We had a lovely two night birthday stay at Hawthorne cottage - nestled in the Sperrin countryside it was cosy, clean with a lovely blend of modern facilities and traditional quaint cottage feel. Loved using the table tennis with our 4 year old boy and plenty of garden space to kick a ball. Bbq facilities outside with a great sized outdoor table for evening dinners. We got an excellent welcome from our host who had gone out of their way to make us feel welcome to the area. Our boy loved going to pick the freshly laid eggs when he woke at 7am! Which we then ate alongside some local Irish wheaten bread. I managed to enjoy the local quiet roads to do some hill running and we explored the area as a family including the Drum Manor forest Park (beautiful lakeside walks with great family facilities), Gortin Glen forest Park (excellent play park!!!! And mountain bike trails) and the American Folk museum (take a picnic!).

The cottage is lovely inside and out and there are great facilities including lovely books on the area, a games room in the old smythie with table tennis, swings for the children and best of all 5 chickens in the coop providing fresh eggs and great interest for children. The Sperrin is a lovely area with good access to most areas in NI and lovely Donegal beaches

It was a very well stocked with a beautiful welcoming basket. The children loved gathering the eggs for breakfast and picking blackcurrants from the garden. The property was very clean with sanitiser and some masks provided. The beds were very comfortable. It also had great WiFi. There is a Centra shop is within 5mins walk to top up on your food. With temperatures hitting 30C nationwide this old cottage with its thick walls provided a cool sanctuary from the scorching heat.

Hawthorn Cottage is beautiful a little peace of tranquility. A hidden gem of peace & relaxation. Beautifully decorated. Very very clean Well stocked with everything you could need for a comfortable stay. Catriona is an excellent host, a very lovely lady, very welcoming & friendly. The cottage was cosy & fresh , a beautiful welcome of fresh produce, home baking & wine was laid out on the kitchen table for us to enjoy. The very healthy Hens provided us with fresh eggs each morning & fresh strawberries grew along the edge of the back garden stone wall. The people in the village are very friendly & helpful when we took a wrong turn. The scenery is beautiful. A very relaxing chilled time. There is a well stocked Centra shop within walking distance & a pub just opposite the shop. Omagh is just a 15-20minute drive away. It is well worth a visit & we would absolutely return.
