    A lovely little town.

A lovely little town. Obviously you will most likely be going for the bookshops. There are also other interesting shops, and on one of the days we visited - Thursday - a market. Lovely countryside around too

Beautiful town. A must for all book lovers. Plenty of good quality eateries, providing a range of eating options. Local people are very friendly. We have visited three times in recent years and fully intend to visit again. We would never tire of this place.

Hay is great , there is always something to do here.

Hay is great , there is always something to do here. Some lovely antique shops and vintage bizarres. Great coffee shops and restaurants. The Castle has been restored and is a beautiful gift to behold. We love walking along the river to The Warren and having a dip in the cold water. A little gem of a place.

Hay is a beautiful village with many historic buildings and interesting shops. There are many options for outdoor recreation in the area. One thing to note is that most shops close at 5 PM. My favorite meal was dinner at The Old Black Lion. Every meal I had in Hay was excellent. Please note if you are using the bus to get from the train station at Hereford to check the bus schedule yourself since Google Maps pulled from the wrong table. There is a lovely walking path along the River Wye with amazing views of the river.

    A wonderful place to visit!

A wonderful place to visit! Quirky shops, vast array of book & antique shops and a lovely market. Coffee shops we’ve visited have all been excellent. My husband and I regularly visit for a night or two. We dine at the Blue Boar and occasionally the Indian restaurant- both superb! Lovely walks, and a ambience of calmness & fresh air entices us back all seasons. My daughter and I have also camped nearby- that’s was fabulous too!

    pretentious!

pretentious! Only one overpriced pub which did food I liked.. the food cost telephone numbers A lot of visitors looked they had just come out of a 1960's folk festival Er, since the advent of Amazon do we really need bookshops?

A wonderful apartment in Hay! From the meeting with the owner for the handover and tour of the apartment to our experience of living in a great apartment in this beautiful and eclectic town, our experience was really special. It was exactly what we needed and felt very comfortable, even having friends over for wine and cheese in the spacious living area. It was a perfect home-away-from home. Looking forward to returning in the future. Will definitely stay here again.

Everyone was friendly and helpful. The steps from the pub to the rooms are very steep and I was helped with my suitcase to my room. Hotel was very quiet at night for this weary traveler. Parking was so convenient. My salmon dinner was delicious. My compliments to the chef. Breakfast in the morning (included in booking) was also delicious. I am so glad I got to stay and visit Hay-on- Wye before the festival.

We had an excellent stay. The cellar apartment was spacious and comfortable - a relaxing place to unwind. We were made to feel very welcome. The car park was only a short stroll away, and a very pleasant one by the river. A few minutes further along the path is the Warren, a wide open space in rolling countryside. Hay is a lovely place and we would love to return - and, of course, stay at The Bridge Hay.

Irene and Barry were extremely welcoming and we were greated with some freshly made muffins and all we needed to make ourselves a lovely breakfast in the morning. The hut is suprisingly spacious and has all the modern comforts. It is just a short drive down to Hay-on-Wye and about 40 minutes from Hereford. We came for a weekend but would have happily stayed for a week. Highly recommended.

Loved the spacious rooms - excellent shower in the en suite. Proper prints and paintings on the wall - none of this corporate art. Luscious silk brocade curtains. Really comfortable. Great food. Sparkling clean. Parking. Nice staff and owner. Bang in the middle of Hay. All in all: perfect.

The location is beautiful, with stunning views, the accommodation is superb and the hosts could not have been kinder or more accommodating. The breakfasts were outstanding and small luxuries (baskets of fruit, home made cakes) made our stay really special - all 7 days :-)
