Capital of Wales, Cardiff is a wonderfully green city steeped in national pride. At its heart is enormous Bute Park, divided by the River Taff and named after the marquis that once lived in Cardiff Castle overlooking it. In fact, this is just one of 5 castles within the surrounding area.
Over the road is Cathays Park, a beautiful square flanked by Edwardian architectural masterpieces including Cardiff City Hall and the excellent National Museum of Wales. Another must-see is St Fagan’s National History Museum, one of Britain’s top attractions.
From Victorian arcades to the fabulous St David’s Centre, shopping in Cardiff is a delight. And there’s no shortage of pubs and restaurants in which to rest awhile. Those by Cardiff Bay offer particularly pleasant views.
Also by the bay are the futuristic National Assembly for Wales and the Wales Millennium Centre. Another year 2000 landmark is the Millennium Stadium, a state-of-the-art venue for international rugby and football matches, as well as concerts. Next door is Cardiff Arms Park, home to the city’s rugby union team, while Cardiff City FC’s new stadium is in the west.
Cardiff Airport is further west near Barry and Booking.com have an excellent range of hotels, B&Bs and apartments both near there and in the city centre.
Loved the shops bars and resurants. The bay is lovely.sad with beggers and people sleeping rough so sad.but a few got bit out of hand.think police should patrol in evening as was quite scary for children and elderly people.

I'm biased because I'm Welsh and was born and brought up near & in Cardiff! It's a great city, with everything a tourist could want in the way of culture, sightseeing, history, attractions, amenities, shopping etc. Above all the people are generally really welcoming and friendly. There are so many interesting and diverse places to eat and drink in the center of the city, within easy walking distance but there are also many great places to visit within 30-60 minutes of Cardiff, on public transport.

Cardiff is a great city.
Cardiff is a great city. The compact layout makes it easy to explore. City centre is pedestrianised in parts which makes it a better experience. The indoor market is a wonder for foodies. Lots of good chains in general but also some great ones further out on City road. (Shaam Nights) Great to be able to get to the sea so quickly.

Always an absolute pleasure to spend a few days in Cardiff.
Always an absolute pleasure to spend a few days in Cardiff.
A sophisticated capital city with zesty character, big enough to be interesting, intimate enough to get your arms around.
The historic Victorian/Edwardian covered shopping arcades are a real pleasure e.g. Brogue Trader for fine gentleman's shoes where the Service itself was worth it as highly educational theatre. The authentic old-style pubs, like The Albany in Roath were a friendly treat. Similarly the Art Galleries like the Albany Gallery are ever-changing delights.
The Rugby was a magnificent occasion as ever. Casanova Restaurant is a hidden gem, and the food & Italian wines are magnificent.
Take a boat trip from the Castle Ground down to The Bay...a treat.

Cardiff is a fantastic place to visit with plenty of bars, cafes and restaurants. Some with live entertainment.
Also theatres and so many shops, you’ll be spoilt for choice!
We ate in Ty Madeira (St Mary Street) the food was excellent we had the two course lunch menu. We also visited the Live Lounge (The Friory) and saw many live singing acts, all very good.
Perfect location in Cardiff City Centre.
For a fairly basic hotel, the facilities were great with cheap breakfast, the room was comfortable and clean.
The staff were incredible! They knew who we were when we arrived and made check in super easy and quick.
The bar staff were also great, very chatty and were open pretty much all night if you fancied a nap cap, no trouble what so ever.
staff were excellent, especially Mohammed on the front desk . Stayed for our anniversary and had a card in our room on arrival and a complimentary drink each. The room was very spacious and clean with a good view. Breakfast was lovely and we were well catered for as my wife is vegan. Close walking distance from Cardiff bay and all its attractions. Will definitely visit again.
The location was perfect for me and my family, the property is very close to the Bay and also City centre. As you can imagine having 2 toddlers and a 7 year space is needed when staying away so this was perfect for us. The host was really helpful and messaged us a list of things we can do with the kids around Cardiff some for free. Clean property and will 100% return again.
Check in was smooth and I was so impressed with the room! The bathroom felt like luxury. The area the Hotel is in feels quite secluded, and very quiet - it doesn’t feel like you are in Cardiff Bay at all but you can easily walk into the city centre or down to the docks in no time.
Breakfast was great and staff were helpful regarding allergen info also.
The hotel is well located, being about 20 minutes walk to the city centre and 12 minutes to the Cardiff Bay area. Staff were friendly and helpful. The bedroom was warm and light with a view over the water and the double bed was very comfortable and impressively wide. Breakfast was good with some cooked options.
Very friendly helpful staff. The room decor maybe a little dated but it was very clean and comfortable. We were booked into the spa at The Mercure just down the road and we were able to leave our car in The Tanes Hotel car park and walk to The Mercure, also not much further to walk to city centre.
Everything was just perfect as they literally thought about everything you need , not only the cutlery but milk in the fridge, sugar teabags etc etc. good value of the money nice location just opposite cardiff bay parking space aswell. You can’t find something like this with this much money 👍
A lovely spacious, well equipped apartment located in Cardiff Bay near to the city centre. There were lots of places nearby to eat and drink and the city centre was just a short walk away. The beds were really comfortable and we slept really well. We would highly recommend this place to stay!
This is an absolutely fantastic boutique hotel and one of the best we have ever stayed in. The attention was superb and the food was excellent. The staff were attentive and extrmely helpful. We will defnitely stay again when we visit Cardiff. A little gem in the heart of the city!
The location was ideal. It is a luxury hotel blocks from cit centre, but not in city centre. You get the convenience without the disturbance. It is very close to the stadium and I imagine it would be loud on game days. The property and staff are a 10.
The location is good, close to the center and Cardiff bay. Hotel has a big parking. I heard nothing from outside and it's wonderful. Staff was kind and when i didn't understand something they repeated and explained more. Thank you!
This is a budget hotel so there are no frills (no kettle, no hairdryer etc) but it was clean and in easy walking distance of both Cardiff City Centre and Cardiff Bay. Breakfast was available and the staff were friendly.
Close to Cardiff city centre. nice and warm. comfortable room. free tea and coffee in reception.
car park right outside the front door. £7 per 24 hours. I could see my car from the bedroom window.
Very convenient for City Centre and Cardiff Bay. Ideal size for 3 of us with everything provided. Allocated parking, a big advantage. Very enjoyable stay.
