Blue Bahia Resort, hotel in Sandy Bay

Featuring an outdoor pool, beach access, and an on-site dove shop, Blue Bahia Resort is located in Sandy Bay, Roatán. The accommodations offers a private beach area, restaurant, and bar.

Wonderful, beachfront accommodations with friendly and very helpful hosts. The studio was clean, spacious, good shower, large fridge, gas stove, convenient nook with seating adjacent to kitchen, keyless entry, purified water. A/C and TV worked well. Be prepared for the occasional island power outage though which can also affect water pressure [restaurant still operational so good time to hang out there if need be ;-)]. The on site restaurant provided good service with food and drinks that were tasty and reasonably priced. Don't leave without trying maybe the best key lime pie ever. Did I mention the especially friendly hosts (Becca and Adam) who make you feel welcome, ready to offer good advice, and provide daily text of island activities that might be of interest. As an added bonus, Sandy Bay Divers is located onsite. They were also friendly, relaxed, and helpful. Current equipment, professional divemasters, experienced boat captains. I enjoyed the scuba diving and felt safe in their hands. Getting out from the Blue Bahia beach front to snorkel is bit difficult and there are boats passing through the area. Best to go while visiting West End or West Bay or arrange a boat tour with Sandy Bay Divers or one of the other nearby snorkel services. There is not much in easy walking distance and it's along a busy road. If you plan on touring the island, I suggest using taxis (Becca has good recommendations) or an organized excursion.

Loved the staff. Helpful in so many ways.

Loved the staff. Helpful in so many ways. They are planning for new activities. Taxi available. Great food. I ate at the restaurant daily. I could get lunches and breakfast to go when I had early morning pick up for diving. I dived with Octopus Diving, recommended by the resort. I enjoyed the birds that were attracted to the thriving plantings along the walkways. The wifi worked well. The owner helped me with scheduling. She took me to the cash machine. She was so helpful.

We loved snorkelling out to the reef, particularly the Spooky Channel, and a delicious lunch at Puerta Azul. Best of all, the beach was almost deserted, despite cruise ships disgorging passengers elsewhere on the island. We regretted not having time to see the botanical gardens.

Perfect location with a beautiful reef for snorkeling within easy swimming distance, several great restaurants a short walk away, and a quick (less than 10 minutes) taxi from West End and other spots. With her contacts Talia makes all the logistics so easy. She arranged our transportation and our boat/snorkeling tour. The casas are pretty and comfortable, and the grounds are beautifully landscaped. Breakfast each morning was delicious as well. I can't think of a single reason to stay anywhere else.
