Mikhail is an extremely welcoming and efficient host who met us at the villa, after our early morning arrival from the ferry, with a generous welcome pack. We loved the traditional furniture and the personal touches in the property - the villa has been in the family for a generation or more. The villa is in a peaceful and stunning location with views over the White Mountains and (from the roof terrace) over Souda Bay, and the village of Aptera (formerly Megala Chorafia) with its fabulous tavernas and village shop is only a short walk away. The garden is beautiful, with fresh herbs, cactus plants and flowers, a choice of seating areas and lovely pool.

We liked the pool and outside area. The views are fantastic. Inside the villa, it has all amenities you would expect. Very good showers and efficient air conditioning.

Villa Athina is a charming house with a lovely, peaceful atmosphere. The views from the house are amazing and you can walk down to a choice of three taverna's (it's a hilly walk but pleasant) and there is a small supermarket at the bottom of the hill too. The pool area is lovely and the pool is a nice size, the garden is well cared for with fresh herbs. Our hosts were very kind and the house was spotlessly clean.

Villa Athina is such a wonderful place to stay. The house is full of character, it's airy and relaxing. The garden is mature and well cared for and has numerous little places to hang out. The pool is fabulous. The views over the mountains are particularly lovely at sunset. The tavernas in the village also have lovely food and very friendly service (the place with the blue decor particularly).

Very peaceful and comfortable, amazing views, lovely location within easy walk of local restaurants and small shop. Lovely owner, who was very accommodating. Beautifully kept garden and pool. The style and decoration of the villa gave it a clean and comfortable feel, with a homely character.

Beautiful views of the mountains in a quiet village. Great location with easy access to Chania and the national road which stretches from the East to the West of Crete. The guest house was lovely, good layout and traditionally furnished. Kitchen well equipped. The pool was gorgeous, with comfy sun loungers. Michail was super communicative and offered some great local recommendations for restaurants etc.

The location is great - very quiet, but with an access to a minimarket and some tavernas. Chania is 20-30 minutes drive away from Aptera. Villa Athina is very comfortable, clean, with a spectacular pool, garden and views. The light and the scenery are very special. The host, Michail, is super friendly and easy to communicate with. He had to wait for us until after midnight, because our flight had a delay and welcomed us personally, took his time. All in all we had a perfect vacation and would hopefully visit Crete and Villa Athina again.

The house is beautiful and very tastefully decorated keeping it in character - no ugly modernisation. It has a fantastic swimming pool, much better designed than the average pool and bigger than expected. The garden is lovely with very interesting plants and excellent seating areas. Michail is a lovely, friendly and helpful person. We very much appreciated the little gifts of food and homemade products.
