This property is located on a pedestrian only street so there is no traffic noise. I was able to park two blocks away in the free parking lot along the harbor. They have a shaded seating area outside which is great for people watching and relaxing. Within a block or two there are many great restaurants, stores and museums. The breakfasts available for an additional 7.5 euro PP are excellent.

Located in the heart of Nafplio’s old town, Omorfi Poli offers tasteful rooms with free wireless internet access, just a 5-minute walk from the bus stop. The family-run Omorfi Poli offers a variety of high-ceilinged rooms, each with its own character and decoration. All rooms are air-conditioned and have hairdryers and flat-screen, satellite TVs, while some also have balconies. A delicious breakfast of freshly baked pastries and home-made jams is served each morning. Guests may enjoy a selection of light meals and beverages in the property's snack bar. The Folklore Museum is opposite the pension and the promenade and Palamidi Fortress is just a short stroll away. Galleries, restaurants and shops can be found right next to the Omorfi Poli. Free parking is available in less than a 10-minute walk from the hotel.

The history of our place goes back to the years 1860 when the sea walls were demolished and a new district was created: the neighborhood of the shore (synoikia tou gialou). All buildings were built in Neoclassical rythm and being close to the port, they were used as shops and warehouses rather than residential buildings. The space between ours and the neighbor house hosted the bastion and was the entrance to the city. The building changed owner and purpose many times through the years. During world war 2 it hosted the Italian soldiers, who used the 1st floor as living area and the ground floor as ristorante. It is said that chef Giovanni was a generous man and he would always cook some extra portions makaroni to share with the Greeks. Later, in the time of Greek Military Dictatory, the house was used as police department, then it hosted the school for Electricians and in the late 1960ies it was rented by the German Archaeologic team when they restarted the excarvation works at the Acropolis of Tyrins. In 1995 we rented the house and transformed it into a small hotel. Since then we have hosted travellers from all over the world.
We are a Greek-German couple and in Tourist industry since 1990. My husband Giannis is a professional cook and responsible for the gastronomic part. Whereas front office, reservations and customer service is my part. Speaking 4 languages I enjoy communication with our guests and am happy to have this exciting job getting to know people from different countries and learnig about their situation. Unfortunately, we have only few free days where we enjoy travelling ourselves.
The Omorfi Poli is right in the heart of the historical old town, near the port. This part of the old town is called Synoikia tou gialou, which means "neighborhood of the shore". The streets are pedestrian and one can leave his car at the public parking at the port which is only a few steps away. Our Sofroni street is one of the nicest little streets in Nafplio and surprises you with the colourful bougainvilles, the beautiful restored Neoclassical buildings and the small and sophisticated designer shops. Mostly run by the artisian itself offering handmade and high quality products, So you can find hand made jewellery, beautiful handmade scarves at Anna's felting shop, paintings, children's designer clothes and many more. You can even print your own T-shirt with whatever you have in mind at Basili's T-shirt shop. There are plenty of restaurants and cafes in walking distance. And not to forget the Folk Art Museum which is just opposite our house and worth visiting. Here you can get an idea of how life was in Greece throughout the centuries.
