From the historical sites to immense dining options, Thessaloniki is gem missing from most of my travel conversations from when I lived in the states.
We visited in February and were still quite comfortable eating outside and leisurely walking to the numerous attractions.
Just so you're not taken by surprise, the sidewalks can be somewhat uneven so you want to make sure to avoid tripping hazards. That small bit of care is richly rewarded by what you get to see and experience.

Thessaloniki is a city with hectic nightlife and excellent food tradition. Last month I attended a two-day seminar that took place in there, and I was lucky enough to get a small taste of this historical town. Unfortunately, I didn't have time to do any sightseeing but most of the sights can be seen in a long promenade along the beach or from Aristotle Square to Kamara. The hotel receptionist was also kind enough to recommend a couple for traditional taverns with local food in Ladadika, the best spot for an unforgettable night out. Of course, once you go to Thessaloniki, you should definitely try the cream-filled pastry and other traditional desserts. We took a stroll by the sea, we passed by the lovely Aristotle square with the fabulous cafes until we reached the White Tower.
There are surprisingly many bars right opposite the seaport full of young crowds. We found a jazz bar by chance, one of those hidden gems in the street corner that is not hard to find in Thessaloniki. We listened to some great musicians playing jazz and we had the best time. I 'm thinking that maybe i should visit this town again soon. They say that Halkidiki, few min drive from Thessaloniki, is a great place for holidays so maybewe combine both.

In my opinion it is the best city for nightlife in Greece.
In my opinion it is the best city for nightlife in Greece. I've been to other cities, including Athens, but Thessaloniki's culture is very vibrant. It feels like weekend every day. People are friendly, there are numerous places for food&drinks, bars, modern hotels. Everything you need for a weekend gateway. Definitely recommend it!

The room was cramped but the balcony was spacious and had a great view. The bed was pretty comfy - but I am very glad I brought my own pillow, since the ones they provide are not great. Two of the men working at reception were not as completely honest as they could have been.
My husband and I liked this hotel very much. It is located in the heart of Thessaloniki. It is minutes away from Aristotelous Square, the Ladadika area, the bazaar and the waterfront promenade. Our hotel room spacious with beautiful windows and the balcony. Everything was very clean. There is a small elevator. Staff was extremely helpful and friendly, offering to help us with anything we needed. We would return to this hotel.
Location was 11/10. Lively area of thessaloniki, everything you could want was no longer than 2 minute walk. During the night it was calm and peaceful so no trouble falling asleep. The room and bathroom were big. One more thing for me was this cute blonde waiter in Mangiare gastrobar just outside the hotel that made it worth the price.
The Staff would put Thessaloniki on the tourist map; eagerly helpful and welcoming. Breakfast was amazing: plentiful and delicious. Great coffee. Lunch also very good and creative. Location very central, but very very crowded on weekend nights, prowl through the crowds in the pedestrian alley to get to the hotel.
A small hotel in the center of Thessaloniki. I don't know when it was built but it was clean and spotless like out of the box. A very spacious room for three with a spacious bathroom with all the amenities and the appliances working perfectly. Upon arrival they treat you with bottled water and a bottle of wine.
Staff were brilliant. Really friendly and helpful especially Beach Bar, Restaurant and main bar staff. Rooms and beds were large and comfortable. Very wide choice and decent quality food in the buffet restaurant. Tons of sun beds available around the pools and on the beach. Gorgeous beach by the hotel.

The location was perfect, very walkable to the sights, restaurants, and coastal road. The decor of the hotel was beautiful, and it was very clean. The breakfast was tasty and customer service was excellent. I’d highly recommend this hotel to anyone visiting Thessaloniki.
