A Greek Island almost entirely for Greeks. Most people seem to speak some English, specially in any hospitality places. Not touristy, not glitzy or fashionable - all positive attributes. This is not an island for tourists looking for anything...
This is not an island for tourists looking for anything glamorous or totally catered-for. It's a quiet & subdued island frequented by Greeks who have a family property/connection to the place but probably live on the main land most of the year. You need to be well-prepared & don't expect to have a night club, taxi service or cocktail bar nearby! Nevertheless - it's perfect for some peace & quiet without having to travel too far or have to deal with ferries from Pireaus in high-season. The 10 minute crossing from Nea Peramos is great - usually every 30 mins about 6e for 3 persons + car.
