Loved the view of the water from our room. Loved that we had a hidden opening to a second small room behind the bookcase. Loved the breakfast. Located a short walk from Commercial Street and the Harbor of Lerwick and as we were fortunate to have good weather (except for wind), enjoyed the walk.

The accommodation was close to the town and great facilities to make your our food preparations. Friendly owner servicing the apartment, nice to have a bathroom for each room. Good to see re-cycling promoted within the complex.

The manager that took care of our stay arranged a different room for us than the one we had reserved, because we are somewhat elderly and not really able to handle stairs. He prepared a room especially for us that we could access with the lift. He went above and beyond to help us! Helped us with laundry facilities etc. Great guy!

I was in Lerwick during a stretch of unpleasant weather - cold and rainy with strong winds sometimes gusting at gale force. I would not recommend October or probably not winter. I will return, but next time in May or June! The city and surrounding towns are worth the visit. Next time I make the journey I will go to Kirkwall, too,

This is where you need to base if you want to explore the Shetland Islands. We found a great tour guide who took us all the way to the northern end of Unst and with his 40+ year history on the island was a wealth of information. Message me if you want his contact info.
We also did one of the wildlife boat tours which was great!

We very much enjoyed seabird watching tour departing from the small boat ferry port in Lerwick, which is really recommended! We brought a car rented at Aberdeen to Orkney/Shetland by ferries and it was nicely worked. Taking your own car is recommend as the great bird watching and archaeological sites are far away from Lerwick. Unfortunately the puffin season was over when we were in the Orkney/Shetland. I would like to visit again to see puffins!

Lerwick, well known to many people because of the TV series 'Shetland', is a charming town with many interesting features. Most importantly, the people are very friendly and welcoming to visitors, a good thing as during the summer months it is a regular stop off for cruise ships.
The town centre is tucked just behind the sea front and contains interesting local shops, cafes and restaurants. Our favourite was 'The Dowry', which has great food and excellent coffee. Visit Fort Charlotte, take a walk around the Nab for breathtaking views, catch a ferry across the sound to the island of Bressay, peruse the outstanding (and free) Shetland Museum or walk out of town to explore the ancient Broch of Clickimin. Of course, there is also a tour of the locations used to film 'Shetland'.

Lerwick is a great base for shorter excursions around the islands. We could have stayed longer for more hiking and half/full day visits. Shetland has a lot to offer. The nature is outstanding and people are very friendly.
We really enjoyed our tour with Lara Thomason who guided us around south Shetland and took us the the north west cliffs of Shetland. Very knowledgeable and pleasant to hang with. Next time it will be for hiking!

A lovely place with plenty to do.
A lovely place with plenty to do. Those of you who want to relax can enjoy the amazing scenery and wildlife from many locations around Lerwick and even when having a coffee or eating dinner at some of the locations.
nothing it’s a complete dump - arrived reception boarded up no staff - eventually another disgruntled guest gave me a mobile. number to get a member of staff over - eventually arrived - my room had been taken - showed me another and went to get towels and a room key and never returned - terrible and unbelievable price - this is not a hotel and should not be advertised as such it’s a rip off diss house for contract workers - who all hate the place - it’s a bad joke - shameful - I’m expecting a full refund but good luck with that
The real treat of Maryfield House hotel is James and Nelly's willingness to arrange special food off the normal menu. When I arrived I asked if there was any fresh lobster and Nelly had cooked some that afternoon. It was delicious. The next morning I asked for Mussels and James was sent to get some. Again delicious.
A special place to stay, made more enjoyable by the six minute ferry ride from Lerwick. There is a long term car park five minutes walk from the ferry in Lerwick
The Grand Hotel is just that, a grand old hotel in the centre of Lerwick, currently undergoing an extensive renovation to restore it back to it's former glory, no works were going on at odd times of day and it was nice and peaceful come night time. Harvey couldn't have been more welcoming or helpful. Nothing was too much trouble at all. It was the perfect base for time back in Shetland, I'll definitely be back to keep up to date with the renovations the next time I'm home.
The hostel has the perfect location, right in the middle of Lerwick, less than 10 minutes walk to the pier and into town. The biggest supermarket is also only 15 minutes walk away.
The staff was very helpful and friendly! We couldn't have gotten it any better. The shared kitchen was clean and enjoyed by all. We had the room all to ourselves for the two of us, lovely. I would stay there again in a heartbeat if I came to Lerwick again :-)
This hostel was excellent, great value for money, very clean, all required facilities. Above all the manager was so friendly and helpful - what a difference that makes to a stay. Would highly recommend to families looking for reasonably priced, spacious and clean accomodation in Lerwick. We have a three year old and she loved it, excellent park and swimming pool nearby.
The location is fantastic!! We could walk to everything in Lerwick. The staff at the hotel is kind, fun, friendly, helpful. The shower/tub was clean and comfortable and easy to use. Great light. The mattress was super comfortable and I slept really well. I would absolutely stay here again. The breakfast was astounding!!!!!
The room is immaculately clean. Love the small personalised touches e.g. chocolate mints, tea, coffee and chocolate milk tray (kettle). We were able to use their kitchen. The host doesn't live in the same place so it is like a hotel. REally warm friendly hosts. The breakfast is yummy. The location is amazing! Will visit again!
Excellent location near downtown Lerwick. Parking is very easy. We were in the Superior Suite, and the bedroom and bathroom were comfortably large and well laid-out. The double sink is a nice touch. I enjoyed the continental breakfast options provided. The accommodations exceeded my expectations!
The apartment was warm, clean and well equipped. It was also pretty central in Lerwick so we walked to most places we wanted to go to. There was supplies left in the kitchen which was nice too. We would rent again if available.
Great view from room over the harbour. New managers recently taken over and are renovating the hotel so lots of areas freshly painted etc. Still in need of a little TLC but a great place to stay in the heart of Lerwick.
