The Grand Hotel, hotel in Scalloway

Located in Lerwick, in a building dating from 19th century, 300 metres from Bain's Beach, The Grand Hotel provides guestrooms with free WiFi. The hotel features family rooms.

I was pleasantly surprised with the flexibility from the Owner/Manager "Harvey" who more than adequately catered for my needs during my stay. I was very impressed with his "hands on" approach. Mickey and Janet were definitely the "dynamic duo - Batman and Robin" at breakfast time providing a warm and friendly service, always a smile and a 1st class breakfast on offer, for sure more than I needed, but i did over indulge, why not! Overall 95% satisfaction. Not every bodies cup of tea I can only guess, but I will return for sure.

Norlande, hotel in Scalloway

Featuring a garden and views of garden, Norlande is a guest house situated in a historic building in Lerwick, 500 metres from Bain's Beach.

This is a really beautiful property. So much thought has gone into how to make it a home-from-home - everything from little scent baskets in the hallways to keep the property smelling nice to a beautifully prepared breakfast hamper in the room. You could tell that the place was truly cared for, and that real thought and care had gone into making every room as perfect as possible.

Lovely little town. Shetland in general was great!

Lovely little town. Shetland in general was great! We enjoyed exploring, swimming (v cold!) and visiting local arts and craft shops/ galleries. Food was amazing particularly no88 in Lerwick, worth booking for dinner. Hamnavoe is very pretty and a trip to Bressay for a meal at the Maryfield hotel was fun. St Ninians isle was stunning! Puffins and cake at Sumburgh head a must as was Jarlshof just down the road which I thought was more impressive than Scara Brae on Orkney.

Scalloway is a lovely, small, friendly place.

Scalloway is a lovely, small, friendly place. Scalloway Hotel was brilliant for locally sourced foods - fabulous. Easy parking, good quality roads though hilly (of course!). We were there for photography and were not disappointed anywhere on the island that we travelled. Shetland is very helpful towards tourists. It was a long journey to get there, and I would definitely recommend a cabin on the ferry across to Lerwick from Aberdeen. We will definitely travel there again - and use the same base: Easterhoull Chalets in Scalloway.
