The Woolpack was “bought” by Batemans Brewery from Home Brewery in Nottingham in the early 1990’s having just won their battle to retain independence; they had very little cash available and therefore bought it on an old fashioned agreement. This agreement committed them to buy a minimum volume of beer from them over a number of years and in return they “gave us” the pub. The pub had only just recently been repaired after a fire had taken the roof off. Batemans Brewery had always wanted the Woolpack due to its magnificent presence overlooking the historic Wainfleet Market Place, the Wainfleet Medieval Butter Cross, where John Wesley preached from, and the clock tower. Batemans Brewery have carried out the biggest and most comprehensive refurbishment of any pub in Batemans history at the Woolpack. It is now a truly magnificent quality local pub which the Brewery and community can be proud of. The Woolpack boasts an excellent public bar area and combined lounge/dining room along with seven bedrooms refurbished to a high standard. Great beer, great food, great accommodation and great hospitality!

Mike and Lynda have been running the Woolpack Hotel since February 2019. They have lived and breathed hospitality throughout their lives.

Wainfleet is an ancient port and market town on the east coast of Lincolnshire - now a great place for holidays - a good base for visiting Skegness and the Coast. Wainfleet stands on the Steeping River. The local section is known as the ’Haven’, or safe harbour. Wainfleet is famous for Magdalen College, Barkham Street and Batemans Beer. Wainfleet is self sufficient for shopping with a friendly Cooperative Supermarket, a butcher, a greengrocer, hairdressers, a newsagent, a petrol station (serving petrol over the pavement!!) and a fishing equipment and bait shop.
