Breakfast was superb however, we were not informed on first day we could help ourselves to open 'it looked lovely' continental breakfast before having a cooked breakfast, then charged as 'an walk in' which included charging for cups of tea, even though we had stated our room number. This was resolved by Michelle 'Deputy Manager' who welcomed us to a full breakfast experience the following morning. Superb customer service. Thank you Michelle

Every member of staff was polite, helpful and absolutely wonderful. Breakfast was lovely and was the bar & spa. Only criticism would be some parts of the rooms were a little shabby (damp marks walls) considering the price of the room. And we felt the main restaurant dinner was a bit of a let down
Very attractive, quaint seaside location. Typical characterful former fishing village with narrow lanes and gorgeous views across to Instow. Many pubs and restaurants serving local caught fish dishes. Parking might be a problem during busy periods of the year though.

The main promenade area is nice enough, couple of good restaurants, The Yard for one, but Appledore is a bit run-down in places. A bit further along is Westward Ho, a fairly low-key, functional place. We drove an hour to Woolacombe and ilfracombe instead. We should have stayed over that way.

Lovely little town. Good walks along the foreshore. Great views across the river. Some nice pubs, especially The Champ. We brought our lab puppy and he had a great time too. Plenty to do and see locally. Recommend a trip to Clovelly and to Instow beach.

A lovely Devon coastal village with a well-stocked shop, a great selection of restaurants and pubs and some lovely walks (although some of the hills are quite steep if you are not used to hills). It is a very friendly place to stay too and is handy for the beautiful beaches of the North Devon coast.
We thoroughly enjoyed The Seagate (dog-friendly) for great food at a good price and the friendliness of The Beaver Inn (which also does great food but we did not eat there as the number of tables available for people with dogs is limited and it is a very popular pub with visitors and locals alike).
We will definitely return!

right on seafront with easy walk to all of appledore. try the 'yard' restaurant new to appledore, plenty places to eat and drink lovely quaint village. we had a lovely cosy and comfortable stay at the seagate during a very wet and windy, cold weekend. staff were lovely.
Spacious, modern, clean and tastefully decorated. Great TV, wifi and Alexa (for all the music you can want). Excellent bedding and linen. Super shower in bathroom downstairs. Well-equipped kitchen including a dishwasher, washer, tumble drier and small freezer. Great location just a few minutes walk from the Quay in Appledore. Free street parking nearby mostly available. Otherwise plenty of public parking spaces not so expensive.
The location was perfect for a short stay in Appledore. I was within walking distance of the shore and the shops. Although the building is unassuming, the apartment, itself, is attractive, well-laid out, and very well appointed with everything you need for a trouble-free stay. The building is very quiet. I had a restful and restorative weekend there.
Location good even though on more of an industrial site type of location, lovely views from balcony's over the sea, great place to base yourself from to explore the area, a little of a walk into Appledore but not a problem for the visit, all in all a nice place to stay for a weekend.
A lovely hotel having a very welcoming atmosphere. General decoration and lighting throughout the hotel, and adornment of tables - both internally and externally, was excellent at all times. The hotel, our bedroom and ensuite was a very comfortable temperature.
Wonderful comfortable accommodation, it couldn’t have been better, absolutely everything we needed and more. Ideally situated in a quiet area of Appledore. The games room and undercover lockable parking was a big bonus.
The apartment was spacious, comfortable and well equipped. The location up a hill, within walking distance of Appledore centre was perfect and the view from the windows facing the estuary was amazing!
The Seagate is so lovely. The staff are amazingly helpful and friendly. Such a dog friendly hotel and they even left our dog a bed and some treats in the room.
Wonderful stay, beautiful hotel and the staff were very kind, attentive and helpful. Lady who served us breakfast was very friendly. Highly recommended
