Neighborhood info

The Neolithic settlement of Ftelia The excavation began in 1995 as a rescue and after stopping two years continues today as systematic Aegean University. The Neolithic settlement located in Ftelia of Mykonos, in the gulf of Panormos and north of the road leading to the village of Ano Mera. The location is just north oriented and thus exposed to the winds, which would make problematic living in it most of the time. The fact it is not uncommon, as Neolithic sites with similar orientation have been identified in other Cycladic islands, as in Kefalas Kea in Saliagko of Antiparos, in Grotta Naxos, in several places of Kythnos and elsewhere. Since the beginning of the investigation began to come to light in terms of building remains of a large prehistoric settlement. Thick deposits of 1.60 to 2.30 m. Have rescued four building phases, of which the oldest best preserved. In the last excavation season (2002) excavated the bulk of a building with walls Height. 1.50 m.
