The cathedral is not to be missed.
The cathedral is not to be missed. Even if you're not big on churches or old buildings you will be impressed by the truly amazing cleaning and restoration work that has been done over the last two years or so and is still going on. The immediate surroundings include many attractive old buildings and several cafés and restaurants.

Central Chartres is a mix of old and new with many historical buildings and of course the amazing cathedral. Lots of lovely local restaurants ranging from brasseries to Greek/Turkish family cooking and people are very friendly. Loved walking along the river to get different perspectives of the cathedral

Whilst the amazing Cathedral of Chartres must be its main draw, the city centre itself is well worth a visit, being a mass of mediaeval lanes and alleys fully of lovely old buildings as well as lots of shops and eateries. The river Eure also flows through the city and a walk along it is recommended.
One further piece of entertainment not to miss are the various light shows projected every night onto various walls, bridges and churches as well as the cathedral. Extraordinary does not do the show justice.
Overall a great place to visit for a weekend - 2 days (and nights) would probably be enough.

Lovely little town, very contained and walkable.
Lovely little town, very contained and walkable. There are many restaurants everywhere as it is a definite tourist town. 2 days is more than long enough to visit and see everything, it would also be fine for a day trip from Paris.

A terrific gem of a city.
A terrific gem of a city. Very walkable with many great cafes and bistros. Not the typical American tourist spot, but we felt welcomed. The Cathedral is so amazing and worthy of several hours to appreciate it. Tours are available and worth it. If your visit is in summer, the city night light show is very unique and artistic. Take the tiny train to see it all. Great home base location to visit nearby chateaus too. The local TI wasn't as helpful (although their building is very cool) as the Chartres visitors center across the street from the front of the Cathedral.
When we arrived we were made feel very welcome. The receptionist was so helpful, friendly and good humoured as was the porter. He parked our car and brought our luggage up to the room. They set a high standard for our visit and we weren’t let down. The spa was very relaxing after a long day walking. Breakfast was good as expected. The bar is very cosy with a good atmosphere, particularly when watching France play rugby and win in the world cup.
I have stayed at this Ace Hotel three times now and it is always a perfect place to rest my head when visiting the company I work with in Gallardon. A clean and well maintained hotel with parking behind a secure fence and gate system. The breakfast is simple but fresh and enjoyable. The rooms comfortable, warm and well designed for my needs with plug sockets and a TV. It has everything for an overnight business stay.
The receptionist went the extra mile to ensure we were able to charge our electric car. The hotel was chosen specifically for its charging point, crucial for our journey to the South of France. I would suggest however that in view of the trend towards many many more electric vehicles on the road, the hotel or its chain should consider increasing the number of charging points and ensuring they are of the rapid kind.
Arrived late evening on our way to the South of France. Hotel was well situated to see the sights of the city. Rooms were as expected, clean and comfy. Women who chatting with the man on reception was very helpful to direct us to the kebab shop which was one of the only places open when we realised the hotel had no room service. Great breakfast, with plenty of choice.
Hotel decor is lovely, with dark walls and a retro vibe.
The staff was friendly and helpful and the location is perfect for seeing the cathedral. I reserved a 2 room suite with pullout couch not expecting to use the pull-out. My cousin ended up using the pull-out bed and said it was very comfortable. That was a big plus!
Well located on the outskirts of Chartres for an overnight stop between locations. On edge of a retail park. Lots of choice of restaurants if don't want to use the on site one. Food good at restaurant. Having breakfast open from 6am was appreciated. Room was on opposite side to the roads, so quiet. Room basic but fine.
Really comfortable room. The breakfast was excellent. Good value too with hot food too and great quality Covered parking worrh the payment as secured. The staff were friendly and helpful. Will use again en route through France. Very clean and accepts our little dog . Highly recommend
Spacious bedroom and bathroom with excellent shower. Central but quiet location. Great breakfast. Every bit as good as last time we stayed here - Parc Stanislaus is still our top choice for Chartres and indeed for any stopover driving through France.
The bedroom was large, the bed was very comfortable and the shower clean with good pressure, and lots of places to put wash bags etc. The on-site restaurant was also nice, and the food good. It is ideal for a stopover when travelling through France.
This was the most expensive hotel i stayed at during this trip. The room was good quality and breakfast above average.
Location very good. A few minutes to the cathedral. Secure parking at 9 euro.
Directly in front of the train station.
The room was basic but very cute. Huge bed, big room. Poemes had another hotel attached that had a beautiful art deco bar which was very relaxing. Staff was very gracious and helpful especially Alexander.
Convenient location, very clean.Unfortunatel my husband left his navy toilet bag in the resturant. Is there a possibility if posting this to us in France?Would stay here again.Thankyou.
One of the best stays I have experienced in France. The location was next to the Cathedral! The room was spacious and facilities excellent. The host was so welcoming and helpful.
Excellent private parking near the centre of Chartres - within walking distance of the cathedral: Any equally central hotel would charge dearly for the privilege!
