Dreadnought Hotel, hotel in Callander

Centrally located in the popular holiday town of Callander, the Dreadnought Hotel is in the heart of the Trossachs. It is at the gateway to the Loch Lomond and Trossachs National Park.

Cooked breakfast at in-house cafe was good and filling, lots of veggie options. Family room was very spacious. Old hotel, a little tired but with character. Secondary glazing worked well to reduce traffic noise.

Callander is fantastic, we love it so much we keep going back. Very friendly people, wonderful location, great eating at the pubs and restaurants, and you have local shops to purchase what you need. My only thing is be mindeful of where your staying as if you need peace and quiet ask what time the music finishes....just saying. My favourite is the all year round Christmas shop....you've got to go it's amazing!!!!

Callander is a town surrounded by exceptional beauty but like a lot of towns has suffered from the pandemic and economic turmoil. It needs you! Help Callander get back to a bustling tourist location. It is a place for all seasons.

Nice, very safe, well kept, small town with good shops & restaurants, not far from Stirling. Although Roman Camp Hotel is very secluded, it’s actually on the Main Street, on the banks of the river Teith.

Callander is a lovely little town with plenty of shops, supermarkets, restaurants, take-aways and walks. The fisheries are beautiful, plenty of benches to sit at and walks around it. I had a fish supper from the Frying Dutchman which was superb, and the second night ate at The Riverside Inn which was equally as delicious. All very good prices. The wine shops are lovely and little gifts shops and plenty of cafes.

The Family Room was absolutely beautiful and so much bigger then we were expecting! The shower was so fancy too, even had body jets!! The bathroom itself was all modern and nicely done. The tea/hot chocolate and cookies were a nice touch as well. The location was excellent, 5 minutes from food and Icecream! We enjoyed the waterfall hike behind the hotel as well. Overall I would recommend this place, especially if they upgraded to more modern mattresses!

The location of the Dreadnought hotel is excellent. It's an old hotel which has been there since1870, it's a nice building and has lots of character. Our room was spacious and clean with a terrific view onto the main street and the river and meadow just across the road. There's free parking and price wise it was very reasonable. Although its by no means a five star we had a very pleasant stay there and do intend to stay here again

I loved staying in this well designed guest house, which I would definitely call a hotel rather than a guest house. There were some lovely surprising amenities available during my stay. Location is great although parking can be challenging at times. Host (Jan) is great, very welcoming, helpful and kind throughout my. Breakfast was gorgeous with good selection. I would definitely stay again if I happen to be in the area.

The apartment is in a quiet alley right off the center of town. It is an extended attic including a seating area, kitchen, two bedrooms and two showers. It is very convenient and cozy. As a nice added touch, there were also board games, children's books, guidebooks and pamphlets (not advertisements), and the owners recommended bars with live music nearby.

The hotel is in a very good location, just a 7 minute walk from the main bus stop in Callander and with the twin room placed quietly out the back. Good decor, contained menu for breakfast and very helpful hosts. Our beds were very comfy and the shared bathroom is very good - huge!
