Patmos is a unique Island with a rich history and beautiful scenary that remains authentic and unaffected by the limited tourism.
This Island will always surprise you with its beautiful beaches, old winding streets just big enough for pedestrians around Hora and the Ancient Monastery of St John that is still active after alomost 1000yrs.
The Food choices are excellent with many family run Tavernas with great Seafood and local specialties on offer and many Cafes, Beach Bars and local Bakeries that will ensure your waistline will be put under pressure :)

Patmos is a unique island with a busy little main town, quiet and peaceful bays (Grikos) and beaches (Kampos and Agriolivado) and of course the Saint-John Monastery that sits on top of Chora like a crown. If you look for a nice place to stay in Skala: try the Chris Hotel. They got great rooms with sea view at a very competitive price. If you need provisions you have to get them in Skala as super markets are scarce on the island.

Patmos is an amazing island.
Patmos is an amazing island. There are many things to see around the island, in Skala, Hora, Groikos and other places. The beaches are wonderful with crystal clear water. Especially, we enjoyed Psili Ammos beach and Livadi tou Geranou. The food is delicious. Nautilus is a great place to eat and enjoy the view from there as well as Tzivaeri in Skala. There is a boat trip from the port to a complex of islands near Patmos that worths giving a try if the weather is good. We found it easier to travel around the island by a rented car.

May was the perfect time of year as not so busy.
May was the perfect time of year as not so busy. People unbelievably friendly. Great fun hiring quad bikes and traveling around the island. Also hired a yacht for the day and went to Lipsi which was stunning. Skippers bar great fun! Loved our trip 😃

The two monasteries are superb.
The two monasteries are superb. The nuns' monastery is a bit overlooked but shouldn't be. It has gorgeous flower gardens and an outstanding art gallery of medieval art attached. And their little church is as finely frescoed as the monks' church. The Chora surrounding them seems completely Cycladic in style... out of place and sugarcubed in the stonier Dodecanese.
