I was DISGUSTED to find out that my cousin, who drove 5 hours to drop us off at Takeley, was fined 100 pounds for "So Called Parking" at the hotel. He stayed long enough to stretch his legs and plan his trip back home. He was there a maximum of 5 to 10 minutes. This IS NOT how you treat guests who are dropped off. What was he supposed to do PARK IN THE STREET!!!! I Apart from things not working In our first room and we had to be changed, then we find out about this BS fine. There was no mention of parking fines on booking.com. I would NOT recommend this hotel and its money making scheme to anyone. You would NEVER be treated like this in Australia. We welcome tourists not fine their drivers. Extremely disappointed !!!! When someone goes out of their way to make sure we arrived safely and then are treated like this it makes me sick.

Very reasonable price for overnight stay and car parking.
Very reasonable price for overnight stay and car parking. Excellent location with a bus stop across the road, for the short trip to the airport. Worth noting if you have a late return flight the last bus is 23.15 so be prepared to get a taxi back. Not our first stay so was aware of the Four Ashes pub across the road that served good food. Unfortunatley we didn't realise they close on Sunday evening so need to arrive before 6 pm if you want food in there. Fortunately there was a list to other food options in the room and a short drive away there is a Tesco Express and an Italian takeaway. Caretaker very pleasant and checked out we had everything we needed for our overnight stay.

Avoid if you value your health and safety.
Avoid if you value your health and safety. This property is being mis sold. It doesn't even have fully functioning electric, no fridge, black mould, disgusting shower heads, filthy. Avoid had no electric to charge phone or for medical equipment. Place is a death trap. They have no idea about disability access, you can't even get in the rooms with a wheelchair never mind get into bed or use the shower and toilet

Nobody there to let us in, customer service rubbish kept...
Nobody there to let us in, customer service rubbish kept saying someone would be here in 5 minutes and waited an hour. Temperature had dropped, freezing cold. Being disabled made it worse. Phone numbers nonexistent. Taxi on site says £12.50 it cost us £25 each way and still waiting on refund. Number given was for another hotel out of the area, customer service said they contacted hotel and we would get an answer in 24 hours. They also said sorry for your trouble and when you find another hotel they will try and refund the difference. We were out of pocket in the middle of nowhere how the he'll was we supposed to do that. Absolutely diabolical, steer well clear, we think they overbooked as they said door should be open with keys in. We tried all rooms and guess what they were all locked. Had to sleep on airport floor for over 3 hours waiting for the first train, we were treated discustingly
We really enjoyed our stay, albeit short, in a studio next to the hotel. The rooms are clean, cosy, comfortable and well equipped and we had everything we needed to rest after our journey. The hotel is situated in a quiet yet gorgeous rural landscape. The owner is a very kind and friendly person who saved us in the middle of a night upon our arrival in the UK by providing a private car transport from the airport where were facing a grim prospect of waiting for a commercial taxi for at least 2 hours. Can highly recommend this place.
We loved our stay at this cosy and friendly hotel and it was perfectly located near Stansted Airport. Julie and Doug are both so kind and the attention to detail in the rooms and the breakfast display was exceptional. We were especially appreciative of how flexible they both were in allowing us to check in later than we had initially expected. We would definitely stay again!
I booked a single room and it felt like a prison cell. The bed was uncomfortable and the room was dirty. There were no towels on arrival and I had to ask the man on reception who didn't seem very helpful. The only good thing about the room was that the radiator worked and there was hot water. I would not recommend anyone stay at this hotel the worst place I have ever stayed.
Great place! Will definitely stay again next time we are flying from Stansted. Taxi is very expensive (£27) for the 2 miles drive but I believe £7 of that fee is for dropping off at Stansted. We used the parking at The White House whilst we are away, and was very reasonably priced.
We stayed in Aqua room. Comfy, clean and everything we needed. Definitely recommend 👌
first thing first it was really cheap! £50, a split that with my friend so worked out as £25
I really like how the hotel was just right opposite the bus stop to take the bus directly to Stansted Airport. the bus runs about every 15 minutes and takes no more than 6 minutes to get there. it was easy to get to the hotel
The room was cold dirty and black mould all around the window the radiator in the bathroom didn’t work and was leaking and the tap constantly leaking to bad to stay in so had to book another hotel and when tried to contact anyone nobody answered the phone or messages or emails avoid at all costs
The quirkiness of this hotel and the trouble and value it put into making this people welcome and at home. I would totally recommend this hotel for people having to stay in Stansted as a stop over for an early morning flight the next day
An independent hotel; small, but clean and friendly staff (only one!). Very convenient for Stansted Airport; only a five minute bus ride away, with the bus stop right outside the hotel, so much cheaper to get to than a taxi or Uber.
last minute booking as snow was forecast before an early flight from stansted, owner came straight out to greet us and help organise a taxi for 4am, very happy with the price and facilities compared to airport hotels.
An excellent quality place to stay, self contained and well equipped, convenient for Stansted airport. Great value too, there were 3 of us and it works out much cheaper than the airport hotels.
Beautiful property, in a lovely countryside area with delicious pub nearby, kindly proprietor, perfect for our first night in England, close to Stansted Airport.
