What a charming place. The bedroom was lovely and well decorated, but the drawing room especially merits a mention. It was magnificent, but don't touch the booze - it's for show only! Iain was warm and welcoming and made our brief stay in Tavistock all the more memorable. We even managed to park directly outside, which was a bonus. All in all, fabulous.

Service was top notch from the off. I was greeted at the door following parking. Breakfast was easy to book. Recommendations were given for food and I was extremely grateful for this as the pub I visited was incredible. Rooms are spotless and breakfast set me up for the day. Don't be put off by not having a cooked breakfast. Fruit and coffee was exceptional. Everything was spot on. Very quiet and Brad was very sociable when it mattered. The room and hotel itself is spotless and maintained to a very high standard. I was worried about parking but there was plenty of spaces. Didn't need car charging but it was offered to me and available.

Everything bar the owner, Jeremy. SO Bloody Rude and overstepped my personal boundaries by touching me on my arm without my permission to do so! INNAPPROPRIATE to say the least. He also withheld my refund as requested by my goodself because of the term and conditions laid out in the contract between himself, booking.com and myself. I paid £220 for one night stay at The Horn of Plenty near Tavistock. It is Amazing, however the owner, Jeremy leaves a lot less to be desired. Maybe, dear old Jeremy has to take early retirement and hand the keys to somebody more fitting
to such an establishment, maybe the under manager or the Head Chef. Respect to both of them. Hope to meet you one day. It would be an honor for us all to partake at the HoP!

Attractive old quirky home, beautifully renovated. High vaulted ceilings on first floor, cosy lounge with wood burner but with open plan layout to be a great social space.

The church lane cafe is amazing good food and excellent service. The market doesn’t appear as busy on my recent visits.

An ideal size - could all be done on foot but with enough dining and drinking choices. Handsome architecture of local stone and granite. We recommend the Pannier Market (historic, with interesting stalls including unusually good second-hand books, and all under cover). The church, formerly adjacent to a monastery (of which a few traces remain) has a stained glass window by William Morris and Burne-Jones.

I live close to the center of Tavistock and was on a trip while I sorted things at home. Sometimes it is good to detach from the absolute familiar. Tavistock is a quiet, dreamy place in the main but has some night life centering around restaurants and take aways . The remaining public houses generally provide a warm welcome with a range of facilities across the board. Shopping: a good range of supermarkets, independent stores and franchises. Leisure pursuits are various in and around the town. It remains a satellite to The City of Plymouth however, with an other worldly quality. Not a suburb. Any recommendations would be biased.

Good Market town with lots of little shops but like most town starting to show signs of a down turn, has some free no street parking which is good but the council are planning to install parking meters which will kill the high street.

Tavistock is a mysterious Dartmoor Market town, with people from all walks of life making the most of its rural and ancient history. There are many places to eat and drink, quirky and interesting. The indoor market was voted the best in its class several years ago. I beleive it's even better now, with modern accessible toilets. There is a really good Weatherspoons large and quirky in places where you can relax for hours with very affordabel ales.......................Or coffee, freee refills. Besides other eateries including the historic Church which serves coffee and cake on certain days. The Church has become a main hub for visitors encouraging a friendly community spirit for all those who value trust, honesty and friendship. Some of the locals tell a very good tale or two!!
Superb location right next to the fast-flowing River Tavy where apparently you can see both otters and kingfisher. Slight drawback with location is fairly busy road outside which means driving onto and reversing from parking spaces can be tricky. The landlord Paul and his wife Carla were very friendly, knowledgeable and helpful.
Breakfast in the conservatory was superb; all products locally sourced, eggs done to perfection on soft white bread and fabulous coffee. Would make a return visit.
Beautiful hotel with a cosy, warm feel to it. Extremely friendly and welcoming owners. We were attending a wedding and I had rang ahead to explain we would be arriving earlier. We were pleasantly surprised to find our room ready for us when we arrived 3 hours early than check in time which eased a lot of stress for us. The room was clean, beautiful and very comfortable. Excellent location in the centre of Tavistock. We would happily stay again!
Surprisingly spacious, but still felt cosy. Underfloor heating was wonderful. Sitting in frint of the log burner was so relaxing.
Everything tou needed and more .
The surrounding area and views were outstanding. So quiet and peaceful.
Perfect place to stay to explore Devon and Cornwall
I honestly couldn't recommend this beautiful place to stay enough.
Thank you
This characterful property is located within a few minutes walk of all Tavistock has to offer. It was spotlessly clean and comfortable with fantastic facilities for our group of three female friends enjoying a short break. Excellent communication with the host before, during and at the end of our stay. Highly recommended for a stay in delightful Tavistock.
I had the most wonderful stay and Eddy was an amazing host.
The place exceeded all my expectations and the facilities as well as being a central location in the town was comfortable and very quiet and relaxing.
If you are visiting Tavistock and the surrounding area (including Plymouth) then this is the place to stay.
The property is in a very remote location but that’s what makes it so nice. The Annex is well set out and has lovely decor.Viv and Howard are wonderful hosts and very knowledgeable of the area if you need any help. It’s a 10 minute drive in to Tavistock if you want to go into town. I would definitely stay there again.
The cottage is close to Tavistock and we walked into town on several occasions, which was very convenient. The lounge is comfortable although the TV is very small for the size of the room. The kitchen is well equipped although we did not do a lot of cooking as we have family in the area. The bed was comfortable.
spacious couple of rooms under the hosts house - communication before arrival was good as we had to change our arrival time, good amount and variety of food left in fridge for our three breakfasts, the host was very helpful with local information, also had access to a nice patio area
Quality of hotel and accommodation were very high. Jan and Mark are very attentive hosts and made our stay enjoyable. The hotel is situated in a convenient area of the town and it's location made it very easy to visit both north and south Devon as well as Dartmoor.
Claire is really lovely and showed us everything in the apartment. It's spotless and decorated to a very high standard. Extremely convenient for shops and bars too. We can't wait to return we've booked already Tavistock is lovely very friendly people too.
Overnight stop on cycling trip across Devon with my adult children. Fantastic welcome, made to feel really at home, comfortable room, twin room has a top rate bathroom just 2 steps across the hall, right in the centre of Tavistock, good value for money!
Excellent spot for exploring Tavistock and the surrounding areas. Breakfast was exceptional and the staff were all brilliant. We would definitely recommend for a short stay and make Sure you book in for dinner during your stay!
Apple Tree House is a beautiful building full of character. Our room was very comfortable and we had a lovely view overlooking the tennis club and park. Private car park at the rear of the property was excellent.
The location is great, just north of Tavistock where there is an abundance of shops, superstores, bakeries and Nike Nak shops. The area around the lodge is stunningly beautiful.
Reception staff absolutely fantastic - they couldn't do more for you. Location fantastic too and good quality breakfast. Hotel parking facilities also good.
