to visit, from all area of interest: historical, cultural, entertainment etc. These visits are easily accessible with the help of the multitude of punctual buses. Most people are friendly and the multitude of ethnics around creates an interesting experience. An very unpleasant aspect is that the streets are quite dirty, filled with litter and garbage and also a lot of beggars and homeless people.

A visit to the Guinness Storehouse is a must to find out about the history, the brewing process and, especially if you enjoy drinking it. My favourite place to visit however was the Rock & Roll museum. Our tour guide Glenn was enthusiastic and informative. He and another tour member put on an impromptu gig for us, it was brilliant. There are so many places to eat and portion sizes very generous. We ate at 1900 Restaurant on Harcourt Street, Hard Rock Cafe, Harkins Bar & Bistro and a gem of a find was the Bleeding Horse pub. There was plenty of transport, either bus or trams to get around or most things were accessible by foot. We're looking forward to planning a return visit to take in all the things we missed 1st time round.

Definitely a nice city to be in for like 2 days, not more. The weather really made my experience less enjoyable, the food is very expensive, and there is not much to see. Other than that, I had an amazing time. It's not a city to travel solo in, so go with company! The culture and people are super nice and the pubs are so fun :)

We have been visiting Dublin once or twice a year for a number of years but this was our first time staying in Temple Bar area & we were pleasantly surprised. Motel One was very reasonably priced for the standard of facilities & its location. We found eating out in this area also reasonable & good quality. We found people friendly & helpful & there's plenty to see & do. Contrary to what we had been warned about, we were not accosted by beggars nor did we encounter any anti social behaviour.

It was perfect for our needs. We are visiting different family members around the county of Dublin so it was perfect for accessing all locations by public transportation. The tram "Luas" stop was right outside. It was a fully fitted apartment in the size of a hotel room. It is a "Smart" hotel and room. The floor in the bathroom was heated. The toilet flushes and the water pressure was top notch. I will definitely be staying here on my next visit to Ireland. I would recommend to any visitors, family and strangers!

This is easily the best hotel I've stayed at in Ireland (and I've been to a few). The room has all the facilities you may need and more, and is impeccably kept. Breakfast has plenty of choice and is abundant. Location is right in the heart of Dublin and makes a great base to travel around (although the city centre does get rather dodgy at times). The price was pretty reasonable for Ireland (although it's usually much higher). Staff are usually helpful. Restaurant was also good.

This was a great stay in an expensive city. The location is convenient to the city centre and transport options. Breakfast was great, and I even got used to the loud music playing at breakfast time. You don’t get hotel staff or apartment facilities but once used to the way things run - it is a great spot. I will certainly stay here again when back in Dublin.
