Cute island with all you need. 50 minutes by bike around the island. During daytime super relaxing with many offers for a massage, scuba diving, trip to lombok, nice walks and lovely beaches. The east side has many bars and restaurants and during the evening you can party here or relax in the sand to live music whilst the south and west side is more calm. Lovely island. We stayed one week and that was perfect. Some roads in the middle or not optimal for bikes and espacially at night

On this island, it is best to stay cheaply in the middle of the island in affordable accommodation. Rent a bike and cycle around the island. Along the way, you can stop anywhere, enjoy any beach or sunbeds of any resort. They will gladly serve you drinks or food anywhere. Some beaches are nicer, some less so, somewhere in the sea you will meet a turtle. All you have to do is look where there are more snorkels, then everyone is watching the turtle there. Or notice where the boats that take tourists for diving go, there are coral reefs and lots of fish. The natives know.

Probably more suitable for younger party types. Bars and restaurants way overpriced. $5 gets you a bicycle for 24 hours the only way to get around other than walking. Water at the beach I went to was very nice warm and comfortable and clear, very little rubbish noted which is a blessing for our environment.

After living in Indonesia for roughly 5 years it was our first time in Gili T. We absolutely loved the Island. The color of the sea water is impressive and the fact we can swim with the turtles so easily is mind blowing. The only down side is that they use horse's carriages to transport everything - from tourists to very heavy construction material - such as bricks and sand. We were very touched with the way they treat the horses, they seemed thirsty and malnourished . We tried our best to avoid using them. I wish someone would do something regarding this issue.

Gili Trawangan was utterly spectacular and we felt like we had happened upon an idyllic paradise that hasn't been 'discovered' by the masses yet. We stayed for 5 nights at Vila Ombak which we would return to in a heartbeat. The island is about 6.5km around, so easy to cycle around on bikes that you can rent from the main road for 50k each for the day ($5NZ/AUD). Snorkelling gear is also available to hire from road side stalls or your hotel, but honestly most of the sets of gear we hired were pretty average so if you have room in your luggage it might be better to take your own. There are several places offering PAI dive courses and also introductory one day dive courses which the setting is ideal for. We hired a boat for the day and went snorkeling, easily the best snorkeling we have ever done, watching our kids swim alongside turtles was spectacular. There are loads of restaurants on the island so you'll be spoilt for choice and most are really reasonably priced. The only negative was that the ferry trip from Bali was easily the most dodgy situation we have ever had our children in, so for the trip back we took a bit more time (and spent significantly more money) to book a much larger, safer ferry. Our kids are already scheming ways to get us back to Gili T :)AnitaNew Zealand

The hotel is in the middle of the island where, unfortunately, it is not very clean :( and you have to make trips to reach restaurants and bars. However, it is a place to which we will come back with pleasure because the whole atmosphere of the villa was great!

We had to move our dates around, due to change in plans meeting up with friends in Lombok. Hotel had no issue with that. We now regret not staying longer.
