Braid Hills Hotel, hotel in Roslin

Panoramic Edinburgh views and free parking are provided at this 19th-century hotel. Edinburgh’s centre is 10 minutes’ drive away, and guests can enjoy hearty breakfasts and free Wi-Fi.

Spacious room & en suite. Good value continental breakfast, although the coffee is from a big urn and the limited bread choice has to be toasted in one of those poor performing machines.

Kildonan Lodge Hotel, hotel in Roslin

This elegant 4-star Victorian hotel offers luxurious rooms featuring iPod docks, flat-screen TVs, sherry and shortbread.

The room was pretty clean and cosy. The breakfast was quite tasty. The location, while a ways out from Edinburgh, was next to a bus stop, so it was easy enough to get into town without having all the noise.

Ardmillan Hotel, hotel in Roslin

In Edinburgh’s West End, this family-run guest house offers free Wi-Fi, free parking and a traditional restaurant. The Ardmillan Hotel is a 20-minute walk from the Murrayfield Stadium.

Good value (for Edinburgh), in a good location - 15-20 mins walk from Haymarket station, and very well connected by buses. Old-style hotel, but provided a straightforward place to sleep for a decent price (again, for Edinburgh). Friendly and helpful staff. Decent shower. It's above a pub, but I had no trouble with noise during a midweek stay.

From the freshly baked bread that we were greeted with to the warm welcome we received, the whole stay was amazing. So much space as we have a young baby, this really helped. The hosts Dave & Irene make the accommodation what it is. The attention to detail is second to none. A beautifully styled and homely place to stay. Would recommend to anyone. So clean and fresh. Thank you for a lovely stay. David & Natalie Jackson

    It was a beautiful place.

It was a beautiful place. It has everything you need to be comfortable and more! We really enjoyed our stay. The bus stop to Edinburgh was just a few steps from the place and for a few pounds it took us directly to the Royal Mile. We left the car at the property. The owner is great. He gave us information about the country, advises, maps, etc. The property is perfect and it has thoughtful things to make your stay pleasant.

    What a wonderful atmospheric chapel.

What a wonderful atmospheric chapel. And the grounds were amazing too. We had a talk from a local lady who had lots of detailed descriptions of how the chapel came to be erected - and the stories surrounding the people who owned it, or worked there, or were apprenticed there. The site has a great Visitor Centre, with a varied selection of goodies to buy as mementos of our visit. They also have a cafe selling a range of snacks, breakfasts, brunches and lunches., hot and cold drinks. Super place, extraordinary chapel, interesting grounds and helpful, pleasent staff. I wouldn't say no to a repeat visit if we happen to be in the area again. 5 star+ experience.

I can highly recommend Templar loft. It was a 10\10 for us. I found it on booking.com and would absolutely return to visit this area again with my husband. This trip was with my 15 ur old daughter and we found it perfect. The bus 37 is right outside and takes you right into Edinburgh. There is a quaint little coffee attached too.

I took an OS guided walk along the river valley on a beautiful summer's evening. Peaceful and beautiful. Once in the city of Edinburgh, it shows itself well as a European capital, busy, historic and plenty to see and do. We ate at the local restaurant Cibo which was a very traditional UK Italian restaurant, senior clientele but very good food; the sauce base and break base authentic - they should focus on their traditional items, though.

Super village, beautiful walks, lovely dog friendly pub (Original Rosslyn Inn), Dollys Tea room and Old Chapel Guest House and of course the chapel. Nice little shop for gifts and cards, a convenience shop that sells everything and is open to 9pm. Big shout out to Noble Beauty! love the sort of consortium of folks and different treatment types (reflexology, Reikki, Sports massage, hair, nails and much more) - really unexpected but wonderful surprise - book early though as they are very popular. Very close to the Royal Dicks Vet Hospital which is why we were there. Local folks all super friendly and easy to take to and ask for ideas / suggestions of where to go. Easy to get to Edinburgh and beyond by bus and wonderful places to explore by car and head to the coast on the East too. We also spent a little time in North Berrick, Collinton and Linlithgow which we also liked. Beach walks at Yellowcraig and Country Walks also at Beecraigs (this place was vast and beautiful!

Location in easy reach of Edinburgh centre by regular public buses, a short walk into historic Roslin village and to Easter Bush campus. Pentland hills easily accessible if you have your own transport. A great location with city and country equidistant. Very comfortable beds, super clean and tidy. I don't think i've ever seen a larger television! Lovely touches like freshly made bread and flowers from the garden - so lovely and kind; almost making too much effort!

The staff were faultless. So helpful, friendly and accommodating. A wonderful place to stay! The restaurant in the hotel served tasty food and offered a variety of choices for both meat-eaters and vegetarians. The place has a lot of character and the surrounding area has lots on offer in terms of walks and close links to other towns and the city. Hoping to return in the future.

The staff went above expectations to insure we had a great stay. Restaurant was exceptional. Neighborhood Lounge and bar was on premise. Bus stop at hotel entrance. Loved the thick walls and breakfast room decor. But the staff is what makes this an excellent place to stay. Location is about twelve miles out of Edinburgh and is in walking distance to Roslyn Chapel.
