I was born and brought up in Troon so I am biased.
I was born and brought up in Troon so I am biased. Troon is a lovely seaside town full of lovely freindly people. The town has a decent selection of shops. I found the town very quiet compared to how it was when I grew up.

Lovely wee coastal town with good eateries for every pocket and nice wee independent shops to explore. Swimming pool, library, pretty town hall and two scenic beaches. Troon is within easy reach of other Ayrshire seasde towns like Prestwick and Ayr. Kilmarnock is also within reach and Glasgow is an easy drive up the M77. However there is a train station too and if you enjoy golf you'll be spoilt Parking in the town is free and plentiful.
Not a review of Troon per se but to holiday letters in general - these key boxes are murder on arthritic fingers - I have a splt fingernail with underlying blood blister to prove it. Ouch!
Also note to Booking.com - please don't put a union flag beside my name in the reviews!

The food was imaginative, delicious and the chef met every one of my companion’s food allergies!
The staff was very friendly and very professional. The room was lovely! There was no mold which was another allergy. Car park was on the property and the beach was across the street. It was exceptional!

My husband, Colin and I, love Troon.
My husband, Colin and I, love Troon. We live in Glasgow and it only takes about 40 minutes to get there, so we go as often as we can. There are excellent charity shops and a great travel agency (Stewart Travel) where we book all our holidays. We love the beach and the ice cream kiosk and on the first of every month there is an indoor car boot sale in the town hall. My husband loves the Pavillion chip shop and he also stays in Troon each winter for Winterstorm Rock Festival. I'm afraid I can't recommend the 3 Idiots Restaurant, as the food is overpriced and not very nice, and the service is dreadful. Avoid this place like the plague and you'll have a great time in Troon!

Quiet and understated.
Quiet and understated. There are a few ok places to eat but nothing spectacular. The surrounding area is perfect for quiet walks. Maybe there was more to Troon but as we were only there for 2 days it's difficult to say we know it well.
We stayed as we were attending a wedding and the staff were great all day and night. The food was great, never went for our breakfast so can’t comment on that, but others that we spoke to before we went home said that the breakfast was really good wish we went now. Our little out house (mews) was amazing just across from the main hotel. Nice sitting area separate from the bedroom and was nice and clean. There was even an umbrella supplied incase it was raining to get to and from the main hotel.
Staff was extremely friendly and welcoming. They were very accommodating, helping ensure we had a secure place to leave our bike overnight. The location was central and easy to find. I really like old hotels with character and this one had plenty! While the building is old, the bathroom was renovated. I really liked having a bathtub to relax in after cycling for the past 3 weeks. Breakfast was made to order, filling, and tasty. Quiet location and comfortable bed made for a good night’s sleep.
The hotel is lovely, and the decorations for the Christmas period were beautiful however, the main reason I would choose to visit The Marine Troon again are for the most amazing team of staff. I don’t know what the recruitment or training is like but you are definitely doing something very right. They were so friendly, chatting to us and making a fuss of the dog. Nothing was a problem and they all had time for each guest to help make them feel welcome. They were all outstanding.
It was a last minute booking and I was surprised to be given a room on the ground floor near the restaurant. I have stayed at this hotel before and usually I have to climb the stairs ! The room was large with a double as well as a single bed and very comfortable. The scottish breakfast, as usual, was excellent and one of the reasons why I like staying at this hotel. There was a race meeting on in the ballroom, after the Scotland game; I think everyone had a good time !
The location was excellent.. it was a nice layout except the very narrow walk between the tub...well supplied with utensils...living room couches and dining table were good....the neighbor was friendly.... I am originally from Troon and Love my beautiful hometown! My wife and I were discussing coming back to stay for a month and would certainly stay here again if the suggested repairs were completed! Thanks for having Us...
The hotel supassed our expectation as it was superb. The room and public area was spotless, modern and beautifully furnished with every amenity one would need.
It is set in beautiful gardens a short walk to the golf course and a wide open beach.
The breakfast was made to order and excellent.
We cannot recommend this hotel enough and we look forwrad to staying therte again.
Lovely apartment. Very conveniently placed. 2 minutes from the Lido and a chip shop.
Walking distance to the supermarket and beach.
We were there in November, so weather wasnt great but it was cosy and everything there to make it a comfortable stay.
5 minutes drive to the Marine Hotel and Piersland House.
Will definitely return
This is a great hotel. The staff are so friendly and helpful. The beds are comfortable and the place is nice and clean. Dinners and breakfast were excellent. I totally recommend this place if you are going to troon. As it is in a great location only a few minutes walk to the beach and in some rooms you have a sea view. Brilliant.
Very comfortable hotel about 1.5 miles (5 mins drive) from sea front in Troon. Very clean and well kept. Spacious bedrooms, pleasant restaurant, good menu with specials each day. Good buffet style breakfast with hot food served to order to your table. Friendly and helpful staff.
We had a great stay in Troon: the house was spacious (especially the enormous master bedroom), the location was great for a walk on the beach, communication was perfect. In short, we had everything we needed. We'll certainly be back when we are next in the area.
Ideal location for us with a car, to then visit the rest of the south east shore line. Scotland pétanque we’re hosting the Home Nations Pétanque Tournament in Troon. A stones throw away from the beach. Property was clean and comfortable.
Clean, tasteful, well maintained, good facilities In room. Everything worked! Good TV. Lovely bathroom and shower. Staff very helpful and accommodating. The terrace area very dog friendly. Good storage.
Staff couldn't door more for me, the room was spotless and internet, TV's and kitchen facilities were all top notch! On site restaurant though not associated with hotel also had great staff and food.
This is our second time at this lovely little hotel. We like the service and the food. The hotel is in a very small village and you need a car to get into Troon but that doesn't matter to us.
