Arcachon is a French resort on the Atlantic coast, about 55 km from the city of Bordeaux. Known for its oyster farms, Dune of Pyla, the long sandy beaches and the Victorian houses, this seaside city is a perfect holiday destination.
Set among the ocean and a pine forest, the breathtaking Great Dune of Pyla is the tallest sand dune in Europe. Reaching a height of about 107 metres and a length of 3 km, this natural miracle is a massive hill ideal for paragliding.
Popular for its oyster production, Arcachon was home to one of the first farms opened in 1849. Today about 60% of the oysters in France come from this region. Visit a waterside restaurant and savour delicious oyster dishes accompanied by a glass of fine French wine.
The Landes forest is the biggest maritime pine forest in Europe, filled with a wonderful natural park with cycle paths. Booking.com will help you find the right hotel, apartment or holiday home in the area of Arcachon.

The reception staff were very welcoming and helpful.
The reception staff were very welcoming and helpful. We had booked dinner in a nearby hotel for a dinner and the staff organised a taxi for us to travel there. Otherwise, everything you needed is in a pleasant walking distance. I can't wait to return to Arachon

Arcachon is a clean and welcoming place with plenty to do and lots of lovely places to eat. There are many options for boat trips in the Bassin d’ Arcachon, which are well worth doing. There is an excellent, cheap bus service to access places further than walking distance and the station has regular trains.

Arcachon is a lovely French seaside town.
Arcachon is a lovely French seaside town. Lovely mix of architecture, great food and great shopping. Lots to do, swimming, walking, cycling, and boating. Great cycle out to the Dune de Pyla and the view from the top is fantastic! Lovely boat ride to Cap Ferret and again a lovely cycle to the lighthouse. Arcachon ticks all the boxes for a couples/ family holiday. No late bars or clubs so not for the younger ones.

We were warned that Arcachon is very touristy and although there were many there (mid June), it didn‘t come across that way. Nice beach and promontory with lots of cafes and restaurants. Shopping streets including covered market were also worth visiting. Park above the downtown was beautiful. We took a train to Bordeaux for a day (50 min) which worked out very well. The nearby Pilate dunes are worth visiting. A boat outing to Cap Ferret is also recommended. We liked Le Pitt for good oysters a bit away from the beach and with fair prices.

This is a charming cozy little beach town, and there are a lot of nice shops and restaurants and cafes within walking distance. The pedestrian zone and sidewalks are very wheelchair accessible, as are many (but not all) of the shops and restaurants. Most of the shops and restaurants we visited were very welcoming and they made us feel like they were genuinely happy that we stopped in. The sea and boardwalk along the beach are extra bonuses. But bring a windproof jacket and a rain cape just in case!
One disappointment is the fact that the aquarium is closed and apparently has been for at least 2 years, and yet it is still on the tourist maps and websites. We really would have enjoyed the aquarium and we hope maybe it will be back again soon.
This was a very nice apartment rather than a traditional hotel. So you get a Whatsapp message from the owner with the digital door codes, a slightly more difficult payment method for city tax, but once that is over your in. Chosen as a Pet friendly place it has all the comforts for a cosy home, and has a deck feature to sunbathe, as we didnt choose the harbour view. The place is 15 minutes away from our main destination - The Dunes du Pilat. We did try the breakfast downstairs looking at the harbour which has a breakfast deal.
Good sized room with a comfortable Bed. Spacious bathroom and close to shops, market and beach. Staff friendly and helpful. Room came with a bathrobe and earplugs (which was considerat given rock band playing outside hotel) Was meant to have a balcony but was given room with terrace. Nice hanging chair but obstructed view as roof in front of terrace shielded beach could only see flagpols and horizon of sea. We didn't have breakfast so can't comment. Staff kindly stored luggage before 3pm check in and after 11am check out.
I am sorry to say, but i did not like anything but the location of the property.
It is totally outdated, dirty, not renovated for a very long time. Space is scarce. Our room was handed to us without being vacuumed - full of hairs and sand. Just awful. Personal not particularly helpful. It seems it is just exploited without any reinvestment. It is understaffed. Reception was available only like after 11 am- 12 pm. I am sorry, but i would not recommend it at all. there are other see front properties in Arcachon to check.
Great hotel situated in the centre of Arcachon and close to the beach and old town. The room was a good size, very nicely decorated with very comfortable bed and outside balcony. All the staff were very welcoming and gave us great advice on restaurants and how best to explore Arcachon. There was also a secure car park available for guests a few yards from the hotel which could be accessed directly via lift/stairway.
The Villa was beautiful, of and set amidst the unique Victorian architecture neighborhood of Arcachon. The hostess was so friendly and kind, and despite us not speaking each other's languages very well, we understood each other just fine and she did everything to make our stay even more comfortable. The room was clean, comfortable, and it was just a delight to stay here. Would definitely come back again!
We stayed in a suite and it had plenty of space. The staff are fabulous, the cleaners do an amazing job and are the loveliest ladies. Room is cleaned every day. The beds were super comfortable. Loved the little Nespresso machine and new pods everyday along with fresh water. We have stayed in 4/5 star hotels this year and they lacked a lot of the above. This hotel should be much more than 3 star.
Breakfast not applicable, location superb for the beach, shops and market square only 8 minute walk away. Free parking a bit difficult to find in high season, but there is a private space where bikes can be stored under cover and several local bike hire shops nearby.
Property nice and clean, and well placed not to get over hot in summer.
What is there not to like about Arcachon ?
I stayed here one time before in 2019. I knew when I went back to Arcachon I wanted to stay in the same location. They have a laundry room, and the rooms are a good size and comfortable. All the staff were friendly and helpful. Definitely a place we look forward to stay at. It’s close the the gare and the ocean, also just outside the market.
Lovely view out over the bay and the boardwalk. Breakfast on the balcony was delightful. The breakfast in-room service is brilliant, even a bit overwhelming. Location of the hotel can't be beat, right in the heart of the dining part of the boardwalk, overlooking the ferry pier.
The unique and colourful decor and artefacts, local to beach, shops and restuarants.
Room was their small one but stunning and designed well to feel spacious enough for 2 nights stay.
Breakfast on the balcony was a special treat.
We had a comfortable stay at your hotel! The staff was friendly, the room was spotless, and we had a prking place. Thank you to your team for making my experience memorable. Looking forward to returning!
The hotel is very conveniently located, close to the railway station and the beach, polite staff, beautiful, clean, spacious room, delicious breakfast, variety of food, very stylish terrace
