Ένα ξενοδοχείο πάνω στη θάλασσα... αυτό τα λέει όλα !!
The old town, or Chora. But you have to be mobile to access it on foot. Worth the effort. To get the best out of Skiros, a car is recommended. We had 'trouble' with a taxi driver coming from the port, but our hosts were upset on our behalf and personally took us back on our return ( via a deliberately longer route) so we saw mountain villages, churches and views we never would have known about. So kind.

Skiros has everything a traveller could want, except big disco's and party places. Other than that it has sun, surf, nature, food, food, food, really great people, no crowds, little or no traffic, and more great people. Did I mention the food? I think you get my drift. And the Anemos Seaside House is definitely one of a kind. Totally unique and absolutely fabulous.

There are very few reviews of this island.
There are very few reviews of this island. Most tourists are Greek except for in Atsitsa where you'll find many British and other nationalities due to the English-based wellness resort there (the reason I went there too).
I flew to Skyros from Athens, it seemed the best value and quickest way to get there (30 mins flight). Then took a taxi to my apartment - please prebook the taxi as its a tiny airport with no taxis readily available. I booked a random apartment based on how it looked with no idea of locations. Locals are super friendly, location ended up being close to perfect and within walking distance of the beach and the town centre (40 mins walk- sounds long but it's a part of the experience). Town centre is pretty amazing and definitely worth a visit with many small shops and restaurants, English spoken in most places and beautiful historical architecture. View in every direction is stunning.
Beaches will differ based on where you are - from sandy beaches to pebble beaches. I found the water to be a little cooler than I was hoping for but as the heat wave continued, the water heated up. I personally would rebook closer to the town centre as it gives you many more options of things to do, plus you have many beaches around you (Molos, Gyrismata etc). Atsitsa is probably the most beautiful place I've been to but its mostly pebble beaches. Be prepared to reserve money for cab rides as its hard to get around Skyros otherwise, unless you rent a car/bike. Trips from most parts of the island to the town centre costs around EU$30-40.
Overall, I'll definitely be back as it's not too touristy, has tons of character, friendly locals and amazing views.

The small port of Linaria is charming, clean, beautiful and it feels safe to walk around Delicious Greek food with friendly Greek staff abounds in the tavernas. I enjoyed watching families and children enjoying the port and eating, in this small yacht and fishing port. Staying at King Lykomides with beautiful rooms with beautiful views of the Linaria port and welcoming host Soula was the best! The arrival of the ferry in Linaria is complete with music and joy. There is a small beach about a ten minute walk from the port where you can rent umbrellas and lounge chair and eat at a family run taverna. Also you can take a taxi or rent a car to visit Magazia beach and the authentic old village town square. This was an authentic Greek island experience.

I've been a lot in Sardinia (Alghero, La Madelena, Olbia,...
I've been a lot in Sardinia (Alghero, La Madelena, Olbia, Baja Sardinia,...) because I love sea and beaches (most beautiful sea beaches in EU I think) and I've been also in Corfou, Creta, Rhodes.... But in Greece I think Skyros is truelly the best I've been and might even greater than Sardinia.
The island is beautiful with amazing beaches for all tastes, and beautiful spots. I think there is a perfect mix of rough-roots spots with locals, and more elaboraed and refined place such as Ammeoudia Beach Bars. The beach bars in Molos and anywhere are mostly really well done with amazing view, respectfully integrated, designed with charm and taste, with good food & fresh drink at a very fair prices. Also there a re beautifl spot to enjoy watching the the amazing views, and Skyros Old Town is well preserved with a lot of charm and style.
Mostly this location especially knowns by ahtenians is not too much touristic, which make everyones and especially locals at ease and laid-back.

Nice, quiet place.
Nice, quiet place. Not a lot of tourists in the middle of September. Excellent food in many places. Nice sea, strong winds (not suitable for swimming everyday). Skyros is famous for its ceramics, but we didn't see something new. There are lots of nice old churches, but most of them are locked. The Castle offers a marvelous view, while it takes some effort to climb to the top. The southern part of the island is a very interesting rocky mountain, with almost no people, just goats and rocks.
Ferogia has the perfect location of them all. Magazia is a great sandy beach with the best point of view to the most picturesque feature of the Skyros - the village on the hill under the rock. There are good food and drink places around the corner and the village centre is 20 minute walk away (albeit uphill but that is the whole fun). The guest house features comfortable clean value for money rooms and a public coffee/bar terrace plus beach sunbeds and shade served by the same bar. What else does one need on a fairly quite Greek island?
Traditional old house, converted for tourist use. The view is very nice, being just below the old monastery and castle to the top of the town! The location is in the heart of the original town! Access is easy using a car up to 50 meters from the entrance, but to get to the shops and the cafes, you can navigate the old, narrow, medieval, classic "Greek island style" backstreets!!! The mattresses and the beds in general, were exceptional!!! The fully equipped kitchen and the washing machine were welcome!
Amazing hotel, on the seafront of beautiful Magazia, very safe for vacation. When we arrived they offered us a free welcome drink. Very kind movement! Hotel had a nice decorated and clean rooms. Had a great time in the wonderful pool. The town was really interesting, great night life with lots of people in the cafeterias and restaurants. Delicious food and lovely places to take long walks and explore the history and culture of this full-of - history area. Highly recommended without hesitate!
The room and the bathroom were excellent. The space was big, very clean, relaxing. The decoration was respectful of the island aesthetics. The bed was comfortable. Excellent wifi connection. The swimming pool and the swimming pool space was big and not loaded. You felt like you could breathe and let go. Beautiful gardens around the apartments. Very good value for money. It really felt like holidays.
Laundry service was available and the hotel had a very fast wifi in whole venues. Our suite was luxury and modern. The hotel is situated in a lovely place, so you can sit by the bar overlooking the poolside. Unfortunately as it was the end of the season, a lot of the nearby bars were closed but as the entertainment was good at the hotel we didn't mind too much. 10/10 and definitely recommended!
The owners are fantastically hospitable and helpful! I am very grateful for all their help (I asked for all sorts of things and they accommodated me at all times)!
There is parking space for your car.
The AC works really well.
It is near the Molos and Magazia beaches. From there, you can easily explore the east side of the island and it's still near the port (about 15 minutes drive).
We loved everything about this hotel! The exceptional detail to the design both externally & internally. The beautiful gardens, restaurant, bar and beach. The wonderful staff, always smiling & incredibly obliging. Absolutely delicious food & a great selection of wine. We cannot fault Alero, it’s an outstanding hotel!
Great stay, good property in a very affordably prices. Fast and easy check in/out, best services and polite staff. This place is quiet, very clean, near by the beach and we will definitely come back soon! Strongly recommend it to everyone who want something really good!
The studios are very comfortable with a nice view to Xora and situated in a location that allows you to be close to all amenities/beach and still enjoy the quietness of the island. The owner, Eleni, is so helpful and attentive that I felt at home. Very relaxing 7 nights.
Everything! After moving from a different hotel we were so thrilled with the Aelia! The owner is so friendly and helpful. Delicious breakfast served to your room every day. Gorgeous views. Wonderful pool. Bed is comfortable. Small kitchen came in handy. It was perfect!
Clean, comfortable rooms with a great view of the harbour, well located just right out of the ferry and close to some of the best restaurants on the island. And above all, the incredible host Soula who will make your stay in Skyros unforgettable.
Everything was excellent. The facilities, the service, the breakfast, the location meet the highest standards for a holiday in an island. Very polite, professional personnel. Their attention to detail makes a great impact. Highly recommended!
Kostas and his family were excellent hosts, very friendly and helpful.
The location was very good. Very close to the beach but also easy to get to chora (main town).
The room was spacious and clean, overall good value for money.
The room was perfect and I could not have had a better experience at Hotel Studio Cosy. Although I only stayed for one night, the room was in a great location so I had lots of time to explore the city and surrounding area.
Lovely hosts, very clean, excellent facilities, quiet location but close to local restaurants - lovely views of Skyros town - walkable from the apartment.
