If you're planning on driving here with a rental car please be aware that it is extremely busy and the roads are incredibly narrow. My experienced driver was uncomfortable with parallel parking next to a precipitous drop The view that you often see in photos from the lookout near the village is beautiful but what you don't see are the lines of other people waiting to get the same shot. In short, it's incredibly touristy which does take away from the quaint ambiance I was looking for. We also visited Fontaine de Vancleur and found that village to be more manageable in terms of crowds, parking, and driving.

Gordes is a magical town, it's all walkable and you'll have plenty of choice for restaurants, be careful not to set out for dinner too late though as places seem to close quite early.
We had a fantastic meal at La Trinquette which I highly recommend. There's also a lively outdoor bar/restaurant opposite with a view!
If you're staying in the area and have access to a car, make sure you check out Abbaye Notre-Dame de Sénanque for it's beautiful exterior lined with Lavender (no need to get sucked in to the hour tour), also be sure to visit Le Sentier des Ocres, Roussillon is a stunning town and the orange Quarry is definitely something not to miss!
Parking can be quite tricky in the very heart but it's a small town and two mins up the road is a massive car park.

Gordes is a beautiful medieval village with lovely shops and restaurants and stunning views. It has a wonderful market every Tuesday morning. However it can get hectically busy during the day as it is phenomenally popular with tourists. It’s best to visit it early, around 10 am, and even at 9am on market day. Limited parking if one is not staying within walking distance nearby

Gordes is a beautiful town with amazing views, some nice shops, several good restaurants, lovely village market on Tuesday mornings.
Stayed on the hill leading up to Gordes, about a 10 minute walk from the city. Perfect location - got some exercise walking up every day, but had enjoyed the space and quiet of being outside the village
Ate at several restaurants in Gordes. Most enjoyed our meals at L'Outsider and Le Garden.
We visited early June. The village had lot's of tourists but wasn't too busy overall. Expect it would be much more crowded in July and August

Gordes has quite a lot of history which is very informative and interesting.. However in the actual village itself there is not a lot to offer. La ville sous la ville is very interesting.
The surrounding villages of Gordes are perhaps more interesting with markets and local cuisine. Lourmarin is definitely worth a visit.

We stayed in Gordes for three nights.
We stayed in Gordes for three nights. Three full days would have been fine but we lost a day going back to Aix en Provence for a private cooking class.
The Luberon area is absolutely beautiful and we enjoyed visiting many villages. Would highly recommend. Must have rental car.
The property was exactly as advertised and having breakfast looking out at the view each day (we stayed for a week) was really special. You can see all across the valley to the Luberon and even the ancient town of Menerbes.
It was a really comfortable appartment to be in, with plenty of space for the two of us and a well equipped kitchen and ample fridge. The venue was quiet which was great considering its only a 8mins walk to the centre of Gordes and there is secure parking behind a locked gate.
This was an exceptional experience, not only is the hotel beautiful in every regard, Regis and David were incredible in how they cared for us. They literally helped us plan each day out including where to visit and dine. Their recommendations were perfect to a tee. It made our stay on Provence one of the most memorable vacations we have ever had.
Thank you so much!
La Bastide offers absolute perfection. After several visits for lunches and dinners in the last years our expectations regarding a short stay there on our way down to the coast were high, but have definitely been exceeded by the level of excellence this hotel offers in every regard. We look forward to returning and exploring the other hotels of the Airelles group.
This is a very special property a short walk from the center of Gordes. The pool area was particularly nice, overlooking the hills of the Luberon. Also hiking distance from the Abbaye de Senanque. The property has been remodeled impeccably without losing the charm of the local architectural style. Memorable spot. Good breakfast and nice "honestly bar"
Beautiful hotel with gorgeous property and swimming pool. Wonderful breakfast. The only negative was the size of the room, which was super tiny, and we are not big people at all. :) also the location was a bit too far to enjoy the town. You would really need a car to get to the center. It’s a 30-35 min walk along the dirt road.
Amazing location, with beautiful grounds and a short walk up the hill to Gordes. Natalie and Michel were so friendly and great hosts, helping us with recommendations in the area. Breakfast by the pool each morning was perfect and the room was so spacious and comfortable, with everything thought of.
the house was exceptionally well maintained and clean as a whistle. The kitchen was very well stocked and had everything we needed. Fabulous location in easy walking distance to beautiful Gordes. The owner was easy to work with and very responsive.
Breakfast was thoughtful and beautifully presented. The location is rural and away from the touristy areas of Gordes but is beautiful and thoroughly charming. Was very nice to stay in La Badelle outside of the main village, felt very authentic.
Side room outside with private terrasse, great staff (very helpful and friendly, with a genuine smile), good views from the main terrasse and nice swimming pool. Walking distance into Gordes.
The friendliest staff, the amazing location, the easy access to Gordes, and the incredible gardens in bloom (June). Our children were the only kids I saw but were always treated very warmly.
Idyllic rural location which was peaceful and relaxing. Very easy drive to Gordes and other villages. The house was specular and the pool was Devine. The breakfast was excellent.
Perfect location for visiting Gordes. Easy walk to the town and the hotel grounds are beautifully maintained. Perfect photo spot of Gordes right across the street from the hotel.
Great upscale bed and breakfast place with heated pool and privacy. Close to Gordes and other great destinations. Quiet and away from traffic, for a great night's sleep
Absolutely amazing! Would definatelly come again!
Sandrine and Joel are fabulous in taking care of their guests!!! Gordes is the most beautifull village in Provence.
