We only used Inverness as a central location for activities that we carry out i.e. following a Steam Train that was visiting the area so had no reason to visit anywhere in Inverness except for a couple of local eateries.

Good shopping centre, great riverside walks, historic buildings ( we didn't get chance to visit) and visiting loch Ness, this is 20minute bus ride away, personally I would recommend viewing from the bus as the cruise was nice but not good value for money.

It's an amazing city!
It's an amazing city! It's so beautiful, not big and crowdy, but at the same time you can find so many things to do there.
There are lots of places for a nice walk: along the river Ness, city center, Caledonial canal, woods. Loch Ness is just 20 minutes drive, castles, beaches are all not far.
The Botanical garden is small but really nice and it's free!
I enjoyed to visit Eden Court every evening - to watch a cinema or for a concert.
There are lot of nice restaurants.
The Dolphin spirit boat trip was astonishing as well!
Really recommend to visit

Everything was within walking distance of the apartment.
Everything was within walking distance of the apartment. The walk along the Banks of the River and across the bridges was exceptional particularly with the spring flowers adorning the flower beds and banks. Views to the Castle and the Cathedral made for beautiful photographs. If it's nightlife you're after plenty of pubs offering live entertainment of a high standard.
Choice of eateries to suit every pocket and every cuisine. No need to hire a car, as the bus station offers buses to a wide range of tourist destinations, Culloden, Nairn, Aberdeen, Skye and Glasgow to name only a few. We will definitely return to this vibrant friendly city. Shopping is also good both for tourist gifts and also for the shopping Mall experience in the Eastgate Centre. Maybe next time weather permitting we may see the Northern Lights? This city will leave you feeling you've had a break and enjoyed the walking experience.

Inverness is a great place to stay to take trips from, however not a great deal to do in Inverness itself. There is a lovely little botanical garden but took less than an hour to look round. The museum was dedicated to mostly the Jacobite period and taxidermy didn't spend too much time there, but they did have an exhibition on for bird photographer of the year which was amazing. Have a look round leaky's bookshop it full of old books you'd not find anywhere else. Old Victoria market also had some lovely shops. Plenty of places to eat and drink. Buses very confusing making self travel hard.
property was clean, modern with everything we needed. owners were away but instructions to arrive were perfect and they sent their daughter to ensure everything was good.
Owners knew we were arriving in a Sunday and offered to book us a table at a hotel within walking distance. was a blessing after a long driving day.
Fridge came stocked with essentials to make coffee and breakfast day 1, truly a big surprise and really appreciated. Best accommodation so far in Scotland.
The location of the hotel was it's best feature: easy walking from/to the train station, bus station, tour bus pickup and many of the Inverness attractions. The apartment itself was a spacious open area with living room and open kitchen. Kitchen was well equipped with coffee maker and microwave. Bedroom size was fine. The apartment was clean but appeared it had seen better days and the heater in the living area didn't function, thought the bedroom and bath heaters did.
Excellent, better than expected.
Fantastic, quiet location, at the same time close to amazing attractions, including castles, mountains, forest walks, Loch Ness, Inverness city centre, etc.
The cabin is clean, well maintained and equiped, including all the basics like tea and coffee, some games, dvds and a big box of lego our children enjoyed playing with.
Great, helpful and friendly hosts.
Amazing place for a family holiday in Scotland!
Highly recommended.
Strathness House is a historic mansion located in the heart of Inverness, Scotland. It boasts a perfect location, within walking distance of the city center and its main attractions, such as Inverness Castle and the River Ness.
Our room offered stunning views of the river. We liked the hotel's excellent location, its friendly and helpful staff, the historical charm of the building and attention to detail in the decor.
The room was clean and cozy, especially the bathroom was pretty. Breakfast was really good as well. The location was perfect if you visit Scotland by car. It''s like a 10 min walk into the center of Inverness, which was perfect. Had really good drinks in a bar called Scotch & Rye. Def. would book again :) The B&B host recommended to go to Chanonry Point to see Dolphins and we really saw some there, it was amazing!
Joyce and Alan were wonderful hosts. We felt very welcome and “at home”. They told us a lot about Scotland that we didn’t know and we also laughed a lot, which is always a good thing.
The artwork (wall art and wood carvings of birds) is outstanding. Why not a perfect score? Nobody believes perfect scores. This is an honest review that you can believe. You won’t be disappointed. We certainly weren’t.
Plenty of space for 7 adults, we didn't use the hot tub or barbecue area as added after we booked and didn't feel the need to pay the additional optional extra, however the garden looked great.
Very easy to walk to inverness and lovely walks along the river and canal. Good takeaway and restaurant service close by.
Perfect house for our family get together in a beautiful part of Scotland.
An absolute gem of a place! It had everything we needed (plus bonus breakfast foods and snacks). This was our favorite of all the places we stayed at during our entire time in Scotland! Great communication and check in instructions from the host. Parking spot is free and literally right outside the front door!
Very conveniently located and the kind owner let me keep my bike inside for the whole day after I checked out. It was a pity we could only have a takeaway breakfast as for the previous 14 nights in hotels and guest houses up the north west coast of Scotland we were able to have a fantastic cooked breakfast
We only stayed one night at Aye Stay as we were traveling towards Isle of Skye. The decor was wonderful and the breakfast was amazing. A big thank you to Roberta who gave us an ‘Aye Stay to the left bracelet’ when she found out we were driving in Scotland for the first time. 😁 Would stay here again.
Iggy is very welcoming and friendly.
The room was good and had a great bathroom, very warm and cosy. There is parking space, which is very important in Scotland!
It’s a small drive to Inverness, very easy to do and quickly.
The best, for me, the breakfast. Amazing breakfast 🥞😀
Great Apartment
New and cozy
Everything has been more than perfect!
From Berryfield as our base we visited: Isle of Skye, Inverness, Cairngorms, Orkney - and of course Loch Ness only a few minutes away. The perfect place to see all the great places of northern Scotland!
Wow! What a wonderful friendly hotel. Our room was clean and spacious and comfortable. Staff were all really friendly and helpful. The food was exceptional- our evening meal was the best we had so far on our Scotland holiday. Highly recommend this lovely hotel.
Everything was perfect, 2nd time staying in 2 weeks and 1st class, can't be faulted, 100% worth every penny, room, food, staff were 5***** can't wait to book again soon. Stayed all over Scotland in hotels and this is far the best for all round exceptions.
Russell was fun, accommodating, and made an excellent breakfast! We wish we could have had breakfast that first day but our tour left too early. Great little b&b - it's exactly what you picture for a b&b in Scotland! Cozy and lovely
Karen is a bona fide chef with a wide and deep knowledge of cuisines both Scottish and otherwise. We enjoyed the meal and good company and learning about the regional cuisines of Scotland. The dessert was something extra special.
beautiful location. Truly passionate about keeping this great place as the best B&B in Scotland. Love the garden and surroundings. Home made jams and fruit is fantastic
