Otzias was the perfect base to explore the island with its own beautiful beach and two tavernas within walking distance but also only 15 minutes drive from the main harbour and marina. It was about 30 minutes drive to the main town of Ioulis which is absolutely beautiful with lovely shops cafes and restaurants to explore. You can also visit the museum and see the ancient stone lion which is just outside the town. We also made the journey to the ancient site of Karthaia which involved a long hike down to a remote beach and a donkey ride back! Otzias is peaceful and quiet with a large beach.
Otzias is peaceful and quiet with a large beach. The weather was perfect, sunny everyday and pleasant at night. Nice tavernas but no other night-life. There aren't any local shops so always need to drive for the supermarket etc.
