Kalabaka is a city with traditional houses and Meteora is very close. You can visit some of the monasteries. We went to the museum of physical history with animals and birds that lived there, which was very nice, to the mushroom museum and to the digital projection center of Meteora's history and culture. The food also was excellent.

The monasteries of Meteora are place of spiritual renewal.
The monasteries of Meteora are place of spiritual renewal. The Byzantine art and the historic architecture elevate the soul. I was fortunate enough to half ten minutes alone in the chapels of both the Varlaam and Holy Trinity monasteries in between the flow of tourists and found it to be peaceful and prayerful. The natural scenery of the area, including the sunsets, has no equal anywhere I have been, and watching the sun change the colors of the rocks and the monastery buildings as it set in the west was truly amazing. Kalabaka is a bit built up and a mile or two further away from the rocks. Stay in Kastraki for a really Greek village experience.

Kalambaka is an interesting small town with many restaurants, gift shops, souvenirs shops. But the main attractions are the mountaintop monasteries from the 14-15th century that seem to float as you look up.
Taking a tour is very helpful because you get the history of the area and the monasteries, and you do not have to concentrate on driving.
Don’t forget to visit the Natural History Museum and the Mushroom Museum housed together. We have such respect for mushrooms now!

Upon arrival, the front desk gave some recommendations for a great restaurant, The Taverna to Paramithi. The food was great, (don't mind the cats) the live music was warm and generous. The bakeries were stellar. The e-bike rental shop on Ioanninon St. was a good find.

Beautiful views, you can either walk around by foot (including hiking to all monasteries in area) or take guided tour. There's also climbing area. Food is delicious. Perfect choice for 2-3 days trip to escape from city.
This is a very clean, comfortable, stylish family-run pension hotel, very short walking distance to several excellent taverna restaurants, and with views of some of the Meteora rock formations and Orthodox monasteries. A short drive to the main roads that lead to the monasteries. We had a very comfortable room with a shaded balcony, table and chairs. Also, an excellent continental breakfast each morning in the front sitting room.
Perfect and quiet location, the rooms are with a splendid view on the Meteora rocks and 2 of the monastery; the personnel is verry kind and helpful; there is a few verry good tavernas, coffee, market and stores in less than 250m from the hotel; on friday there is a street vegetables market; and last but not least, it is verry practical if you came with your own ot rental car, there is plenty of free places in front of the hotel.
Everything . A short 5 min.walk to bus and train station ,restaurants , shopping and 3 min walk to get local buses to visit monasteries, for €5.50 you can get a day pass for the buses ,it’s like a hop on off bus so you don’t have to book a tour. Excellent buffet breakfast , staff extremely efficient and helpful. Great value , spent 3 weeks travelling around Greece and this was the best hotel we stayed at.
Our group of 14 girlfriends hailing back to college days had a most comfortable and enjoyable stay at Dellas Boutique Hotel. It is in a beautiful location with amazing views of Meteora.
The staff, besides being helpful and accommodating to our requests, turned many a blind eye (and deaf ear!) to this boisterous bunch of buddies !
Would definitely recommend this Hotel, you will not regret it.
Hotel is located just outside Kalampaka in a cosy and quiet environment that offers a wonderful view of the rock fomations and a coupe of the monasteries. It has plenty parking space, roomy, clean, bright, and stylishly furnished rooms with big windows and cozy beds. There are many sitting areas in the hotel including sunny terraces and patios. Coffee and jam offerings were excellent.
This is a lovely hotel in the perfect location to visit Meteora. Staff are very helpful, breakfast is great, it was quiet while we were there and above all - the view from our room and balcony: the unique rocky landscape of Meteora - fantastic! The price we paid was not the cheapest of where we stayed in Greece but overall good value for money, considering what you get for it.
Best view from the hotel "ever". Front desk person was very helpful. We reached after midnight in rain and lost our way in dark. He answered our call and came over to us to guide us to the hotel. Location is difficult to find in the night, even with Google maps. Breakfast had amazing selection. I'd say staying at this hotel was a highlight of our Greece trip.
It has an excellent location and is only minutes walk from the train station, town center (restaurants, shops etc). The reception is outstanding and very helpful and accommodating to us. The breakfast is fantastic and has plenty of options and variety. The price per night is reasonable. I will definitely recommend this hotel when in Kalambaka/ Meteora.
Beautiful hotel, with spacious, rich rooms, exactly as in the photos. Perfect complement to the grand and lofty setting of Meteora, and an excellent base for your stay. Well located, 15 minutes from the train station on foot, and right at the start of the hiking path up to the holy trinity monastery.
This is a lovely hotel situated between two towns right under the monasteries of Meteora. The staff is friendly and very helpful. They gave us maps & info on the monasteries, as well as excellent restaurant recommendations.
Our room was immaculate and roomy, with a beautiful view from the balcony.
Really friendly, toast, and amazing local dinner! The view from the balcony is spectacular in the morning and we stayed for extra night looking forward to coming back after our walk during the day. The hotel is on the sunrise side of Meteora and the morning sunlight on the rocks is magical.
The hotel is in centre of Kastraki and close to Monastery of Saint Nicholas. It's very convenient for a hike or sightseeing in Meteora. It has a private parking. The owner was really kind. The room is as in the photo, clean and well equipped with air-conditioner and heating if you need.
The location, view, earthy decor, friendly staff and super comfortable beds. Oikia was the best hotel we have stayed in during our four week vacation in Greece. Early morning hike to Varlaam monastery was amazing!!!
Thank you for the travel tips and complimentary cappuccinos:)

A renewed hotel. Our room was small but very nice and clean with the view on the village. Very close to Meteora monasteries. You may drive 6-7 minutes or go by foot. Good breakfast.
