Nice and charming city, with typical architecture for cities in Greece, all buildings almost the same size and very close to each other with narrow streets and sidewalks (looks chaotic and cute at the same time). Lots of cafes and restaurants in the city center. Visited for the New Year and were surprised how everything was decorated, every street, square, tree... Do not miss the fortress and the view from there.
Sunset is great as the city is oriented to the west.
Also highly recommend to visit Archaia Olympia (where Olympic games in ancient Greece were held) which is 1.5 hours away by car.
Be careful in the traffic in the city center as it is very chaotic, during 5 days experienced several cases where cars just did not stop on a red light (when for pedestrians was green!).
Another negative side - extremely expensive fee for driving over the bridge if entering the city from north (14.7 eur per car for one direction!)

Patra is a wonderful city, bustling and peaceful at the same time. We drank very delicious Greek coffee in quite a few cafes. The castle offers a wonderful view of the city. We tasted great wines at Achaia Clauss.

Patra is the key location for any traveler who wants to mix sunbathing days with history lessons experiences. One can easily get to more than 5 beaches located nearby, all with crystal clear waters and either pebbles or sand, where sunbeds can be found. At the same time, there are multiple other historical locations that can be visited (Epidavros, Delphi, Ancient Olimpia, temple of Apollo, Micene, etc.). All the small villages along the coast offer exquisite views and interesting things may be learnt from them (see Nafpaktos and Lepanto)

Patras is worth visiting for its architecture and night life. There are some very good restaurants too, we ate in Prego in the old city and is a quirky restaurant with excellent Mediterranean dishes. Stroll around the pedestrian areas and you will be stunned by the liveliness of the city. Stop for a drink at Treli Rodia an old time favourite and speak to the owner Alexis to learn about the Patras he has experienced

Patras is the third largest city in Greece, it is a very lively place and has many young people. There are ferries to all the Ionian Islands from Patra and nearby Killini. Patras is best known for its Rio-Antirio bridge. It is a real pleasure to swim on one of the beaches near the bridge and watch the huge mountains across the road.
I stayed in Patras because I arrived on the ferry several hours late and didn't want to go on to my planned destination at that point. I had a wonderful dinner at the restaurant as well as a great breakfast. Whether you stay there or not, the restaurant is amazing. It's one of those places where you can have creative, delicious meals at better than reasonable prices because it's in a town not known for its cuisine. And the hotel is great as well. The staff took wonderful care of me.
The interior of the hotel and of the rooms is amazingly beautiful, really...very aesthetically pleasing. Everything in the room and bathroom functioned well (save the valuables safe which was not working). The shower was a bit small for me. The room lighting was attractive and subtle but I could have used maybe one brighter light at night to read by. Noise was fairly minimal, except during the day when the housekeepers were cleaning.
Excellent hotel in perfect location for exploring Patras. Wonderful, spacious, modern, clean and well-equipped room with huge balcony and sea view. Beautiful, lavish breakfast taken on roof top terrace. Super friendly and efficient staff. Secure, free parking on site. Thank you for making us feel so welcome and providing us with an extremely comfortable, enjoyable and memorable stay in Patras.
It is an elegant small hotel in the centre of the city and entertainment precinct. The staff were charming, especially Gerasimos,? as well as the other staff. I stayed there decades ago with my parents, so it was a bit of a nostalgia trip for me. Over the years, the hotel has become somewhat more luxurious, but remains thankfully unpretentious.
The Castello City Hotel is a very clean, comfortable and modern hotel conveniently located in the centre of Patra. It is just a short walk to many of the cafes, bars and restaurants of central Patra. The check-in staff were very friendly and helpful and the breakfast the following morning was very good indeed.
Location is great, next to train and bus stations and very close to lots of restaurants and cafes. The room was very spacious with a comfortable armchair, a good sized table to work and and had a good selection of TV channels.
I always stay at this hotel when in Patras!
Great apartment in the center of the city. Easy access and a lot of free parking places in front of it. 3 bedrooms and an additional living room with a kitchen box. Very clean and has an artistic style. It has a huge terrace, facing the biggest church in Greece.
Everything was exceptional- most western style hotel we encountered in a central city location parking, welcoming, staff professionalism and quality, breakfast, elevator, room cleanliness and comfort, modern throughout, nice walk into shopping district etc.
Absolutely beautiful room - the bathroom was fantastic and so was the view of the Garden. The restaurant in the hotel was one of the best meals we had in Greece. Incredible stay - we will be returning to the Bold Type Hotel when we stay in Patras again!
Great size room and good facilities, clean room and excellent size and wifi.
Great Buffet breakfast (included) and fantastic view from rooftop bar/restaurant.
Attentive staff and the hotel was spotless.
Overall a fantastic experience.
We were upgraded to a sea view. The view was awesome. The room and Hotel was modern. Free parking. There were a lot of cafes near by. seemed to be a younger crowd. We found a very nice Restaurant for dinner down the street.
The large room we received had a splendid terrasse with a view on the city center and the sea! And the hotel was right on one of the main streets of the car-free city center of Patras - fantastic location to enjoy the city.
The hotel was very beautiful and the room was very spacious. The location was perfect, the staff was very friendly. We forgot some clothes in the hotel when we checked out and they called us back to pick them up.
