FAQs about hotels in Derby
On average, 3-star hotels in Derby cost £76 per night, and 4-star hotels in Derby are £92 per night. If you're looking for something really special, a 5-star hotel in Derby can on average be found for £276 per night (based on Booking.com prices).
Bordering the Peak District, pioneering Derby was the site of the first factory during the Industrial Revolution. The city was a silk producer and a former mill forms part of the UNESCO World Heritage-listed Derwent Valley Mills, lining the Derwent River between Derby and Matlock.
Also by the river is Darley Park which hosts an annual chamber orchestra concert. The city centre arboretum was England’s first public park, and Markeaton Park in the north-west has a light railway. Nearby is the university campus and 18th-century Kedleston Hall, a Palladian-style mansion involved in filming of ‘The Duchess’.
Another royal connection is Bonnie Prince Charlie who stayed at Exeter House. A replica of his room is in Derby Museum and Art Gallery, and there is a statue of him in Cathedral Square. Opposite is the oldest pub, the Dolphin Inn, but the best nightlife is around Friar Gate.
The nearby Cathedral Quarter is full of eateries and shops, and the Westfield Centre houses big name brands. The Grade II-listed Market Hall offers a range of stalls above underground tunnels which are supposedly haunted by one of Derby’s many ghosts.
Derby County FC play at Pride Park, near the train station and several hotels with parking. Booking.com also offers cheap apartments and guest houses near East Midlands Airport.

The art gallery was interesting, especially the surrealist paintings. I highly recommend the Kedleston Hall! The staffs there were really helpful and informative, and the elegant interior design is especial. The Pickford’s House is interesting too, because there’re many grand upper-class mansions open to tourists but not homey middle-class houses like this. Everyone I met in this town was friendly, like we’d been friends for years.

Derby is a fantastic city for an weekend stay.
Plenty of bars and restaurants. Perfect for shopping too.
Very lively on a Saturday night.
Personally I would recommend more Christmas activities. What was there was nicely done though.

We loved the cathedral and old quarter, we loved the Book Café which we visited three times in three days!
We loved all the little shops and cafes near the Cathedral up Saddlers street? Also noticed live music and beautiful places to go at night but we didn’t go into these this time.

Our trip was for football and also to visit some of the local pubs around derbyshire and most of them were very good indeed.
We would recommend buying Derbyshire Wayfarer tickets --adults £15.50 per day and seniors £7.70 but seniors must show proof of age.
They are available from bus drivers or travel centre at Derby bus station
This is the third time i stay at this hotel. it is just off the Derby Train Station and near to the conference venue. It is very convenient for traveller.
The reception and bar areas seem renovated since my last stay at the same time last year. On the whole the hotel is clean and nicely kept.
The room is spacious and in a quiet location as i have requested, but this room is not wheelchair accessible.
We ate at a nearby restaurant in the evening. The food is good.
Would highly recommend this family run guest house. We were upgraded to the luxury room which was so quiet and comfortable. Never had such a good night's sleep before in a hotel. Sharon made us feel so welcome. The whole place was spotlessly clean. Breakfast was just right. Beautiful garden out the back if you wanted a quiet space to sit. Would recommend to anyone visiting children at uni or if you are just looking for a quiet getaway in the Derbyshire Dales/Nottingham area.
The reception was good, but confusing as we arrived just before a wedding party which was using the same entrance. The hotel setting spectacular. Though short staffed the serving crew were working hard. We went for an anniversary party-- food fine- desserts best bit. Breakfast excellent.
The staff were really helpful in answering questions for example if there were buses travelling to the Derby Arena. The rooms and beds were excellent, as was the breakfast. I will be looking for an overnight stay in Yorkshire soon so will certainly be looking at IHG hotels again
Good location 5 mins train station and 10 mins to city centre .I was given a free upgrade on arrival which meant shower over the bath .I did not have any meals in the hotel during my stay. It has a good free carpark with a barrier .I would stay again if going to derby .
Great communication with the owner from beginning to end. This property is perfectly situated for good access to many areas of Derby. House was clean, comfortable & welcoming. Will definitely try & stay here again when we visit our family in the future.
Location was good from hotel to Derby & Burton-upon-Trent.
Price was good for the amount of time spent.
Reception staff were friendly and professional.
