    A quite dull village.

A quite dull village. Two pubs, The Angel is very much for the locals, enough said. The Woolpack is much better with a weekly quiz and is the only real place to eat in the Village in the evening. Fortunately the food is fine, with well cooked, generous portions. Batemans Brewery give tours and has lovely Brewery Tap, housed in the old windmill on site. Unfortunately this year it is only open from 10.30am until 4.00pm unless a special event is on. Food is served until 2.00pm although there are only three items on the menu.

I went to Wainfleet with friends to visit the Bateman's brewery visitor centre. As we were riding bikes we needed an overnight stop and the Woolpack in the village was a perfect location. The village centre seemed to be frozen in time with little or no modern development and was rather the better for it, though it also appeared to be somewhat depressed with several closed shops and a slightly run-down appearance in places, (a problem not unique to this village by any means). Brewery tour was very interesting, Woolpack hotel good value with very friendly and helpful staff. After the brewery tour we took a trip to Skegness which is a world away even if only a few miles down the road!
